Wow! A found an image purported to be of my father...

Big problem: an image of some guy in a soldier's uniform standing in front of dead bodies in a concentration camp somehow found it's way onto the web through wikicommons. Now, the picture is being used on Holocaust denial sites, Arab sites and this is really offensive to a lot; I mean a lot of people. I am being forced to file a Federal complaint as long as and anywhere this image exists. Please help. I know you are not bad people, but this is indecent communication, at least, and possibly defamatory. Location of image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Capt.Alfred_de_Grazia_at_Dachau_concentration_camp,_ca_May_1st_1945.jpg Also: Here is the Wikipedia page that the image was taken from for use at Negative POV sites across the web: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_de_Grazia Here is some discussion of the event: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Alfred_de_Grazia {{Jagtig (talk) 19:53, 9 August 2015 (UTC)}}[reply]

I think will be great to add number of updates in these pages. It will be indirect indicator of how much reviews were performed. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:16, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@EugeneZelenko: I will try to add that, although not right away. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:22, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@EugeneZelenko: added to notable uploads. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 21:51, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@EugeneZelenko: added to uploads by new users as well. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:10, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Idea to further enhancement: to place update counts on list pages themselves, to signal which pages need more attention. Just encountered several two-days old pages in User:OgreBot/Uploads by new users with 1 update. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:15, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@EugeneZelenko: I will think about it. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:27, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of File:Image thumb8.jpg

Magog, you nominated File:Image thumb8.jpg for deletion, but that page is a redirect. I think you wanted to nominate File:2011 photo of Fidel Urbina.jpg. —RP88 (talk) 01:47, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. It is a defect in the mass deletion tool that I have already notified Rillke about.[1] I have pinged him again in this statement; if you believe it's a problem, perhaps you could say something yourself. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:10, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately that has been a known bug in VFC for at least a a year. Personally, in order to avoid this bug, I do a quick audit of the images after posting a mass delete. —RP88 (talk) 03:29, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@RP88: Good idea. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:57, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I regret the inconvenience. Patches to VFC are welcome; currently my spare time is too limited to allow me updating the script myself. -- Rillke(q?) 10:23, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Rillke: where would I go about making the change? Also, is there any way to run the script locally in test mode? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:11, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Archivos del usuario Wiki LIC

Hola, Magog. Tengo dudas acerca de las licencias de los archivos subidos por Wiki LIC, creo que deberían ser eliminados. También lee lo que dice en el TAB de la versión en español. [2] Saludos --C.Jonel [contact me] 13:39, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Me parece que User:Ezarate se ha ocupado con este asunto. ¿Tengo razón, Esteban? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:27, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:58, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
no se que clase de prueba pueda tener el usuario, al ser escaneada de un álbum familiar no creo que quede ni la referencia al fotografo. Ezarateesteban 14:28, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Unless someone asks me otherwise"

https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:Administrators%27_noticeboard/User_problems&diff=166847109&oldid=166841561

I asking you, but since you have doubts of some sort, I'm asking in the context of a friendly talk page discussion. Look at the following:

How does this community reconcile the fact the same bureaucrat who advocated desysopping INeverCry is adamantly defending Russavia at every opportunity? Russavia made INeverCry miserable at every opportunity, yet Odder never advocates any action against Russavia, only against Russavia's opponent. I see favoritism in this community, even in its highest echelons in the form of bureaucrat Odder.

Can you also not see how favoritism was created for you? You took a more more popular approach to sysopship than Fastily did. You became a prolific bot operator, while Fasily became a prolific deleter. People saw you as helping their uploaded files, while people saw Fasily as destroying their work. This made you a community favorite and Fasily a menace in the community's eyes. I believe that your popularity and Fasily's unpopularity had much to do with the outcome of the dispute between Fasily and you. A vote under these circumstances would always swing towards popularity contest rather than justice. Do you believe otherwise? --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 18:13, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I will respond to this, but it will take me a bit to form a fully competent answer. I will give you the TL;DR beforehand:
  • Yes, I do believe the community shows favoritism, as do many communities. I don't like it either.
  • Fastily had a lot of complaints. Some were unfair ("he deleted my photo", "oh c'mon, stop being such a square with this precautionary principle nonsense!"). However, others were quite fair and accurate. It's worthwhile to note that he was entirely unrepentant and unwilling to change his future behavior, as expounded by his final statement. Anyway, because you asked, I will soon provide a list of concrete examples, rather than just accusations.

A barnstar for you!

The Technical Barnstar
I have been looking for a tool like fileinfo for so long! It should be posted more prominently near every Commonshelper mention! Thanks for building it. – czar 06:35, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It was not updated for a week. Please take a look. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:12, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@EugeneZelenko: Thanks for the note. I've increased the amount of memory available to the process. Hopefully that fixes the problem. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 22:50, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What's wrong with this?

Hi, i was looking for some photos, and I saw that you deleted this.

I think this deletion is a mistake. There is a lot of files from Acrofan, and none of them were deleted. See: 1 2 3

Thank you. JewELFish (talk) 22:47, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@JewELFish: I've restored it. If you upload photographs from there in the future, please use the license template {{Acrofan.com}}, as it has an OTRS template attached to it which the original upload lacked (thus meaning that anyone looking at the image was unaware that the license was correct). Thanks. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 17:01, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What the hell are you talking about.

File:淡水文化國小.jpg about this picture I had already said I'm the producer and the photographer. I didn't knew what are you notice me it will be delete someday. Well if you can you could did it. I didn't care about that. --Cjackh (talk) 10:45, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Cjackh: But you didn't put a license on the file until after I tagged it. That's all my message meant. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 03:27, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Magog the Ogre at the picture's down page, there's a message:
{{int:license-header}}
{{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}}
Well, that didn't mean I had already said the license and I am a producer or photographer? Any way, this picture I had filled the license right now. Thanks for your asking for that. --Cjackh (talk) 14:10, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Cjackh: no, there was not a license when I originally tagged the image. Pinging Jianhui67, I think there might be a language issue here and I'd appreciate a Chinese speaker. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 15:32, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of File:DNALINK-logo.png

Hello. I tried to updated information about this company logo. Please check it. --imroot86

User rights

Are you able to change them for me? I have no plans to become active here again, so basically all I need is to be able to use Flickr Upload Bot to help someone at en:WP with various projects, to change a license or template information (as needed to be done recently), and to upload a file that someone leaves half of behind at en:WP. Thanks, We hope (talk) 23:21, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure about that? They can't hurt anything. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:25, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure I won't be working here as I previously did. When things like this started around February, it's hard to want to work here. I stopped patrolling new files, filing DRs and things like that and retired in early March. After a time, I thought I might have been too hasty, started doing some work here again in June and stopped again. I used to enjoy working here but now am here only when I need to be. Files license

Thank for your message. Something gone wrong during upload: I indicated a "PD-old" license but it seems disappeared.. now I've modified all four files with the proper tag. Luky August!--Ale Sasso (talk) 07:43, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
