Pinsamt, jag har märkt att jag gjort ett misstag och det är inte litet. Jag har missat att scanna in sidan 12-13. Det betyder att:

Jag hade pinsamt mycket problem med en av filerna. Hur jag än laddade upp en ny version så var det den gamla som syntes. Jag började leta efter fel i min egen dator och bytte mappar och var beredd att byta till den andra datorn när jag gjorde ett litet försök med att rensa (ctrl-F5) och helt plötsligt så var rätt fil där...

Rätt vanligt problem. Ibland händer samma sak men på Commons sida. Då kan man pröva att trycka på redigera fliken, sedan ändra edit till purge (i url fältet) och trycka enter. /Lokal_Profil 21:04, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Försökte lösa detta genom att lägga in en purge-knapp i min monobook. Jag råkade dock glömma att jag inte var på en svensk wiki varför du gärna får radera Användare:Lavallen/monobook.js om ngn annan inte har gjort det redan. Har nu plockat bort den. Om du går till Inställningar/Preferences sedan Gadgets sedan "Maintenance tools" så har du en "Thumbnail purger" som du kan aktivera där. Nu lagt in lite illustrationer från första bandet. Jag tror inte det är författaren till denna bok som gjort illustrationerna, varför jag inte vet exakt hur jag ska lägga upp dem. Jag har hittat identisk illustration i ett fall, jmf File:Biblia Fjellstedt I (1890) 176.jpg och File:SEC23B.gif, och liknande i ngt fall, jmf tex File:Fjellstedt Brännoffer-altaret.jpg med File:Mizbeah.jpg. -- Lavallen (talk) 13:08, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Om ingen konstnär anges i registret, titelbladet eller i anslutning med bilden så klassas bilden nog som "av anonym konstnär" och då gäller publiseringsdatum + 70 år om jag ej missminner mig. Om du har många filer (både sidor och extraherade bilder) kan det kanske vara värt att konstruera något i stil med template:PD-Ugglan, Template:PD-Nordens Flora och Template:PD-SFJ. Dvs. en specifik mall för boken som innehåller den relevanta informationen.

Antalet illustrationer (och det finns ingen kredit till ngn vad jag sett ännu) är ganska begränsat, men antalet boksidor är ganska omfattande. Det rör sig om cirka 2600 sidor. Dessa skrivs av och korrekturläses på wikisource.

Är den boten även kapabel att snygga till de äldre varianterna av {{Information}} så att de i respektive kategori (det är tre stycken) ser homogent ut? Idag har jag http-länkar till svwp i många fall och i kategorin för band tre har jag råkat skriva band ett på flera ställen. Det enda som är någorlunda viktigt för mig, är att Defsorten bevaras för sidorna (mindre viktigt för illustrationerna), där sorteringen ska följa sidordningen. Byter du namn på filerna, så orsakar du lite strul för oss på sv:wikisource, men det går att fixa. (Era verktyg verkar inte kunna se att bilder här används i source's sidnamnrymd.)

OK. Jag har nu satt AWB på att köra igenom kategorin för del 1. Det enda jag gör nu är fixar http länkar till svwp länkar samt licensmallarna. För band tre ska jag fixa "del I->del III" också. Om det är annat du vill ha fixat efteråt så är det bara att köra igenom det hela en gång till =). Angående wikisource så håller Check Usage koll på så väl wikisource som alla andra projekt, se t.ex. Tja, tar du en illustration, så syns den med Check Usage, men tyvärr inte alltid en boksida som vi har lagt in i sidnamnrymden. Denna namnrymd används just för korrekturläsning. Sannolikt syns den inte för att det är en annan teknik som används för bild-infogningen på sådana sidor än de flesta andra. (Du kan tex inte klicka på en sådan bild och komma till common.)
Nåväl, det är inte hela världen, jag har svårt att se att ngn skulle få för sig att börja modda en hel kategori av sådana sidor. Titelbladet läggs nästan alltid in i index-namnrymden, och den syns med Check Usage. -- Lavallen (talk) 12:51, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

En av de sist uppladdade sidorna är Sida:Biblia Fjellstedt II (1890) 104.jpg. (OCR'en för denna sida var som för många där det är frakturstil på texten, närmast värdelös.)
Indexsidan finns alla sidor i sidnamnrymden som hör till samma bok/band samlade.
I Kategori:Index alla böcker under korrekturläsning samlade.
Vissa av dem har sidor som bygger på djvu-filer, och ser det lite annorlunda ut...
Om du är inloggade i sidnamnrymden har du möjlighet att påverka statusraden för sidan, så att den kan vara grön: validerad, gul: korrekturläst, eller röd: ej korrekturläst.
De olika textsidorna i sidnamnrymden sammanfogas (transkluderas kallas det av ngn anledning) i huvudnamnrymden som wikisource kallar för textnamnrymden. Du ser ett exempel från Fjellstedts bibel i Första Boken Mose kap 1-26 som är långt ifrån färdigkorrekturläst än. -- Lavallen (talk) 17:39, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok, då ser jag varför Check Usage excluderar dessa sidor. De är i stort sett samma sak som "Bild" namnrymden på sv.wiki nu när alla bilder ligger på Commons. Eftersom en sådan sida redan finns (indirekt) för vilken bild som helst som ligger på Commons så går det inte att kolla. Är det ett vanligt förekommande problem att denna typen av filer döps om utan att folk kollar om de används på source? Gillar förresten "Sida" namnrymdsfunktionen, verkar som en fungerande version av hur korrekturläsningen på Runeberg fungerade. Och med tanke på sidor som t.ex. File:Biblia Fjellstedt II (1890) 007.jpg så är det inte konstigt att OCRen misslyckas =)/Lokal_Profil 18:34, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Aldrig hört talas om att det hänt att en bild flyttas. (Om det händer måste sidan flytta efter, annars funkar det inte.) Det är ju inte sidor som är superintressanta för användare utanför source.
Tekniken är vad jag förstått, relativt ny och det är mycket nyligen som vi passerade 2000 boksidor på svenska source. Engelska, franska och tyska är de stora, och tyska tar inte längre in ngn text som inte bygger på denna teknik.
Tömningen av svwp' fil-namnrymd var väl i full gång när jag kom dit och hade avslutats när jag började bli riktigt varm i kläderna, så att jag kunde fatta vad som skedde.
Varför inte soruce har följt efter, vet jag inte, de regler som vi har är hårdare än commons, så inget borde finnas där som inte kan läggas på common. Det ser konstigt nog, ut som att det fortfarande går att ladda upp filer på svenska source.

Det har förresten hänt att försättsblad med text från Google-book har tagits bort, men då av ngn av oss själva samt då i en djvu-fil. I sådana fall måste flyttar göras av texten med utan redirect, och ibland lite raderande, varför jag bett och fått sysop-status på sv-source. -- Lavallen (talk) 19:04, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Any possibility of editing File:Blank US Map, striped.svg so that one can use variable opacity in the fill styles?

Currently, there's a solid backdrop then stripes overlaid. It'd be better if there were two sets of stripes, offset (translated?) to be separate. For example, if one changes ".frog" style to "fill: #459700;opacity: 0.3", ColoradO's "Solid-frog" is striped instead of solid. --Goldfndr (talk) 07:39, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

My normal SVG editor is either notepad.exe or sed.exe -- if there was an svg-1 userbox, it'd fit me. I'm not (yet!) confident in an ability to learn an SVG editor well enough to isolate the path and duplicate it, or to trial-and-error an appropriate transformation matrix. --Goldfndr (talk) 01:56, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

I've now upped File:Blank US Map, striped2.svg to be used for variable opacity fill styles. The problem with using it for completely opaque styles is (as can be seen in the preview) that white areas appear between the stripes even though there is no codewise reason for this (the stripes share exactly the same nodes). To make things more confusing the gap between them looks different in different renderers and resolutions. Once a less opaque fill style is used though this becomes significantly less noticeable (and less important). Anyhow I hope that this will be of use =) /Lokal_Profil 14:56, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi, dropping by to congratulate your fine work at File:Map of US Suffrage, 1920.svg. It's close to qualifying for the local en:wiki site standards for featured picture. The one important element it doesn't have is reference documentation. Could you supply the source or sources used for the information it represents? Hi Lokal Profil. I originally transferred all of these from local (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian) Wikipedias where most of them were subsequently deleted for having unclear copyright status. The CoAs probably got nuked for not having a clear source and/or license .As far as PD-BiH-exempt it's not as straight forward to apply as one might think. I had a discussion with Lupo about it here and the conclusion is that a) one has to prove that it explicitly covers images such as flags and CoAs. Once this is done one has to prove that it covers sub-national coat of arms and flags. /Lokal_Profil 16:40, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
True enough, and near impossible to prove - state institutions in BiH (and neighbouring countries) generally don't care about copyright laws unless forced to do so. Looks like the numbers may have been added with out dividing by the total number of countries? The way I did it was by constructing an advanced Excel worksheet which (once the data is correctly formated) grouped the countries by according to their final colours and outputted the relevant code which I then just had to copypaste into the top section of the svg template map. I.e. if we take File:World map of Energy consumption 1979-1981.svg as an example and you open it in a text editor (e.g. Wordpad in Windows, don't use Word or a similarly advanced program) the only sections you need to edit are the "metadata" section (basically just to change the title and date). And the section between /*Info added by Lokal_Profil */ and /* * Sea. Everything else should be left unchanged. I can send you the excel sheet if you want to play around with it or I can create the new maps for you if you preferr that. /Lokal_Profil 20:43, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

I'll update the map in the next couple of days. As for abreviations the short answer is no since they rely on naming conventions in different languages etc. The way the excel file is set up (will send that to you once I've cleaned it up a bit) it has one column with the names and then one with the abbreviations. /20:18, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Jag har en bibel-utgåva till på gång. Nu en upplaga av Gustav II Adolfs bibel från 1655. Den är fotograferad, inte skannad, det är tekniskt omöjligt utan att ha sönder någonting...

Jag tog mig friheten att skapa Template:PD-Gustav II Adolfs bibel (1655) för detta. Du kan väl titta över den, jag snodde koden rakt av från Fjellstedts bibel-mall ovan och modifierade det jag begrep. Petade lite på den. Enda egentliga skillnaden är att jag särskiljde på licens kategorin (Category:PD-Gustav...) och innehålls kategorin (Category:Gustav...). Detta är mest för att de hör till olika kategoriträd. Annars såg altl bra ut =) /Lokal_Profil 20:16, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

I looked at the excel and it looks rather complicated. I have a data set for the world prevalence of diabetes that would great as a map. http://www.who.int/diabetes/facts/world_figures/en/index.html Will need to figure out how to tern it into percentages. What is the easiest way to work with a the set of countries? In an excel file? Do you use google documents? No worries. As to data sets, I tend to past them into Excel and then rearrange them so that the countries are in the same order as in the "map generator". That way I can just copy-paste the column with the relevant data straight into the map generator afterwards. I do use Google documents but spreadsheets is it's largest weakness, basically you have much more control in Excel. You will be able to make a separate map for women and men? This map only covers the total which is a lot less interesting than the separate figures. I guess we could take the population in 2000 * by the sex ratio than take the number of suicides and divide it by the previous number. Should be easy to do with excel right? Done. Used the 2009 sex ratios since these were easiest to find, in theory one should use the ratios from the same year as the data from a particular country but that would be way to much work for probably no visual difference. I have found a great source of data from the WHO in excel format. http://www.who.int/entity/healthinfo/statistics/bodgbddeathdalyestimates.xls Wondering how easy it would be to work with? A map of the death rate from gastroenteritis [7] or diarrhea would be excellent as this the leading cause of death in children under 5 years old world wide. I do not know how long it takes you to make a map are how many more you are interested in producing but IMO all these maps really add to the global perceptive of disease and really improve Wikipedia. Even the WHO does not provide this data in graphic form. Three tabs over they give the number of deaths per 100,000.Jmh649 (talk) 03:34, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Other maps that are needed for article of top importance include

  • Meningitis
  • Sexually transmitted disease excluding HIV
  • Malaria

Hey LP Slowing figuring out how your excel file works. Unfortunately it is not exactly the same as the WHO excel which means I have done a bit of moving around for the TB one. I guess we could probably do them as one big bunch so for all the maps would only need to do one move. Any easier way than by hand?
You are right for the psyc topics DALYs would be best. I guess the next question is should they be age standardized. For stuff like cancer this would be important. And maybe for all other conditions too?

I've done quite a lot of improvements to the Excel file since I sent it to you, would you like me to send the new one? I've got the WHO file hammered out so map generation can be started whenever the DALY/age question is resolved. I don't really know when DALY is more suitable then death (except for psyc of course) or when age standardised is important. The maps comparing large categories of conditions are also of interest. Like looking at infectious disease death in different areas of the world gives you a shocking image of the forgotten continent of Africa. It's not only Greenland, just that it's big enough to spot. By default British overseas territories, (British) Crown dependencies, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Overseas collectivities of France, USA insular areas and Kingdom of Denmark (you can see the details under the section about former countries) are not bunched up with their parent countries. This is because data gathered most often doesn't take these areas into account or gives them separately.
For the WHO data it might be worth colouring them though, can turn that on easily enough if you want. /Lokal_Profil 12:34, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
We in Canada have the WP:Northwest Territories which is about the size of Greenland. People speak a different language. Live in very different conditions and have very different life expectancy / disease rate. Yet the number of people are so small the area is not separated out on WHO maps. YES, but NO but yes, but no... really ambivalent about this. Never data is good but the 2002 is halfway done... the obsessive compulsive part of me cannot leave it half done... There are currently 62-65 maps missing in the 2002 set and 61 done... will there be any need of the 2002 maps once the 2004 ones are done? At least the 2004 should go quicker since I can probably reuse the ranges from 2002 (deciding the range is what takes ~75% of the time for each map). I took a quick peak at the 2009 data and it looks as though it might only be relevant for a few diseases, although there is a lot of data there which isn't at all available in the 2004/2002 data sets.
As an aside did you say you preferred the cancer maps as death rates rather then DALY rates or both or DALY only?
As a second aside. As mentioned above I do have a Google docs account. The reason I haven't upped the "generator" there is that it tends to manhandle the files and change them. Even if you upload an excel file to Google docs then export it to xls and then open it in excel it doesn't look the same any more. Working on the WHO2002 data has made me do a lot of minor (and major) changes to the generator. Age adjusted death rates for the cancer mortality I think would be best to start with. Will want the 2004 data eventually. They warn however that comparison will not be that accurate. Regarding the practice map above. You'll need to rearrange the WHO data so that the countries come in the same order as in the Excel file (e.g. Korea, republic of vs. Republic of Korea changes the order). This includes having empty rows for countries not included in the WHO data (e.g. Lichtenstein). Also don't forget that the data talks about "Serbia and Montenegro" which means Montenegro and Serbia are both blank and the data goes in the "former countries" section. /Lokal_Profil 15:42, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

I've uploaded the first four 2004 maps to User:Lokal Profil/WHO2004. I started with the ones that are defined differently from the 2002 data set (otherwise I'll forget them). I'll probably go on from Cardiovascular through to War and then do the Cancers (death rate) and Other Neoplasms (death rate?). Once these are done I'll do the ones for which there are already 2002 maps.
BTW most of the maps are currently missing theme-specific categories. Since this relies on knowledge about disease categorisation/naming I was wondering if you could take a look at it. It looks like the 2004 data set was actually published in 2009 after a consultation in 2008 with member states.
They also break it down by age group. This means that we can get pediatrics maps out of this data set :-)

Jag har bett om hjälp på Bybrunnen, men responsen verkar låta vänta på sig. Jag skulle behöva något liknande {{PD-Sweden-photo}} som hänvisar till att filerna är: photographic pictures och att bilderna därför är fria.

Det rör sig om tre band med faksimiler av en bibel som gavs ut som ett provisorium 1536 under utvecklingen av Gustav Vasas bibel. Det var alltså ett slags provtryck som gjordes av fyra bibelböcker och inte en komplett bibel. Jag hämtar materialet i böcker som gavs ut 1956-60. (Vissa sidor, med redaktionell text, i böckerna är inte fria.)

I mallen ovan finns dessutom en länk till svenska wikisource. Den är dock inaktuell eftersom vi inte kan ha gällande lagar ligggande. Vi har inte kunskap och tid till att uppdatera dem. Detta har tidigare diskuterats flitigt på flera platser. Hittar du ngn annan länk, vore det fint...
