In 1988 Postverk Føroya, the postal administration of the Faroe Islands, issued 17 stamps.

Faroese Flowers[edit]

This set of four was designed by Bárður Jákupsson and issued at 8 February. It shows very common flowers in the Faroes.

Europe CEPT 1988[edit]

The common motto for the Europe CEPT edition 1988 was transport and communication. The Faroes contributed with two stamps by Bárður Jákupsson, issued 11 April.

Faroese Writers II[edit]

The second part of the series "Faroese Writers" was issued on 6 June. Engraver was Czeslaw Slania.

The Christmas Meeting 1888[edit]

The Christmas Meeting 1888 in the Faroe Islands was the beginning of the National awakening. Date of issue: 5 September; artist: Bárður Jákupsson.


The Cathedral Ruins in Kirkjubøur[edit]

The Magnus Cathedral in Kirkjubøur is one of the most important historical sites of the cultural heritage in the Faroes. Czeslaw Slania engraved the stamps after the photographs by Ole Wich. Date of issue was 17 October 1988.
