Eunice Rivers & Eugene Dibble

Hello. About Eunice Rivers.jpg [1] and Eugene Dibble.jpg [2], I made the spanish translation from [3] and found there these images. Before I uploaded them to commons I found this web [4] where you can read Here are some of the individuals and artifacts associated with the history of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study. (compiled by H. Brody; photo credits: US Public Health Service; Tuskegee University Archives). As long as the images are US government material, I thought it was possible uploading them to wikipedia commons. Yes, I read it. Hey, Im suspicious about the images and i already did a lot of research - enough i think. I started a deletion request to discuss it because i was unable to solve it on my own, I dont started the request to have this discussed on my talkpage again and again without new arguments. The user lied (!) more than once and i dont trust him any more, no matter what he said. Template categories and HotCat.js

Hi. You may have learned this all ready but adding categories to templates via HotCat.js is a bad idea. You should always do it manually so that the category can be placed inside noinclude tags. Rocket000 (talk) 00:56, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I'm not sure how to change it, but the image in question is just an upgrade of the previous one. The Three added images are taken from the Wikipedia pages from the people in question, except for Asim Ferhatovic, for which copyright was never stated (the image is quite old).

i uploaded 2 images from User:Vitorvicentevalente, 'couse he doesn't know how to do this. He told me that both images were taken by him. so i uploaded then in PD:user.

Even without the user having to request the upload done, he offered that do not want him pay for it. Sorry for this, i agree with you if you were talking about "Rihanna_album_-_Good_Girl_Gone_Bad.jpg" picture, but the other one has no albun in evidence that shows a derivated work.
i really gave him an advice and i propose these uploads. but i still think that the file "Rihanna album - various.jpg" can stay here in commons. there are many albuns in the photo and no photography or logo is in evidence. i can't see any album clearly in the photo.
i have a history here to upload only images made by myself that i put in public domain. i trusted him and if no evidence that the images are stolen were found, he is not guilt.
so please, let the "Rihanna album - various.jpg" stay in here. i'll talk with him to take some new free photos. and before upload them here, i will show you to ask if there is some problem. ok?

Hi...ich benutze ebenfalls Firefox (v2.0.0.14) allerdings wird bei mir der Inhalt der Kategorien nicht nach unten gedrückt, sondern die kompletten Einträge unter den Buchstaben K L M werden von dem Bild überdeckt ( sieht also ziemlich schlecht aus), die anderen Beträge stehen dementsprechend links neben dem Bild bzw. darunter....An welcher einstellung kann das liegen (Vista, Firefox, irgendwelche Addons??) mfg Diether (talk) 19:40, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Wittig-sorting

hi;

the short explanation:

i'm trying to sort out the "wittig"s (at least, as german photrographer(s)); i've constructed a heirarchical cat system for this purpose. wittig ddr should probably be a sub-category of wittig germany, however i am not sure how many wittigs there are in our collection of photographers. i'm trying to tidy it up, as i go along...

i shall place wittig ddr inside wittig germany for now, tho i'm not completely sure yet, if thats the right way to organize it. (or if the post-ddr wittig is the same person)

(btw; wittig isn't that common, even in germany, & it's rather rare elsewhere; i am a wittig (possibly related to one of the east german photographers in our collection) & there are only approx 6 wittigs listed in my region. total population 150,000, with a significant number of german descent)

separately, i am writing a draft proposal for a technical merit award system, if you're interested, i am always looking for feedback/suggestions/help with the idea.

It looks like the user just selected random images from Flickr and applied the OTRS I had received for images I uploaded. Unless s/he actually received the authors' permission for the various images, it looks like those images will have to be deleted. Let me know if you need further information from me. You have tagged this file on 17 April 2009 as not properly sourced. I agree with that. Then an IP removed this tag by stating an author. I disagree with that: I have searched the web and found this file as copyrighted on several other pages, including the official airline-homepage ([13], [14], [15], scroll a bit down ), where this name does not appear. The images are from band pt:The Backbiters and their album pt:The Backbiters - Album.

I don't have their permission, but that wouldn't be a problem. Could you tell me how should I proceed? Both images belong to the band and are used as marketing (they are available in their websites).

I'm new to this and needed to urgently contact you re a deletion of a 'free to use' image that I adopted for my logo last year after finding it on the site through wikipedia.

I now find you deleted it in january this year - on finding the link I found this:

Three HMHS Britannic images

Could you go into a little more detail regarding the deletion of these images?

I saw that CommonsDelinker removed these images on the English Wikipedia, and was surprised, because I believed that everything was fine on that front. If nothing else, they're pre-1923, so they ought to be fine, but if I could, I'd like another look at them to make sure and fix if possible. SchuminWeb (talk) 23:35, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I added source links, [21]. Pre 1923 maybe, but not US. No author, no source that allows to conclude the author (only the given source Maritimequest, which is a website but not the creator), no license and warning templates where removed without improving the license: {{PD-USGov}}, {{ABr}} and {{Insignia}} are the wrong licenses for the images. Infact the image where without permission indication since 1 year. If you can find an author and the author died more then 70 years ago the images can be restored. --Martin H. You can not know this for every flickr user, you must ask yourself questionable if the Flickr user is the photographer of this image. I dont understand this on the basis of google translation completly, you refering to Photobucket and Flickr - I dont know what you want to show me. The only thing I can say, is that images from this Flickr account are not free according to COM:PS/pt#Termos requeridos de licenciamento. The copyrigth owner must give this required license terms, MiKeARB does not own any copyright. The proof is given in COM:QFI as I said above. The examples I gave him are true, he realy uploaded "All rights reserved" images from various Flickr users under PD-self and the template Flickr no known copyright restrictions. Yes, the text "Uploading unfree files after warnings" and "duration" is written by myself using {{subst:blocked|duration|reason}}. This can not be autotranslated. However a standardized usage with "duration=2w, reason=1" would be a good idea. At the moment you can not fix the template but you can edit the inclusion on the users talkpage. --Martin H. Checked the edits, evidence is given so User:EdwardCullen will be blocked. The images are ok, except he failed to upload the original imagesize from Flickr - a bot will fix this. Abusing multiple accounts is a block reason, yes, but in this case the edits are not diruptive or anything bad, they are ok, therefore I will not broaden it to Wikipedia. Perhaps it's best to not recommend this page as further reading about fair use. It's a one-sided, opinated, poorly legally based view on why pt.wp should have fair use, mixing image rights with licensing issues, and whatnot. There is on the other hand a documentation page that, albeit a bit outdated, has useful links to discussions and relevant policies.
