Trimmed[edit]

I trimmed the black edges from File:Ker-Feal Gottscho-Schleisner gsc 5a17945.jpg, which is usual for displaying in the National Register of Historic Places lists. I was very pleased and surprised to see this photo, after settling for the lousy photo of the gatepost for the northern Chester County list (due to all the no trespassing signs). Thanks for finding it. Smallbones (talk) 00:41, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

painting attributed to Geroge Clarkson Stanfield[edit]

Hi Diiscool,
you added a (detail of a) picture to WikiCommons ( http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:George_Clarkson_Stanfield_Shipping_off_the_Coast_detail.JPG ), describing it as a painting by GCS. After several years of collecting paintings by this painter (original and on the internet), I very much doubt this attribution. Sorry!
It would be nice, if you could add a picture of the full painting (not only a detail), where the sigature can be clearly seen and identified. Comparing with so many other paintings by GCS, I just dont believe this was painted by him. The style as well as the subject, does not fit to his work. Yes, he painted ships as well, and yes, he wasnt as talented as his father. But the quality of this painting is far from his work. Every second week somebody attributes paintings to the Stanfields (especially small auction-houses and sellers on ebay). As they focus on selling, this is understandable... In Wikipedia, only clearly accepted paintings should by added
