First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Commons:Village pump/Copyright discussion

Hi, in case you haven't saw, I just wanted to let you know about a discussion that "M.Bitton" (the largely destructive editor who you are all too familiar with unfortunately) started regarding copyright policies on Commons that I suspect could be about you. I've been keeping my eye on it for the past couple days now and my antennas flared up once I saw this, it became all too clear and I am almost certain. Of course, this comes at no coincidence considering they clashed with you recently on en.wp and here on Commons (I also noticed some cross-wiki stalking about a map about Libya I believe), although this certainly is not their first time clashing and harassing (seemingly/likely Moroccan) editors (SADIQUI, EdDakhla, Omar-Toons, Taha Khattabi, Mhd240 and more recently Al.Massira and محمد٢ are perfect examples), including accusing me of being a sock puppet on a Deletion Request page for one of his files. Anyway, just wanted to give you a heads up about this alarming discussion because obviously somethings seems fishy (and not the good type of fish) and maybe you can revise some of the sourcing (presumably) for the up-to-date 2021 CIA World Factbook maps you uploaded so he won't have anything in this little case of his, although your file sourcing looks fine to me at the moment. He is also uploading outdated and poorly-sourced CIA World FactBook maps of Africa/the world because apparently the current 2021 maps "contain factual errors" to them (clearly a unified and undivided map of Morocco doesn't sit well with them). Clearly this is part of their mass cross-wiki anti-Morocco campaign (actions repeat), Algeria/Polisario nationalists have no limits. Regards. 204.108.148.73 16:19, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Indeed. This user has no issue with showing his POV on edit summaries and article talk pages either. This type of cross-wiki manipulation, abuse, and harassment constitute major admin intervention.
