為中國歷史,尤其是上古史的考證文集。作者多為顧頡剛、胡適、錢玄同三人,亦收錄了劉掞藜、胡堇人、柳詒徵、魏建功、容庚、王國維、李玄伯等人的文章。全書分三編。上編為顧氏與胡適、錢玄同之間的往來書信,共35篇。其中有顧頡剛的《答書》、《告擬作偽書考跋文書》、《論堯舜伯夷書》等,胡適的《論輯錄辨偽文字書》、《告得東壁遺書書》等,錢玄同的《論近人辨偽見解書》、《論今古文經學及辨偽叢書書》等。中編收錄《讀書雜誌》上發表的書信,共10篇。其中有顧頡剛的《討論古史答劉胡二先生》、胡適的《古史討論的讀後感》劉掞藜的《讀顧頡

Important note: Works of foreign (non-U.S.) origin must be out of copyright or freely licensed in both their home country and the United States in order to be accepted on Commons. Works of Chinese origin that have entered the public domain in the U.S. due to certain circumstances (such as publication in noncompliance with U.S. copyright formalities) may have had their U.S. copyright restored under the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA) if the work was under copyright in its country of origin on the date that the URAA took effect in that country. (For the People's Republic of China, the URAA took effect on January 1, 1996. For the Republic of China (ROC), the URAA took effect on January 1, 2002.[1])
