Wikimedia Foundation has received an e-mail confirming that the copyright holder has approved publication. This correspondence has been reviewed by an OTRS member and stored in their permission archive. The correspondence is available to trusted volunteers as ticket #2020042210011482.

File:Lowell Green.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

A file that you uploaded to Wikimedia Commons from Flickr, File:Island (2011 film) scene.jpg, was found available on Flickr by an administrator or reviewer under the license Noncommercial (NC), No derivative works (ND), or All Rights Reserved (Copyright), which isn't compatible with Wikimedia Commons, per the licensing policy. The file has been deleted. Commons:Flickr files/Appeal for license change has information about sending the Flickr user an appeal asking for the license to be changed. Only Flickr images tagged as BY (CC BY), BY SA (CC BY-SA), CC0 (CC0) and PDM (PDM) are allowed on Wikimedia Commons. If the Flickr user has changed the license of the Flickr image, feel free to ask an administrator to restore the file, or start an undeletion request.

Hello @Túrelio: , thank you for deleting the image. I wasn't clear about the Flickr designation "Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 Generic (CC BY-NC-SA 2.0)" and its compatibility with Wikimedia Commons licensing policy, but quickly realized that I was trying to message a bot while uploading the file. Originally, my preference was to use an image of the poster for the movie. I see many of them on Wikipedia, but not so many on Wikimedia Commons. Do you know if they allowed on one, and not the other, and could you explain the circumstances under which they are permitted, or point me in the right direction? Thanks again! WildStar (talk) 14:06, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, and welcome. I'm sorry, but the license restrictions -nc- (noncommercial) and -nd- (no derivatives) are not usable by themselves for Wikimedia Commons. For the reasons, please see Commons:Licensing/Justifications. If you can't get a compliant license, works with such restrictions may still be uploaded to English Wikipedia in compliance with en:WP:F because we don't allow Fair Use here.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 11:39, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that, and is why I requested a {{speedydelete}}. WildStar (talk) 19:47, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
