--McZusatz (talk) 12:24, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Hallo McZusatz, danke, alle Versionen stehen nun auf den richtigen Füßen. lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 14:18, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Cropping

Thank you for cropping File:Bundesarchiv Bild 146-2005-0141, Köln-Wahn, Rückkehr Konrad Adenauer aus Moskau.jpg. However, next time use -whenever possible- a lossless cropping tool. Thank you! --ALE! ¿…? 09:16, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

If you crop lossless there is often lost image data as well. Because you can just crop with an accuracy of 16*16 px you either leave some border in the image or you crop the image too far.--McZusatz (talk) 09:24, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes, this is true. However, for the Bundesarchiv images it is preferred to crop losslessly. IMHO, this should always be the preferred option if no important information is lost. --ALE! ¿…? 09:40, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Danke --McZusatz (talk) 09:59, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
--ALE! ¿…? 10:57, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Danke --McZusatz (talk) 17:01, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Uploading a second version of the same image

When you upload a second version of the same image, and it is not definitely an improvement, it is best to upload to a new name and use {{Other version}} to connect the two. This is what I've now done with File:Arrival of William III of Orange in England.jpg and File:Arrival of William III of Orange in England - alt.jpg. It takes a lot longer to fix this after the fact than to get this right in the first place, so it's a lot simpler to get it right when you upload.

By the way, you left the source still saying "H.F. Helmolt, History of the World, Volume VII, Dodd Mead 1902. Plate between pages 492 and 493. Scanned at 300 dpi." I haven't second-guessed you, and have left that on File:Arrival of William III of Orange in England - alt.jpg, but this certainly does not look to me like a 300-dpi scan from that book (the dimensions aren't correct, for starters, and it looks like a photograph of a page rather than a scan). If your source was something else - and I suspect it was - would you please correct that at File:Arrival of William III of Orange in England - alt.jpg. - Jmabel ! talk 15:01, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your effort. I corrected the source information. --McZusatz (talk) 15:35, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Somewhat similarly: File:Denny Regrade panoramic, 1909.jpg. I'm not going to bother splitting it, but when an image is part of an historical archive, as this one is (Seattle Municipal Archive), Commons usually wishes to preserve the original 'as is' and place any 'improved' version elsewhere. Someone might be interested in the the archive, in which case removing the border would not be desired. In this case, the border isn't particularly interesting, but there is little to lose by giving everything that might be of interest a distinct filename, and there is no real downside to it. - Jmabel ! talk 01:09, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

If someone is really interested in the original scan, he can access it through the file history. For me it seems more arduous to upload it under a new file name with respect to the fact that i only cropped out some black "border".--McZusatz (talk) 08:12, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Additionally it is much more complicated to find the right file/version if you have several files of the exact same content on wiki --McZusatz (talk) 11:02, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Please do not introduce the pernicious Inkscape "flowtext" nonsense into any SVG file, since doing so is guaranteed to make your revisions not be an improvement. AnonMoos (talk) 22:53, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Fotobearbeitung

Hallo McZusatz!

--McZusatz (talk) 15:04, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Unless there are some source images, there is no way to recreate a better panorama because data in the lover middle is missing. AzaToth 23:26, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

I think the lower middle part is not that important. You could just duplicate that snow. --McZusatz (talk) 09:31, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you, but why not just overwrite it onto the original file? We don't need to have two versions of this image.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 14:17, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

I uploaded it separately because I recreated it totally. If I had changed something in the "old" file, I had uploaded onto it.
As you can see in one of the upper sections I always have problems with deciding whether to upload it on the old file or to create a new one.--McZusatz (talk) 14:25, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
I get it, I saw. Please, in this case, since it's the same topic and we only need one, can you please just overwrite and delete the .2 version? It will save the original history, and yours is an improvement. Thanks.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 15:21, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
There?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 11:25, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

File:Bleimor_Scouting_flag_2.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 14:48, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

And I thought such kind of duplicate is not a reason for deletion... --McZusatz (talk) 12:24, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Hallo McZusatz,
du hast hier einen anderen Benutzer öffentlich als "Image theft" bezeichnet und ihm letztlich copyfraud ("pass it off as your own") vorgeworfen und zwar beides offenbar unbegründet.

This rotate-request wasn`t added by myself, it was added "automatically" by the Magnus upload-tool. --Gary Dee (talk) 14:07, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
