I was trying to upload a YouTube video. As part of the process, I was told that I had to use "{{Template:YouTubeReview|id=idofvideo}}" so that an appropriate user can review my upload. This seems to be disallowed. Could have done something wrong though.

@Jeff G.: , it's mentioned at Commons:YouTube_files ("Uploaded videos should be tagged with Template:YoutubeReview to request a license review to permanently document that the video really was available under that license."); the default for that template does suggest that it's meant to be used by the uploader (with the reviewer checking the video, and tagging as valid). As something of a follow-up, Commons:YouTube files is neither a policy nor guideline, so I would be disinclined to make changes to a long-standing and mature filter when it is merely issuing a (correct) warning (as noted above, {{YouTubeReview}} is "intended to be used by the following user groups: ⧼Group-Image-reviewer⧽"). One also notes "Uploaded videos should be tagged with {{YoutubeReview}}" is, of course, not "Uploaded videos should be tagged by the uploader with {{YoutubeReview}}." @Elcobbola: , I don't know how an average user is supposed to deduce that {{YouTubeReview}} is not meant to be used by the uploader - can the wording be adjusted appropriately? Also, I realised only later that the filter was merely a warning; the message I got when I triggered the filter (filter 70) was misleading as it implied that my action was disallowed (and was referencing images, which wasn't what I was doing). @Arikadilaril: Hi, and welcome. Special:AbuseFilter/186 worked as intended and you also triggered Special:AbuseFilter/156 by trying to upload a smaller (<50,000 bytes) jpg image as a new user. We do not host encyclopedia articles, résumés, CVs, current ads, random advice, etc. The image you tried to upload is smaller, and you indicated it's your own work. Usually when someone uploads a smaller image, it's a copyright violation taken from the web. Please upload the full-size original of it, including EXIF metadata, but it may be judged too complex to be under TOO in the country of origin, so you may need to post COM:L compliant permission for such works on your website or social media presence or send permission via VRT. Also, any raster image will look jaggy when scaled up, so you may want to upload an svg version, too. If you can't get a compliant license, the images may still be uploaded to English Wikipedia in compliance with en:WP:F because we don't allow Fair Use here. here on Wikimedia Commons per COM:NOT.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 09:51, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

Any ideas? -- the pic does include a tiny road sign in the foreground, with the distinctly ordinary text showing the borough being entered, "Lambeth", but assuming the filter reads text rather than pics, I can't think of any reason why it would have triggered that filter. A quick look at my edits on the English Wikipedia and Wiktionary will show I'm no sock puppet and I've probably been around for at least a decade longer than the "indefinitely blocked individual". Too many people try to upload audio files that are still copyrighted by the authors, performers, recorders, publishing companies, etc. without proper licenses from those people. Please document fully the sources and licenses of your audio uploads, and request Autopatrol group membership at COM:RFR when you think you are ready (once you have made more than 500 useful non-botlike edits); having that should allow you to upload mp3 files. Until then, you may reencode the audio into Vorbis or Opus and upload it with full documentation as an .ogg or .oga file (or use any other format accepted per COM:FT#Sound).   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 18:53, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
