Hallo Alex! Hier ist etwas ziemlich komisch! Category:2022 in Landkreis Oberspreewald-Lausitz ist die Oberkategorie von Category:2022 in Senftenberg. In Category:2022 in Landkreis Oberspreewald-Lausitz wird mir Category:2022 in Senftenberg aber nicht angezeigt. Hast du eine Idee, woran das liegt? Gruß Lukas Beck (talk) 16:06, 4 January 2023 (UTC)

Hallo @A.Savin,

ich habe jetzt erst bemerkt, dass ich dir ja auch auf Deutsch schreiben kann. Ich hatte vor einiger Zeit bereits bzgl. fehlender/falscher Lizenzen von einigen Dateien zu Modellbauanlagen geschrieben. Da ich keine falschen Markierungen mit den Templates setzen möchte, wollte ich dich noch mal bitten. Reason for blocking Лобачев Владимир

Hi. As I'm sure your aware I asked you why you blocked Лобачев Владимир on his talk page. For some reason I haven't received an answer yet though, which seems weird considering you claim on your user page that your open to discussion. So, if you don't mind I'd like to reiterate the question and actually have it answered this time. And preferably without Pofka playing defense for you or otherwise acting like your spokesperson. Why did you block indef block Лобачев Владимир? If there was a legitimate reason for the block then it should be pretty easy to just say what it was. Otherwise, I'd appreciate it if the block was either shortened to be proportional to what he actually did or completely reversed if he didn't do anything to justify it. In the meantime it should go without saying that his behavior on other Wikimedia projects aren't relevant to this. Let alone is how he's acted on other projects a valid reason to block him. Thanks. As already stated on the relevant ANU thread, the block was because of long-term trolling, freqent editwarring and aggression and conflicting behaviour which ended in numerous ANU threads and that huge waste of community's human resources, and yes also the fact of previous Commons' and crosswiki blocks. I'm not related to Pofka in any way no matter what you may think to yourself, and if Lobachev wants to be unblocked, he may place an unblock request on his talk page (and this is the only possible way). Thanks for the answer. That said, I was expecting something a little more substantive then just a reiteration of the vague comments that were already made by Pofka. For instance, you say he was blocked for "long-term trolling, frequent edit warring and aggression and conflicting behavior", which I'm sure he was doing before Yann blocked him September 2022. But I don't see any evidence of him continuing the behavior since the original block. All I can see from his edit history between September and now is that he uploaded some random files. I don't see any evidence of him edit warring anyone or being aggressive in the interim either and Pofka didn't provide any evidence in the ANU complaint. So can you at least provide some specific diffs of the behavior your claiming he continued doing after the block? I'm sure you'd agree that someone shouldn't be blocked for actions they aren't currently doing simply because they were blocked in the past.
Also, I find it hard to believe your not related to Pofka when he's playing defense for you in random discussions and your using admin tools in a way that clearly favors his side of the disagreement. Same goes for your connections to Yann, Guido den Broeder, and Ymblanter to a lesser degree. If the same small group of people keep popping up in the same disputes and playing defense for each other repeatedly, there's probably a reason behind it. That said, I'm not here to litigate whatever conflict of interests you or anyone else might have related to this whole thing. I'm sure Лобачев Владимир and Kazimier Lachnovič have their own conflicts to. I just don't want people to be blocked for things that they shouldn't be blocked for. I have no agenda here outside of that though and I'd be asking the same question if it was Pofka, Guido den Broeder, or anyone else that was indeffed simply for being randomly mentioned in an ANU. All I'm asking for is diffs of the behavior he supposedly did. That's it and I don't think it's an unreasonable request either. While I'm aware that Lobachev can just do an unblocked request, I don't think he should have to do one if there wasn't a valid reason to block him in the first place. I'm more then willing to appeal the block at ANU or some other forum on his behalf though if your unwilling to provide diffs of the behavior that he was supposedly blocked for. Maybe MetaWiki? If I would argue with difflinks, surely you would then claim that I was partisan, which however I'm not. So once again, I did nothing more than closing an ANU which even had come to some consensus. Every ANU complaint has to be closed at some point with some result, so if not me this would have been done by s/o else and there's surely no guarantee that the result you would have liked more. It doesn't matter that the thread was started by Pofka, because, as already said, I'm not related to them. However indeed, apparently they're far more familiar with the issues regarding Lobachev+Lachnovič, and surely can provide all necessary diffs whenever needed.
As for appealing an unblock, as stated, this should be done by Lobachev himself: {{Unblock}}. I didn't prevent him from editing his TP. If an other admin decides to shorten or lift the block, be it. Please EOD here, this is going nowhere. Regards --A.Savin 12:37, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

И насчет этого. Вся Нижегородская область относится к Горьковской железной дороге, поэтому Category:Gorky Railway указана тут и не требуется для каждой отдельной станции. Michgrig (talk) 15:13, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
В этом есть резон, но вот что-то я совсем не уверен, что это касается прямо вот всех станций в этой области. Как минимум станции Нижегородского метро и трамвайные остановки (да-да, не поверите, но всё это тоже ж.д. станции...) имхо не имеют отношения к РЖД. --A.Savin 01:40, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
Вот это нормальный адекватный аргумент, а не наезды и какие-то непонятные демарши. Просто я привык, что в рувики метро и трамваи не относятся к железной дороге, поэтому выпустил их из виду. Equine category

Hello A.Savin, I just come here to justify adding these categories for your images. I will do this quite concisely, my level of English is quite limited.

Having embarked on a vast project to reorganize the categories dedicated to horses by country, and as is already the case in a certain number of other States, there is no need for the physical presence of a horse to classify these images in the relevant categories. A drawing, a sports venue, a horseshoe or even a logo are logically enough to do this. Otherwise, the "ramification" with the equine theme cannot be done. You're wrong, because, as you easily can see, all three images are in Category:Nuwara Eliya Racecourse, which is a subcat of Category:Horse racing in Sri Lanka, which is connected with "horse racing" and "horses" categories, that means it is a violation of COM:OVERCAT to add "Horses of Sri Lanka" to any image from this racecourse category additionally -- and it should not be added anyway if a horse is not on the picture, or is so little depicted that is clearly de minimis. --A.Savin 18:36, 4 February 2023 (UTC)

Swing rides and Chair-O-Planes

Hallo Alex. Würdest du vielleicht hier vorbeischauen. In einigen Fällen wurden Kategorien von Chair-O-Plane in Swing rides umbenannt, wie etwa hier. Teilweise ist bei anderen Ländern Chair-O-Plane die Unterkategorie von Swing rides, wie bei Japan. Da ist wohl einiges durcheinander geraten. Was denkst du darüber. My request for adminship

Hello Alexander. I want to thank you for your participation and input in my recently failed request for adminship. I take every word everybody said in the most constructive way and it is my intention to not only do my best for Commons (as long as time and real life allows me to), but to continue learning and helping out whenever I can. I don't take your oppose vote as something negative, much on the contrary, it is certainly enlightening. I did not take into consideration the necessity of creating a local user page; in fact, I did not even notice I did not have one here. On the other hand, although my edit count is low, I do not think the number of edits means an editor has contributed more or less positively to the project. I do accept, however, that admins and potential aspirants to the role should be more participative. Once again, thank you for your vote and I hope to see you again, collaborating around Commons. Mahim Bay

Maham Bay is a real body of water so what is wrong with placing images that depict one part of the bay or another into the Category:Mahim Bay? This is completely normal categorization in Commons and is regardless of what other items the images may include. Hmains (talk) 22:18, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

This does not depict Mahim Bay (look at the infobox map of Category:Haji Ali Dargah). This does, but is COM:OVERCAT for Category:Bandra–Worli Sea Link, because the Bandra–Worli Sea Link crosses the Mahim Bay. --A.Savin 22:22, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

А может быть, лучше оба файла объединить? Я не знаю, как именно там у них в OTRS, но вполне возможно, что тикет должен сохранять привязку к старому названию. По мне, так ничего не мешало просто загрузить новую версию поверх старой. В общем, если не возражаешь, я просто объединю обе версии под старым названием. Mehrtägige Ausstellung

Der Panzer stand dort vom Morgen des 24.2. bis zum Abend des 26.2. ihn nur in die Kategorie für den 24.2. zu schieben ist daher falsch, weil dann die nächsten beiden Tage unter den Tisch fallen würden. GPSLeo (talk) 13:33, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Die Kategorie für die Tage Category:Demonstrations and protests on first anniversary of Russian invasion of Ukraine in Berlin passt doch eigentlich. Alles was dort liegt würde ich gar nicht weiter verschachteln sondern direkt in diese Kategorie einsortieren. Unter einer Kategorie mit der Bezeichnung 2023-02-24 Fotos ein zu sortieren die nicht an diesem Tag aufgenommen wurden würde ich aber nicht nur als Ungenau sondern ganz klar als falsch bezeichnen. Erstens, wenn du die Events am 26 Feb in die Category:Demonstrations and protests on first anniversary of Russian invasion of Ukraine in Berlin einordnest, machst du doch offensichtlich das Gleiche. Veranstaltungen zu Jahrestagen sind ja regelmäßig nicht nur am eigentlichen Jahrestag sondern am Wochenende davor oder danach. Auch habe ich bei dem Wort "on" eher an die Bedeutung "zu diesem Thema" und nicht die Übersetzung "an diesem Tag" gedacht. Eigentlich war die Bezeichnung ursprünglich ja auch "Events", weil etwa beleuchtete öffentliche Gebäude ja keine Proteste im eigentlichen Sinnen sind. Ich habe die Kategorie bei Panzer0 bei ersten mal einfach geändert weil ich von einem versehen ausgegangen war, am Anfang waren ja nur Fotos vom 24. in der Kategorie. Ich verstehe auch tatsächlich nicht was bei der Einsortierung des Panzers direkt in Category:Demonstrations and protests on first anniversary of Russian invasion of Ukraine in Berlin an Information verloren gehen sollte. Verloren gegangen war jeglicher Bezug zur Russischen Botschaft, das habe ich in der Edit-Zusammenfassung erwähnt und verstehe nicht, was daran so schwer zu begreifen sein soll. Der Rest ist m.M.n. Ich habe das Bild aus der Kategorie entfernt, weil diese überfüllt ist und da das Bild noch in 4 anderen Kategorien aufgeführt ist, dieses für ausreichend gehalten. Автором указан Алексей Нестеров (Aleksey Nesterov), который со своей почты (Photo@alexeynesterov.com) немедленно отправил в Викимедию (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org) своё разрешение на публикацию данного фото, написанное по форме. Тем не менее фото было удалено. Я обращался с вопросами к Krd, но не получил пояснений, отчего произошло удаление. Не могли бы вы разобраться с этим делом? Пардон, ещё вопрос. Автор фото Алексей Нестеров получил ответ из Викимедии: "присланное Вами разрешение содержит ссылку на копию материала, размещенного в Википедии, а не на первоисточник публикации. Нам необходима ссылка именно на первоисточник для того, чтобы подтвердить Ваше авторство". - Что понимается под первоисточником? Здравствуйте. Увидел, что вы в снимали его сверху (File:Moscow 05-2017 img13 Krymsky Bridge.jpg). Справа, у самой набережной, на этом снимке здание дирекции парка Горького (обрезано). Вопрос - а не было ли в той серии этого здания целиком? Собственно нужно даже не всё здание, а вид растущих внутри его деревьев (в центральную часть 80 лет назад упала бомба, и так она и стоит без кровли, уже внутри лес вырос). Hi Lukas. Leider stehe ich gerade auf dem Schlauch. Wie so oft, reicht es leider nicht, den Quelltext zu kopieren, denn oft enthalten Vorlagen andere Vorlagen, die wiederum andere Vorlagen usw. Ich weiß daher nicht, wie der passende Quelltext gebastelt werden könnte. Hier müsste jemand gefragt werden, der sich mit Babelbausteinen gut auskennt. Soweit ich weiß, sind zudem auf Commons Benutzer-Babel eher unüblich (abgesehen von Basis-Infos wie Sprachen oder Wohnort). In der deutschen Wikipedia sind die schon wesentlich beliebter, aber immer noch nicht vergleichbar mit der russischen Wikipedia. Hier sind die Suchergebnisse, wenn man nach Erwähnungen dieser Buchreihe im Benutzernamensraum der deutschen WP sucht, und es scheint, die alle erwähnen es nur wörtlich, aber nutzen keine solche Babelbausteine. kannst Du Dich als erfahrener FPC-Stimmenauszähler bitte dieser Nominierung annehmen? Es ist nicht 100% offensichtlich, welche der beiden Alternativen jetzt gewonnen hat. :–) Ich hatte den Alternativ-Versions-Abschnitt angefügt, weil der Nominierende das wollte, aber offenbar nicht wusste, wie er es machen soll. Dann habe ich mir erlaubt, die Votierenden zu bitten, auch noch über die Alternative abzustimmen, da die Situation unklar war und ich hoffte, dass wir so ein klareres Ergebnis bekommen. Dear Savin, Since you asked "Why" I think I owe you an answer. The picture clearly is one of the best to show the fortress in its surroundings. And its place in the main catagory is well-deserved. But as it also shows the structure of the Golden Gate with its inner and outer gates and walls so clearly I though (for once) some over-categorisation was in order. Some people will want to see pictures of the Golden Gate, but overlook there is a category above it. They would lose the chance to see your great, informative picture. In general I think one category often is enough for many pictures, and I do get annoyed if I find pictures being put in six or more categories. Yesterday I saw a picture of a pergola but as a cat was somewhere in it, it was also in a cat-related category. Utterly silly. Well, I think I explained my "Why". Hope it can find some understanding. By the way, when I visited the fortress a bit over a month ago there was a drone in the air, I took its picture. Was that you again? Keep up the good work.Dosseman (talk) 15:21, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

Recent reverts to my edits

Hello, I saw that you have undone my edits that put some quality images under Quality images of Mumbai. I had put those images under the category since the images depicted a port and I thought it was Mumbai Port. I've looked into the images and the JNPT category and found that yes, the port is not in Mumbai and the images should not belong to Quality images of Mumbai. Category:Views of the Süleymaniye Mosque from a distance

When I started re-organizing pictures at the Süleymaniye most pictures, both in the main category and in the Exterior of … were pictures taken from long distances. Well over a hundred, some in both categories. I found someone created a category with pictures from the Bosporus, but many pictures there were from the Golden Horn. So I divided the two, found there also was a From Galata Tower … category, and then spent almost a day grouping the pictures. I decided “Exterior … “ was too wide a category and thus created “… from a distance” for pictures that are not from Bosporus, Golden Horn or Galata Tower. I decided (and explained) exterior is used for the direct exterior, not a mile away. So I created a Views of the mosque category and started using Exterior for only pictures of the complex itself. I am still working on that, but then saw you moved the Bosporus and Golden Gate pictures.

I took another look at what had happened and found you put the Golden Horn within the Bosporus. Take any good map or an encyclopaedia and learn that the Golden Horn is not part of the Bosporus. I tried to separate the two, and you put the one into the other. I decided the “from a distance” would best be the category to put the others in. That is what I just did, check . Please see my logic and try not to mess it up as I will be working on the mosque and complex for a bit more. I think I created a valid structure. We both know that soon people will put pictures into the wrong category, but the ones right now are solid. And well researched: I have found several wrong names, like Fatih, Beyazit of Blue Mosque.Dosseman (talk) 13:47, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

@Dosseman: The Category:Golden Horn is sorted in Category:Bosphorus, and of course a remote view of a building includes its view from Bosphorus, unless the building is located directly at the shore of Bosphorus. Regards --A.Savin 15:31, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
I claim that all people who claim the Golden Horn (Haliç) is party of the Bosporus are wrong. One should look at an atlas, not at the categories done by others, which are often wrong. In my mind the categorisation you refer to ís wrong, has been wrong from the start and ought to be corrected. On the Google Maps the Golden Horn is clearly marked, and has for an explanation: “Horn-shaped estuary, the primary inlet on the Bosporus.” To me that makes it clear that water from the Golden Horn streams into the Bosporus. But just as İstiklal Caddesi can be seen as an “inlet” of people to Taksim Square, but it does not make İstiklal Caddesi a part of Taksim. In the Turkish Wikipedia I found about Haliç, translated "Golden Horn is a natural harbor. There are 4 bridges over the Golden Horn. These; Galata bridge Ataturk Bridge (Unkapani Bridge), Golden Horn Bridge, Halic Metro Bridge". I let it start at the Galata Bridge, and any waters more to the west are definitely not the Bosporus.

@Dosseman: Well at least it is common on Commons to categorize bodies of water in the same tree as other bodies of water of the same basin, as for example you see Rhine is a subcat of Tributaries of the North Sea is a subcat of North Sea despite the fact of course that the Rhine is not part of the North Sea. If you don't like this categorization scheme on Commons, why then don't you propose something else on COM:VP. I'm not sure I understand what exactly you don't understand. The only thing is, OK, English is not my native language. Then let's express it in my native language: Безусловно, "вид издалека" какого-либо здания в Стамбуле подразумевает и его вид с Босфора, если только это здание не находится прямо на берегу Босфора (в этом случае, как мне кажется, вид на него с Босфора -- это не "вид издалека", хотя здесь и нет чёткого разделения).
