That should be done next year

• Beginning early so voting is open for at least 3 weeks and announce before and make clear (at the beginning of the year) when you want to have the results.
• Refractor the templates so they use a switch with {{#titleparts:{{PAGENAME}}|1|2}} → 2011 (detecting the year, so concluding to ordinal (sixth) is also possible) so they don't need to be copied (and translated) again.
• Have a bot running to automatically patrol all vote-edits.
• Never hardcode links to toolserver or dates, instead writing them into one template and then, it's easy to change this template when required.
• All the above OR a software-voting extension that is tested and can be accessed by all committee members.
• A system of preferential voting in the final (drag&drop for example). -- RE rillke questions? 15:16, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

This was nice this year, please keep it

• The voting system with javascript and edit-filter was very nice compared to the former ones (and looked nice ,too). Will you keep it (or improve to be drag&drop system)? --miya (talk) 02:07, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
• This year we lowered the voter eligibility criteria from 200 edits to 75 (cf. Commons talk:Picture of the Year/2010/Eligibility#Why 200 edits) - I think it was not bad. Considering the criteria to vote in FP selection (Only registered contributors whose Commons accounts have at least 10 days and 50 edits can vote. ), we may even lower up to "more than 50 edits before 201X-XX-XX (for example 2012-12-31, if R1 would start 2013-01-10)" next year.--miya (talk) 00:08, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
