Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions. And also:

@Hedwig in Washington: Hello Hedwig in Washington. The photos, you mention in your message, are all made by me personally and I am the copyright owner of these materials. Upon request, I can send you by email the original files, containing the author's EXIF data, but I will not upload files with EXIF data. Please let me know how to proceed further in order to unblock the images and my account. Best regards, Rumen Georgiev Rdgeorgiev (talk) 16:32, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

@Hedwig in Washington: Thank you for the update and explanation dear Hedwig in Washington. Now after I know the real reason for blocking my account and the related files, may I kindly ask you to let me know if there is any chance to fix this somehow? For example would you allow the product photos if they are not branded or would you allow at least the general portrait and the logo files to be uploaded here (and used in Wikipedia article, which I am working on now)? Thank you for your time to go trough this. Best regards, R.Georgiev Rdgeorgiev (talk) 07:10, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- I don't see any reason to make an exception and allow spam on Commons. We are not the yellow pages. There are other's sites that don't care, like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and so on. Here we collect media that can be used for educational purposes. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 07:55, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
@Hedwig in Washington: I can not disagree with your argument about the absence of reason for exception, but as you can see I do not have any previous policy violations, in fact I do not have previous activity at all. When I tried to add photos on Wikipedia, there appeared a message box, where I was told that I can host images on Wikimedia and this is what I did. I picked some of my good photos, selected the most appropriate copyright policy and uploaded them. In this case you are the court, the judge and the jury and I ask you to cancel your death sentence for my account. I know that to get familiar with the policies is my obligation and I can assure you that I will never upload again a content which do not serve educational purposes. Probably this means that I will never upload anything, but believe me, it is a question of honor for me to be banned from somewhere. The easiest thing is to block my account again, but please try me and you will see, that everything which I am saying is true and I will no repeat any of my mistakes. Thank you for your time. - I give it a shot per Com:AGF. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 14:33, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
@Hedwig in Washington: Thank you very much for your readiness to give me a second chance as a newcomer dear Hedwig in Washington. Am I supposed to take some actions now (if I can) or I just have to wait the verdict? Rdgeorgiev (talk) 21:04, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
- I unblocked your account yesterday. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 18:45, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
@Hedwig in Washington: Thank you so much dear Hedwig in Washington. Probably I won't be the most productive contributor, but I promise that I will not make you regret your decision to give me a second chance. Have a wonderful weekend and best regards, Rumen Rdgeorgiev (talk) 08:12, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
