The Vengance Tree at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana, United States)

Hi! I'm trying to improve w:en:Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, Notre Dame. As noted on the page nearby the Grotto is an approximately 230-year-old Sycamore tree, and I plan to expand the section to include more information about that tree, and a photo of that tree might be very helpful. The tree is depicted online here, with a picture of a woman leaning against it, but I can't find any freely licensed pictures of the tree online that capture more than its base and part of its trunk.

If anybody would be able to take a ihgh-quality photograph of the full tree, I would be most sincerely thankful.

Shoji Tabuchi Theatre

It would be good to have a photograph of the Shoji Tabuchi Theatre (Q66819369), located in Branson, Missouri, USA. This would be useful to illustrate the Wikipedia article on Shoji Tabuchi, who passed away recently. Apparently the theater has been closed since 2017 when a fire broke out. Maps of some temple complexes in India

There are several temple complexes in India and many of them prohibit mobile phones or similar electronic equipments inside them. Therefore, I think we should create static maps of them so that people can navigate inside the temple complexes without carrying any electronic devices by printing those maps. While OpenStreetMap is useful to do so, I found only a few temple complexes with details, including Madurai Meenakshi Temple and Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam. Other complexes need more details and Kashi Vishwanath Temple is surprisingly almost non-existent in OpenStreetMap. Non-gif format for Images on the Voyager Golden Record

Category:Images on the Voyager Golden Record currently only contain low-quality images in the gif format, which among other things only allow 256 unique colors. Compare https://goldenrecord.org/png/013.png to File:Voyager golden record 13 earth.gif: even though the png has fewer pixels at 477×382, the text edges appear smoother, presumably because no color quantization compromise was done. Similarly, the Principia page https://goldenrecord.org/png/111.png is much more readable than in the gif we have.

The actual images should have all analogue levels, being 512 lines tall. In square pixels, it should be about 639×512 based on goldenrecord.org image size. If someone could find images of that size without significant artifacts, even better. If not, I still think replacing the gifs with GR.org pngs would be an improvement.

I've tried the following sources, but none is better than GR.org:

I checked JPL website and JPL flickr, but both show significant GIF artifacts.
Ron Barry has managed a decode from the WAV file of the record, but with noticeable "shadow" artifact.

I'd think the people at GR.org know where to look, but I'm failing to find any contact info.

w:Neal Brennan hosts a podcast called The Blocks, which is available on his YouTube page. Many of the videos are listed as Creative Commons, so I think it would be beneficial to upload some images from there, especially for the Wikipedia pages for guests that don't have an image yet. Yes, but I've no idea how to actually take screenshots from videos. Usually I go full screen, take a picture and then crop, but some of the free videos are in YouTube's shorts format so I cannot get the highest quality image. Spinixster (talk) 08:00, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Bauer Media Group

Rebranded. Do you want to replace File:Logo Bauer Media Group 2012.png with this SVG? I don't think the licence on the existing image is right – the uploader is unlikely to be in the position to release the old logo under such a non-restrictive licence (I'd bet real money they're not) – but the new one should now be used. Johnston Memorial, Churchyard of the Church of St Mary, Gilston, Hertfordshire, England

Tucked away in the south-west corner of the churchyard of St Mary's Church, Gilston, in East Hertfordshire,[2], England is the little-known, and even less-photographed, Johnston Memorial. It comprises a cross, from which the top has broken off, in memory of Lieutenant Geoffrey Stewart Johnston, flanked by two headstones commemorating his parents, Rose Alice, and Reginald Eden. It has some importance as a Grade I listed memorial,[3] by the, now disgraced, artist Eric Gill. An unusable image can be seen at the bottom of page 26 of this, [4]. I would really like a usable image and wonder if any Wikipedia editor knows of one, or is located sufficiently close to Gilston to be able to take one. Any assistance would be much appreciated. There are cars like these parked everywhere around O'Hare, but I can’t find any free images of one to illustrate articles with. Although I don't have much understanding in Sanskrit, I can produce most of its sounds, because my native tongue (Bengali) is ultimately derived from Sanskrit. However, the given words are pronounced quite differently in Bengali (/ɡæn/ and /pʰɔl/ respectively, notice the final a's are dropped in pronunciation). The Vengance Tree at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana, United States)

Hi! I'm trying to improve w:en:Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, Notre Dame. As noted on the page nearby the Grotto is an approximately 230-year-old Sycamore tree, and I plan to expand the section to include more information about that tree, and a photo of that tree might be very helpful. The tree is depicted online here, with a picture of a woman leaning against it, but I can't find any freely licensed pictures of the tree online that capture more than its base and part of its trunk.

If anybody would be able to take a ihgh-quality photograph of the full tree, I would be most sincerely thankful.

Shoji Tabuchi Theatre

It would be good to have a photograph of the Shoji Tabuchi Theatre (Q66819369), located in Branson, Missouri, USA. This would be useful to illustrate the Wikipedia article on Shoji Tabuchi, who passed away recently. Apparently the theater has been closed since 2017 when a fire broke out. Maps of some temple complexes in India

There are several temple complexes in India and many of them prohibit mobile phones or similar electronic equipments inside them. Therefore, I think we should create static maps of them so that people can navigate inside the temple complexes without carrying any electronic devices by printing those maps. While OpenStreetMap is useful to do so, I found only a few temple complexes with details, including Madurai Meenakshi Temple and Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam. Other complexes need more details and Kashi Vishwanath Temple is surprisingly almost non-existent in OpenStreetMap. Non-gif format for Images on the Voyager Golden Record

Category:Images on the Voyager Golden Record currently only contain low-quality images in the gif format, which among other things only allow 256 unique colors. Compare https://goldenrecord.org/png/013.png to File:Voyager golden record 13 earth.gif: even though the png has fewer pixels at 477×382, the text edges appear smoother, presumably because no color quantization compromise was done. Similarly, the Principia page https://goldenrecord.org/png/111.png is much more readable than in the gif we have.

The actual images should have all analogue levels, being 512 lines tall. In square pixels, it should be about 639×512 based on goldenrecord.org image size. If someone could find images of that size without significant artifacts, even better. If not, I still think replacing the gifs with GR.org pngs would be an improvement.

I've tried the following sources, but none is better than GR.org:

I checked JPL website and JPL flickr, but both show significant GIF artifacts.
Ron Barry has managed a decode from the WAV file of the record, but with noticeable "shadow" artifact.

I'd think the people at GR.org know where to look, but I'm failing to find any contact info.

Johnston Memorial, Churchyard of the Church of St Mary, Gilston, Hertfordshire, England

Tucked away in the south-west corner of the churchyard of St Mary's Church, Gilston, in East Hertfordshire,[9], England is the little-known, and even less-photographed, Johnston Memorial. It comprises a cross, from which the top has broken off, in memory of Lieutenant Geoffrey Stewart Johnston, flanked by two headstones commemorating his parents, Rose Alice, and Reginald Eden. It has some importance as a Grade I listed memorial,[10] by the, now disgraced, artist Eric Gill. An unusable image can be seen at the bottom of page 26 of this, [11]. Although I don't have much understanding in Sanskrit, I can produce most of its sounds, because my native tongue (Bengali) is ultimately derived from Sanskrit. However, the given words are pronounced quite differently in Bengali (/ɡæn/ and /pʰɔl/ respectively, notice the final a's are dropped in pronunciation). If the artist has been dead for over 70 years, and there's nothing dodgy about the copyright status of the photograph of the art, then anything should be fair game. The Vengance Tree at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana, United States)

Hi! I'm trying to improve w:en:Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, Notre Dame. As noted on the page nearby the Grotto is an approximately 230-year-old Sycamore tree, and I plan to expand the section to include more information about that tree, and a photo of that tree might be very helpful. The tree is depicted online here, with a picture of a woman leaning against it, but I can't find any freely licensed pictures of the tree online that capture more than its base and part of its trunk.

If anybody would be able to take a ihgh-quality photograph of the full tree, I would be most sincerely thankful.

Shoji Tabuchi Theatre

It would be good to have a photograph of the Shoji Tabuchi Theatre (Q66819369), located in Branson, Missouri, USA. Maps of some temple complexes in India

There are several temple complexes in India and many of them prohibit mobile phones or similar electronic equipments inside them. Therefore, I think we should create static maps of them so that people can navigate inside the temple complexes without carrying any electronic devices by printing those maps. While OpenStreetMap is useful to do so, I found only a few temple complexes with details, including Madurai Meenakshi Temple and Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam. Other complexes need more details and Kashi Vishwanath Temple is surprisingly almost non-existent in OpenStreetMap. Non-gif format for Images on the Voyager Golden Record

Category:Images on the Voyager Golden Record currently only contain low-quality images in the gif format, which among other things only allow 256 unique colors. Compare https://goldenrecord.org/png/013.png to File:Voyager golden record 13 earth.gif: even though the png has fewer pixels at 477×382, the text edges appear smoother, presumably because no color quantization compromise was done. Similarly, the Principia page https://goldenrecord.org/png/111.png is much more readable than in the gif we have.

The actual images should have all analogue levels, being 512 lines tall. In square pixels, it should be about 639×512 based on goldenrecord.org image size. If someone could find images of that size without significant artifacts, even better. If not, I still think replacing the gifs with GR.org pngs would be an improvement.

I've tried the following sources, but none is better than GR.org:

I checked JPL website and JPL flickr, but both show significant GIF artifacts.
Ron Barry has managed a decode from the WAV file of the record, but with noticeable "shadow" artifact.

I'd think the people at GR.org know where to look, but I'm failing to find any contact info.

Bauer Media Group

Rebranded. Do you want to replace File:Logo Bauer Media Group 2012.png with this SVG? I don't think the licence on the existing image is right – the uploader is unlikely to be in the position to release the old logo under such a non-restrictive licence (I'd bet real money they're not) – but the new one should now be used. Johnston Memorial, Churchyard of the Church of St Mary, Gilston, Hertfordshire, England

Tucked away in the south-west corner of the churchyard of St Mary's Church, Gilston, in East Hertfordshire,[16], England is the little-known, and even less-photographed, Johnston Memorial. It comprises a cross, from which the top has broken off, in memory of Lieutenant Geoffrey Stewart Johnston, flanked by two headstones commemorating his parents, Rose Alice, and Reginald Eden. It has some importance as a Grade I listed memorial,[17] by the, now disgraced, artist Eric Gill. An unusable image can be seen at the bottom of page 26 of this, [18]. I would really like a usable image and wonder if any Wikipedia editor knows of one, or is located sufficiently close to Gilston to be able to take one. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Although I don't have much understanding in Sanskrit, I can produce most of its sounds, because my native tongue (Bengali) is ultimately derived from Sanskrit. However, the given words are pronounced quite differently in Bengali (/ɡæn/ and /pʰɔl/ respectively, notice the final a's are dropped in pronunciation). Finnish invoices commonly include a prefilled cutaway giro form. I could scan one, if that's what you're looking for. I have a picture of an old giro form (with punchholes) here giro form. Though I scanned and edited the image (to remove any financial details) I am not sure about the copyright of a scanned giroform (that's why I not uploaded it yet). A simple diagram showing a circle (or ellipse representing a hoop seen at an angle) and a curved line with an arrowhead going through the circle, to indicate the meaning of "through" to be placed on the page of the definition of "through" on Simple English Wiktionary. In places in the diagram where one line passes in front of another, the line behind should be erased over a very short interval to make it clear which is going in front of which. I have a diagram like this in Postscript but don't know how to convert to an appropriate format and upload; it may be easier for someone to create a new diagram anyway since it's so simple, or contact me to help me figure out how to convert it.
