- Comment Haunting, and I'm likely to support, but is there any way to make at least the nearer pig's head sharper? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:51, 9 August 2020 (UTC)

- Support These days, we're facing an avalanche of images. Visual has been dominating the web for quite some years now and it seems like we're constantly drowning in photos. Sometimes, I'm tempted to let that flood of pictures just rush around me. But every now and then, one image stands out and I'll remember it (or bookmark it so I can go back to examine it again later). The photo above had such an effect on me and I kept wondering whether it was just the gruel scene that caught my eye. But I think it's more. In particular, I like the composition of this frame and the cold atmosphere of the depicted room. --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 15:12, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose-- I think it shouldn't be here. It shows a bit of cruelty. Shagil Kannur (talk) 13:46, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

- Support Striking enough as is to make any aesthetic or technical concerns moot. Daniel Case (talk) 15:56, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Support per others, and to Shagil, the fact that you perceive the cruelty from the look on the pigs' eyes is what makes this photo haunting. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:02, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose per Shagil Kannur. --Fischer.H (talk) 07:58, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

- Neutral Perhaps it is instructive to show this photo. But I think it's terrible to look at.--Famberhorst (talk) 17:09, 12 August 2020 (UTC)
- Support The story behind this picture is not any more cruel than that of a picture of a piece of bacon. Everybody was fine with a bunch of dead fish or chicken, so why are people getting upset about some pig heads? Simply because many of us are not used to see this any more and it is an uncomfortable reminder that your schnitzel once had legs. What's really cruel about this is that it does not show a bloody knife in the throat of an animal slaughtered at home (NSFW). What's cruel about this is that it shows the industrialization of meat production. Numbers painted on the skin, dozens of hooks for more heads, made of stainless steal, clinically clean. All of that supported by the cold industrial lighting and those little piggy eyes staring at you. Does it make you feel uncomfortable? Good, that's exactly the point of this image. It nags you, pushes you to choose: either say "this is wrong" and be a vegetarian or say "well, that's how it goes" and be a happy omnivore, but it will not let you eat your chicken nuggets and pretend they grow on trees. And that's what makes this photograph stand out among all the other candidates I've looked at today. --El Grafo (talk) 10:24, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
