Deine Fotos :)[edit]

Hi Lukas.

Mein Angebot steht. :)

2022 Austrian Grand Prix[edit]

Hello! Thank you so much for your photos from the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix. Fantastic quality and beautifully captured moments, I'm sure many of them will illustrate drivers articles (and yes, I will use as many as I can). You did such a great job, I hope you had lovely weekend with F1. DariaPolonia (talk) 16:34, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, yes it was indeed a very terrific weekend in the styrian hills, partying with the dutchies was quite a highlight this year :) And thank you for your kind feedback, I will definitely keeping up picturing various motorsport racing series for the future. Kind regards from Austria! --Lukas Raich (talk) 16:45, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mass addition of empty creator templates to race car driver categories[edit]

Hi. Can you explain why you mass added a bunch of empty creator templates to categories for race car drivers? Race car drivers aren't creators and the template is suppose to be added to files, not categories anyway. As a side to that it's also not at all helpful to create a bunch of single category/file categories either. Let alone when they have almost zero chance of ever being expanded. For instance you created Category:Zoran Mirakovski, which only contains Category:Zoran Mirakovski by year‎ and then that leads to Category:Zoran Mirakovski in 2022 which itself only has a single file. That's not really a helpful way of doing things. ‎The purpose of categories is to organize multiple files. We don't need a separate, individually unique category for every single image on here. There's also zero point in having a "by year" category that only contains one year. Please dial the whole thing back some and don't add creator templates to random category that have nothing to do with creators. Thanks. Adamant1 (talk) 06:09, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm honestly not really sure how I got to the creator template. In the past I used already existing racecar drivers categories where i copied the text and pasted into the new category I wanted to create (with editing the text so it fits). Maybe I used a existing racecar drivers category where the creators template was already wrongly in use. There were no bad intentions behind it, I will refrain from using the Creator template in the future. However, I'm not sure if I can find all the categories I've created in the past that uses the Creator template. Is there a way to find out where I've used this template? Regards. PS: As for the meta categories like "by year", I wanted to structure these drivers categories like the other categories do. Also, since this are just cross-references without a massive use of data storage, I don't see any unnecessary harm to Wikimedia in doing this.--Lukas Raich (talk) 09:11, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind, found already out in how to find the affected categories, but it will take several days for me to edit it out as I'm not havent the time at the moment.--Lukas Raich (talk) 09:17, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries about it taking several days to fix the creator template issue. Mistakes happen. As far as the "by year" categories, this isn't Wikipedia. Commons is a different project with it's own purpose and guidelines. One of those guidelines is that "A category is a special page which is intended to group related pages and media." It should be obvious that a single file or category isn't "related media" or "pages." The problem with not following the rule is that you risk running into a Russian doll scenario where people are repeatedly clicking through empty categories looking for an image but it's just an endless game of them clicking through increasingly more meaningless categories.
If you want an example, if I'm looking for images of vehicles in Seychelles and start out at the top level category I have to click through like 11 empty categories before I get to an actual image of a vehicle in Seychelles. Which is just needlessly obtuse. All you did with the 15 nested categories is create a "click the categories" game that no one has the time or cognitive ability to play through to the end. Especially since one of the categories 10 levels down is Category:Racecar drivers from Seychelles. No one looking for images of "vehicles" is going to be digging through categories for racecar drivers except people who are into racing. Really, the whole thing just comes off like you couldn't figure out what the most descriptive category name would be for the images so you created a bunch of extremely loosely related categories to cover all your bases. Or you just wanted to mass create a bunch of categories for individual racecar drivers because you just wanted to fill in the category trees or whatever and then worked your way backwards from there when it clearly wasn't a good way to do things. There's zero reason you couldn't have just put the individual images of the racecar drivers in Category:24H Series drivers from the Czech Republic instead of creating separate categories for every single image. --Adamant1 (talk) 10:25, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK found the patient zero as to how I came to use the creator template wrongly, someone edited the "by year" page of Nicholas Latifi and added the creator template (as seen here). I'm still removing it to this point, hopefully it's over soon.--Lukas Raich (talk) 23:21, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing race car driver categories[edit]

You created a bunch of unusual categories like Category:Jürgen Bender, Category:Michael Golz, Category:Gerald Hofer, Category:Bernhard Löffler, Category:Alois Rieder, Category:Uwe Schmidt (racing driver), Category:Manuel Süßenguth, Category:Christian Wimberger that all says these are racecar drivers from Germany/Austria and then have child categories which claims they are people from India. I can't find any evidence of these people from Wikidata to English to any other place easily so it's not clear what is going on here. Did you just use an Indian example and never fixed it? Ricky81682 (talk) 23:28, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, yes probably as I used the category tree from Arjun Maini so I probably forgot to correct it. Thank you for this reminder, I'll try to fix it.--Lukas Raich (talk) 10:54, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 21:42, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

wikidaheim[edit]
