Hello, M7!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Re:Your request

Hi M7! Thanks for fulfilling the request; I'll be informing the users in question in a few minutes' time. odder (talk) 19:16, 19 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your deletions on Commons

[edit]

Please do not perform deletions on Commons using your steward access. You hid content on your talk page (this page) on 1 December 2014, even though stewards are only allowed to use their privileges in emergency situations. In future, please let such issues be sorted out by locally elected administrators; you can request their help at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard, by contacting one of them on their talk page (or via e-mail), or by requesting assistance on the #wikimedia-commons IRC channel on freenode. Thank you. odder (talk) 19:13, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It was one of those insults by Wikinger, crosswiki as usual. If you feel that stewards are not able to act immediately against blatant vandalism by well known LTAs on this wiki, just say so. Thank you, M7 (talk) 20:13, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao! Quando carichi una foto che necessita di ticket VRT, aggiuni semplicemente nella pagina del file, così non viene cancellato nell'attesa. Ruthven (msg) 08:08, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! You licensed this cutie GFDL. GFDL is no longer accepted for new uploads (after 2018). Perhaps you can also licens cc-by-sa-4.0? --MGA73 (talk) 11:17, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MGA73, I've changed the license. Could you have a look and see if it's ok now? Thanks. --M7 (talk) 11:27, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is okay now. Thank you. I have not checked if you uploaded other files with GFDL only. If you did you can fix them the same way. --MGA73 (talk) 11:41, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've had a look. It is possible that I copied and pasted another Dachsbracke photo to have categories and similar infos ready.. and that I've removed newer licenses instead of the older ones. Thanks again. BTW Buck is at the Rainbow Bridge now, but Lucky later last year has delivered 8 puppies. :-) --M7 (talk) 11:52, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's a hard part of life to say goodbye. But puppies bring lots of joy! --MGA73 (talk) 14:26, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
