Hallo Angr, I need your opinion in this case. In the german Wikipedia you can use pictures of stamps and paper money. Is the deletion intention correct? On the webside, onm which I've found the picture, I've discovered no copyright remarks. Tahnks in advance -- Jlorenz1 13:50, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

As I understand it, money is extremely tricky and subject to its own rules. In some countries, it's copyrighted like any other work so if the artist is known, you have to wait until 70 years after his death, and if the artist isn't known, 70 years until after the money was printed ("published"). In other countries, money design is public domain. I have no idea what the situation in Haiti is. —Angr 14:00, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
I've asked the only sysop and admin of Haiti and I'll get the information from him -- Jlorenz1 22:38, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Hallo Angr, please forgive me: This image was only 2 days in Wikipedia for a controverse. It was against the copyright, please delete it for me. Thanks -- Jlorenz1 22:36, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Why?

20:39, maj 7, 2007 Angr (Talk | bidrag) slettede "User:Rtc" (content was: '{{delete|Being a loose cannon}}' (and the only contributor was User:Wegge))

Why? -- /Wegge 18:44, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Because the deletion request was spurious. You created the page to request its deletion. —Angr 18:45, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
No, I created it to request deletion of the user. -- /Wegge 19:02, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Please delete

Hallo Angr,

please delete my pictures:

For Image:Hostinne mestsky znak.jpg I've created my own arm see image:hostinné.svg. And the both other shows little artifacts under SVG. (look the flames left above) or in the left corner of the fireplace. There is still a third image Image:DesLöschteufelsGroßmutter.svg, which is in use. By the way, do know from the fairy tales "Des Teufels Großmutter", how would you translate "Des Löschteufels Großmutter" in English? Does the expression "Löschteufel" exists in English? Thanks -- DesLöschteufelsGroßmutter 00:26, 18 May 2007 (UTC) respectively -- Jlorenz1 00:30, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I've deleted them. I don't know the fairytale "Des Teufels Großmutter", and I don't know what it's called in English. And I don't know what a "Löschteufel" is. —Angr 21:42, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
The end of fairy tale of the "Des Teufels Großmutter" The grandmother of the devil promised a boy to get 3 golden hairs from the devil and to solve his 3 problems. Cause the devil is a maneater she is hiding the boy under her skirt. In the late evening the devil is coming back. "I 'm smelling human flesh", but his Grandmother is saying it's only an illusion. After eating the devil is tired and is sleeping in the lap. Now she is beginning to sheer a hair. The devil is wakeing up. 'What are you doing?". Grandma: "I'vedreamed bad" (She is telling now the first problem of the boy Why a fountain has no water etc) 'Oh, that is easy. Kill the toad at the bottom and now let me sleeping". She is doing the same thing two times more. and in ther morning - the devil is away - she givcers the boy the three golden hair and the 3 solutions of his problem. On his way home he is telling every princess one solution and is marring the last one. And with the 3 hairs and the presents of the other princesses he is returning home to see his parents. So the grandma is a only figure of this and two other fairy tales ...
...in German "Feuerteufel" is the same like the "firebug". It is someone, who must set sth on fire and do this again and again (in some cases a fire man, who looks for work) A "Löschteufel" is someone like the firebug with the difference, that he must morbidly delete articles again and again ;-) This example shows me one more time, that it is in some cases impossible to translate 1:1. That was my first experience in France too! Bye Johannes -- Jlorenz1 00:43, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Image without license deleted

Hi! An other administrator (User:Adambro) deleted on 8 June an image (Image:Left Mouse Button.png) which I had uploaded saying that the copyright wasn't clear. I taked the image from an other Wikisite (http://wiki.blender.org/), and precisely at this link: http://wiki.blender.org/uploads/1/10/Template-LMB.png. Because of this the image is under the GNU license, so I contacted the administrator who deleted it so that it can be restored, but he's taking a break. The restoration of this icon is urgent because a lot of pages in the italian WikiBooks use it, so I'm wondering if you can restore it. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your helpfulness, --Tommy 09:13, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

I am indeed on a break but do try to keep myself available to deal with any urgent issues. To clarify, I didn't delete the image but tagged it as missing licence info. I've replied on my talk page. The licence is still unclear. Just because it is from another website running a wiki does not mean it is available under GFDL, this may be where the confusion has arisen. SVG

I found Image:Blankireland.svg. It was in a rather sorry state so I cleaned it up for you. Let me know if you're going to attempt to make any more SVG images and I'll do what I can with them. Nickshanks 19:19, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Dear Angr,

Could you please provide a rationale for your decision to keep Template:Www.folketinget.dk? Regards, Kjetil r 21:10, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

There didn't seem to be any consensus for deleting it. —Angr 05:44, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, ich habe im Bild den Blauton gegen einen weniger "beißenden" ausgetauscht. Do you mind? --Obersachse 12:00, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Najaaa... ich mochte das beißende Cyan zwar lieber, aber die neue Farbe stört mich auch nicht. —Angr 08:24, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Dann sind wir uns ja einig ;-) --Obersachse 14:09, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Delete older version

Hi, Angr! Would you deleted the older version of Image:Injuredicon.svg? By the way, there is a template for such requests? Thanks! --Abu badali 18:01, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Done and done. I have no idea if there's a template for such requests. Commons is a lot less formal than Wikipedia about such things, so I doubt it. And since nonfree images aren't allowed here at all, deleting old versions of images isn't so terribly important in most cases. —Angr 19:23, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for all! --Abu badali 22:07, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Angr -- I have sent the requested proofs to the requested email address. I am the copyright holder on this image. It is from a docuemntary film I made. Protagonist Productions is the DBA I used when I created the documentary. So the image, which I made for the film, belongs to me, and has every right to be used on this site. I sent another permission in the email; I sent links to the IMDB proving I am the producer and director of the film; I sent links to a review of the movie that repeatedly mentions me by name.

Please do not delete this picture as it is not in violation. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hypnowheel (talk • contribs) at 22:23, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Just a note

Hey! I noticed your block here, and thought I'd let you know we have a {{Inappropriate username}} template for the talk pages of people who've contributed before they got blocked. Hi, I'm trying to figure out what happened to Image:Merenptah.jpg. I see that you deleted it, but the deletion reason doesn't make any sense to me. Thanks, Jeff Dahl 04:59, 28 November 2007 (UTC) If all it needs is a category to go in, I'm sure I can provide one. Jeff Dahl 05:02, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

It didn't have any source information that could verify its claim to be licensed under the GFDL. I don't think images get deleted just because they're not in categories. —Angr 16:29, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Please restore the above image, just deleted. The source is [1] from the Biblitheque Nationale de France, Paris. It is PD old, obviously, being 15th century . Thanks Johnbod en 87.194.23.18 19:02, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello, could you please undelete this file. I can supply information, as I did to another Arbo-image yesterday. Greetings, --Orland 20:23, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Okay, it's undeleted. —Angr 21:50, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Is it possible to see the edit history of this page? From what I remember, it should never have been in Category:Unknown. ¦ Reisio 23:54, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, it never had adequate source info. The oldest version said it was extracted from Image:Flag of Venezuela (state).svg, but (1) that doesn't have source info either, and (2) the image was updated several times, and the last version used is different from the version on the flag anyway. —Angr 15:50, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, (1) Image:Flag of Venezuela (state).svg hasn't been put into Category:Unknown, and (2) it could have been reverted to the version that matched... I guess deleting it was simpler than hitting '(revert)'? Is it possible to see the edit history of this page? ¦ Reisio 19:10, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Image:Flag of Venezuela (state).svg hasn't been put into Category:Unknown yet, but it could be put there at any time. And when Category:Unknown has thousands of images in it and backlog of several weeks, yes, deleting is much easier than tracking down the history of every single image to see whether it belongs in that category despite the fact that no one has challenged it in the several weeks it's been there. Moreover, the original version was apparently inaccurate if Andreas1's comment "horse must be galoping [sic]" is correct. The edit history is as follows:

Hi angr ... as I know that this pic id PD and it was widely used on many projects .. how could it be deleted ... another modified image from it is Image:Noreligion.jpg --Chaos 13:43, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

It had no source information. Even PD images need source information so their PD status can be verified. —Angr 17:19, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

It's that OK?

No, it doesn't have a license on it. If Rudolf4310 drew this version himself, he needs to license it under one of the "self-made" tags. If he took from the website given as "source", he either needs to show that they released it under a free license or we can't use it. —Angr 11:11, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Inaccurate Map

I do not understand why northwestern Indiana is only colored brown on the map to the right side of the Northern Cities Vowel Shift article. I met a man just the other night from Michigan City, and he diphthongized /æ/ to [eə] or something similar in his speech. I think northwestern Indiana should at least be surrounded by the red line; maybe even all three lines. I don't grasp how the Indiana border signifies the terminus of the "core" of the NCVS, yet the Wisconsin border with Illinois does not. This area is mostly part of Chicagoland, so I don't see why the people there would speak a different dialect (excluding the speakers of African American Vernacular English, who make up a majority of the population in Gary among other places in the region) than those in the Illinois and Wisconsin part of that region. Also, one with a keen eye will notice that northwestern Indiana is included as part of the "core" in the Inland North article (it is highlighted in blue); however, it is not enclosed by all three lines on the map in the NCVS article. You are the author of one of the maps. This needs to be fixed. Thanks. 208.104.45.20 (talk) 19:10, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

The map is based on the published data in the Atlas of North American English. If I'm going to change the map, I have to do it on the basis of other published data. —Angr 16:40, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

That means the map in the Inland Northern American English article is the incorrect one. Thanks, now I understand the problem. 208.104.45.20 21:10, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
