Hello. I own the images. Can you please explain why each have been marked for deletion? I look forward to your response. Thank you.

I was informed that the URL of a picture from FACEBOOK could not be used to validate permission

Never mind. I got help from an OTRS volunteer.

In the future, please do not use the name of the volunteer that helped you when writing a post on here. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 01:30, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

HI,

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. The picture obviously could not have been taken by himself, but with his camera, and by a soldier who happened to walking by. He laughed when I asked him if he knew who took the picture, and said he must be dead. I was told this by Helias Doundoulakis, and if you wish, please communicate with him directly. He is 91, still emails ... helias.doundoulakis@gmail.com. Helias Doundoulakis is my father. Stephen Doundoulakis (unsigned by Sbrondace)

Hello. RE: Photos (of "Toy Connor") I uploaded were Deleted. I would like to put them back on the page, as they are my own property and the Photo Credits are on the Artist Reverbnation and Facebook pages. It would be greatly appreciated if you would Please assist me on having the photos re-established on Wikimedia Commons and attached to the Artist Page. I look forward to your response.

Hi, Thanks for your response. Vico Valez is an independent contractor that was hired by BSE to take the PROMO Photos of Toy Connor. It was a complete buyout. I will work on retrieving the executed independent contractor agreement. I own BSE and personally photographed Toy Connor's Performance Photo, though I am not a professional photographer. I then gave her a copy, which she posted on her social media and gave BSE Media Photo Credit. Can we restore the Performance Photo at this time? Please let me know how we should proceed. Thank you again.

Claudine Blanchard-Laville

[edit]

Hello, I took this picture in 2010 and I gave it to Amazon, at the request of Claudine Blanchard-Laville, in 2014, while helping her to improve her page on Amazon's website. I don't know how I can prove my rights on this picture. I put it on Wikimedia Commons in an attempt to have it available for everyone. Have a nice day --Pierrette13 (talk) 05:11, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, I did what you proposed me to do Here !. I don't really care much about getting my rights back on the picture. I've put another picture (also of my own) on CBL Wikipedia page There !. At that time, I was'nt aware of Amazon's policy about texts or pictures. Thank you for your help, have a nice evening, --Pierrette13 (talk) 19:21, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hello hello again, I am in a catastrophic situation ;-) All I can do is to ulpoad a new photograph (here), while expecting to have these photographs safely in wikimedia commons... Thank you for your help, --Pierrette13 (talk) 20:43, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open!

[edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2015 Picture of the Year contest.

Dear Dontreader,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.

A suggestion

[edit]

Hi, Thanks for all your work with Commons:Deletion requests/File:Musée suisse de la Mode.jpg. However, in your last comment there, I think there's one sentence that risks confusing the user. The sentence says that, in the example given, the copyright mark was not correct. Actually, the mark is very correct, and quite useful too, to remind people that free-licensed means copyrighted, not in the public domain, and also, in the given example, to make clear who the copyright owner is, that the photograph is specifically under the copyright of this licensor, not under the general copyright of the website. May I suggest the removal of the sentence? -- Asclepias (talk) 13:53, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Asclepias, I apologize for that mistake. I thought the "©" symbol meant "All rights reserved". Obviously I was wrong. I will cross out what I wrote, and I will clarify the situation in the manner you specified, also making it very clear that the author should be named where the image is. Thank you very much for informing me, and have a great day! Dontreader (talk) 19:16, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Asclepias, I hope my corrections are okay. If not, please remove whatever you decide is best. Thanks, and again I'm sorry about that mistake. Best wishes... Dontreader (talk) 19:28, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'd rather not edit other people's comments. Hence my making suggestions here, with which you can do what you want. IMHO, it would be better to remove the sentence entirely. When explaining something to new users, I think that sometimes it is more efficient to avoid including details that are not essential in the context and that could leave the user with the impression that the matter is even more complex than it is. The present version is still a little confusing. It's not that the copyright mark "should" be used. It's just that it can be used. It's the same situation for all types of copyrighted works, be they offered under a free license, or under a non-free license, or all rights reserved. The inclusion of a copyright mark is not an obligation. Readers are supposed to know that all works are copyrighted by default, unless there's evidence that they're in the public domain. The presence or absence of the mark doesn't change anything to the facts. The mark is an optional indication that some people use to draw attention to the fact of the copyright. The mark is not required by the terms of the usual free licenses (although a licensor might make it a requirement by specifying the mark as an integral part of his attribution). But the inclusion of the copyright mark can be useful in some cases. Given that not everybody in the public is familiar yet with free licenses, the mark can serve as a reminder that reuses must comply with the terms of the license. The important thing is that the reuser complies with the requirements of the license, for example to attribute to the author and link to the license. As long as the terms of the license are met, if a licensee, from his own initiative, adds a copyright mark, that's fine. -- Asclepias (talk) 21:11, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I see what you mean. I've deleted what I wrote. I'm sorry that the uploader seems to have encountered an obstacle with the photographer. Hopefully the pictures will be undeleted in the future. I feel bad when polite people run into these problems. I spent around a hundreds hours learning how to properly upload a picture via OTRS. Luckily I was able to simplify the process for a Brazilian uploader a couple of days ago, but each case is different. Thanks for your advice! Dontreader (talk) 21:35, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I also thought the "©" symbol meant "All rights reserved", good to know. ~riley (talk) 22:52, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Commons:Deletion requests/File:Jasmar Cassar - Just Be.png

The photo is owned by Mr. Cassar as he produced the video himself. The photo is actually taken from the video itself. I was also able to contact Mr. Cassar myself. I can tell him to send an email of approval. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JeanMarion (talk • contribs) 17:56, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
