I am working on uploading them all to the commons now under the ORIGINAL names and with a proper attribution format so they link well to Wikipedia. Thanks, however, for getting the process started. Actually I just downloaded it from English Wikipedia and uploaded onto Commons. Original image was w:en:Image:Overview of teays ohio network 500 arrows.jpg by Laramide, 4/29/2006 2:53 (UTC). It has been deleted as "duplicate with commons" [1]. I have believed this has been issued as a GFDL image, so please ask w:en:User:Laramide for information about copyright status of this image. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

What are you talking about? This is a picture of a man who was born and died in 19th century. This means it was difinitely created more than 100 years ago. Thus it is a PD photo, whoever created it. For details regarding this man, read w:en:John Purdue. Yassie 13:27, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

It was not anything like so-called "campaign". I did not come to commons for the poll anyway; I have regularly edited in commons for two years. I stated my concern merely because I would not like Miya to be like that A-word named user. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload works you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Commons images are used by editors on many projects in many languages. Each image is put into categories. This helps other editors find them. Please add categories to each image you upload.

To add an image to a category, add the following code to the end of the page.

[[Category:Category Name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbit of comets, add the following to the image description page:

[[Category:Astronomy diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories: Astronomy diagrams, Comets.

For further information on categories read Commons:Categories.

The CommonSense Tool often helps you find the best category for your image.

Where was this image actually published? Was this pulled from a web site (URL)? Was it pulled from a physical publication (ISBN)?
