First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

해당 저작물에 관한 일체의 권한을 스스로 가지고 있는 것이 아니라면 {{Cc-zero}}를 결코 사용하시면 안 됩니다. 통상적으로는 저작권자 사후 70년이 지난 저작물의 경우에는 {{PD-old-70}}을 사용하여야 하나, 해당 저작물의 경우에는 대한민국 정부의 저작물이자, 대한민국 저작권법 제7조 2에 따라 보호받지 못하는 저작물이기 때문에 {{PD-KoreaGov}}를 부착하여야 합니다. 이와 같이, 다른 저작자의 저작물을 사용하실 때에는 주의를 기울여 주시기 바랍니다.

해당 파일들은 Demis에서 퍼블릭 도메인(PD)으로 배포하는 지도를 바탕으로 제작된 것으로 보이는데, 퍼블릭 도메인의 경우에는 굳이 출처를 표기할 필요는 없으나 기본적으로는 그 유래를 이처럼 파일 설명 틀 안에 적어줌이 바람직합니다.

아마 맞을 겁니다. 위의 모든 파일들은 다시 좀 더 알맞게 정정하였습니다. 다만 File:Korea gazette.gif는 관보 제1호의 2면을 일부 잘라내어 선을 그은 것이라 위키미디어 프로젝트 내에서 쓰기 적합하지 않다고 판단하여 관보 원본을 PDF 파일로 새로이 업로드하였음을 알려드립니다. 덧붙여 Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:KOGL 등 위키미디어 대한민국의 도움이 필요한 부분에 대해 일전에 메일을 보낸 것에 아직까지 답변을 받지 못하였는데 혹시 가능하다면 현재 그것의 처리 여부를 알려주시면 대단히 감사하겠습니다. --Garam talk 14:22, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2018 is open![edit]

Dear Asadal,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.
