First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

category moves[edit]

Umm. When an administrator reverts your moves, and they leave a message about moves on your user talk page, it is not a good idea to just ignore the advice and to move them again. Don't do it. Seek guidance in Com:VP. Doing it again will probably get a very stern warning and potential for a block. Hai creato un po' di pasticci. IP Gruppo API = Gruppo API è il gruppo; IP è un'altra cosa, e API al massimo è sovrapponibile col gruppo Moxmarco (talk) 11:47, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ti ho risposto sul bar. Ad ogni modo vedo di fare più chiarezza:
  • Gruppo API (legalmente Italiana Petroli S.p.A., ex Anonima Petroli Italiana S.p.A.): azienda capogruppo del 1933 da Ferdinando Peretti;
  • IP Gruppo API (che prima dell'incorporazione in API nel 2007 era legalmente Italiana Petroli S.p.A.): nome del marchio IP utilizzato dal gruppo, originariamente azienda a sé stante fondata dall'Eni.

Tu hai fatto di testa tua senza consenso, in primis (come peraltro già avvisato in passato). In secundis, se ti fossi preso la briga di leggere la voce di Wikipedia, ti saresti accorto che IP Gruppo API non è una denominazione del marchio IP. E adesso perché stai modificando su Wikidata. In ultimo sì, ho un minimo di conoscenza sia del settore che di Wikipedia, e non è questo il modo di procedere Moxmarco (talk) 12:54, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Moving a category doesn't move its contents[edit]

Hi. Moving a category just moves the category and doesn't reassign the pages to that new category. They are separate actions. If you need to move a cat and its contents, then probably best just to drop a request to Com:VP and someone will help you out.  — billinghurst sDrewth 07:58, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
