Wiki Loves Monuments Sweden[edit]

Hi. Please note that the id to be entered for Fornminne is the 14 digit "objektid" not the raä-number. The easiest way of finding this number is to right click on the "Visa i Google Earth" link and saving that link. That url contains the number. /Lokal_Profil 01:18, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thanks for noting this and explaining how to find this number. I made quite an effort in finding this and finding out where to find it. Goin into the database Fornsök "fornminnes databas" on this object there is no mentioning of any Objektid nor any 14-siffrigt nummer. Nor is there any hit if you search on "objektid" in Fornsök. If Wiki wants many uploads of pictures I do think the explination on how to find this number should be easier to come by. I also think that the categories "Skyddade byggnader - Fornminnen - Skyddade fartyg" are somewhat ambiguos. In the ad you ask for pictures of monuments, help Wikipedia and win, none of these really relate to monuments. This monument, the memorial of the battle of Lund is in the Fornsök database as a "fornminne" but are all monuments there? I do not think the word monument means "fornminne" but rather "staty, offentligt konstverk".

I've also uploaded a monument in Greece under Sweden in this project realizing that I didn't understand the scope of it properly to late. This is a good picture though, so I hope it will be put to use.

I don't know how to correct these errors and I do think I've reach the limit of my effort on this project, but should I decide to upload any more pictures I now will know where to find the 14 digit number for swedish monuments. (Is this also valid for monuments in other countries?)

Thanks again, Chris

Hi Chris. With monument really all that is meant is protected cultural heritage. The definition of what constitutes a monument therefore varies between countries. The choice of the word monument is slightly unfortunate from a Swedish perspective since the Swedish equivalent is way to narrow. In the case of Sweden we've decided to limit it to Listed buildings (as defined by Bebyggelseregistret), Archaeological monuments (Fast fornlämning in FMIS) and listed ships (as defined by Statens Maritima Museer).
You are very right about the number being hard to find. There is an official way of finding it in Fornsök but that is unfortunately even more complicated then the method I explained above. The reason why there aren't any descriptions of how to find the number is because most people are expected to find the participating monuments either through the map on wikilovesmonuments.se, using the Android app or through the official lists on Swedish Wikipedia (e.g. sv:Lista över byggnadsminnen i Skåne län#Lunds kommun, sv:Lista över kyrkliga kulturminnen i Skåne län#Lunds kommun and sv:Lista över fasta fornminnen i Lunds kommun). In either of these sources the number is already given and in some cases even filled out for you as you upload the image.
Different countries will use different numbers so the description above only works for Swedish monuments (fornminnen to be specific). However each participating country will have lists similar to those I linked to above which includes the number needed and a link to the correct UploadWizard. Hope that helps /Lokal_Profil 13:41, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
