	SpBot archives all sections tagged with {{Section resolved|1=~~~~}} after 4 days.

Uploading SVG file fails with "This file contains HTML or script code that may be erroneously interpreted by a web browser."

Trying to upload an updated version of this file (gnuplot source to generate the SVG file is at the link) https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Operating_systems_used_on_top_500_supercomputers.svg fails with the above error message. Hard to say for sure without being able to look at the source of the file you're uploading, but Javascript is forbidden... AnonMoos (talk) 14:20, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

The updated version is generated with the very same version of gnuplot as the svg file downloadable at the given link. I couldn't find tags in the updated file which were not used in the previous file. (And of course there is no Javascript involved) --HeWhoMowedTheLawn (talk) 18:23, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

How do I resolve the problem? To me the message is a false positive. The message itself gives neither an unambiguous hint to the incriminated language nor a hint to an incriminated tag nor a hint to a human operator nor a hint to the name of the program that emitted the message nor a hint to the source of the program that emitted the message. How can I transfer a free video from flickr to Commons?

Hello. This is the file that I want to transfer to Commons. I tried with Flickr2Commons, but it didn't work. Is there a simple way to do it? Vcohen (talk) 20:00, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

The file itself is here, and its extension is mp4. I tried to convert it to ogg using zamzar.com and media.io, but both of them create a file with audio only. Vcohen (talk) 14:19, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

No option for someone else's work that the user owns the copyright to

Where is the option for cases where someone else has taken a photograph of you and yet you own the entire copyright to it? Please add a section for that. There's not even anything helpful for that yet. Softlavender (talk) 08:23, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

You'll need to send in a scanned copy of the en:Copyright transfer agreement, work for hire contract or employment record to our permission archive. (If you don't have any of those, you're probably not the copyright holder.) Then, if you're using the Upload Wizard, in the Release rights step, select This file is not my own work. Enter a source (e.g. "Work made for hire"), enter the author (the photographer's name), select Another reason not mentioned above, and in the input field, enter something like {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}}{{subst:OP}} (you can change the cc-by-sa-3.0 part to a different license of your choosing). —LX (talk, contribs) 16:28, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

how to upload biography with photos to Wiki Commons

I'm trying to submit a biography of Arlyn Gale, a singer/songwriter/recording artist from the 1970s but wiki won't accept the file which ends in .doc. Help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katemagruder (talk • contribs) 15:18, 15 July 2013‎ (UTC)

We don't host any .doc files. There are two main reasons for this:

• .doc is a file suffix typically used to denote files that primarily consist of text. Wikimedia Commons is a media repository. We primarily host media files: images, video and audio. See Commons:Project scope/Summary.
• .doc is a file suffix typically used to denote a non-standard, proprietary legacy file format. Commons only hosts free content in free file formats. See Commons:File types. —LX (talk, contribs) 16:32, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Katemagruder -- Aside from problems with Microsoft Word files, we don't really host articles here. If Arlyn Gale is "notable" by Wikipedia standards, then you should go to Wikipedia to start an article on him over there. AnonMoos (talk) 06:55, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Image type

I'm not sure what the "it" you're referring to is, but we don't host .bmp files either. The Windows bitmap format is horribly inefficient. You should use JPEG (for lossy compression of photos) or PNG (for lossless compression and images with uniformly colored fields such as logotypes). —LX (talk, contribs) 10:24, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Suddenly upload wont go past check mark

I have been attempting to upload images and can't get past the green checkmark. Nothing happens when I attempt to click next to release rights. Own image full copyright. Just took it a little earlier today of an antique clock over 130 years old.--Amadscientist (talk) 20:21, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Agreed. Exactly the same problem here. Tried it in Chrome and Firefox, tried uploading different files, exactly the same issue every time. I'm 99% sure it's a problem with whatever software controls the upload wizard - Java maybe? Anyway, it's definitely server-side. Falastur2 (talk) 20:29, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

What should I do next after approval of my picture

It means that there are internal problems with the software. If you wait a little while and try the upload again, it will probably go away... AnonMoos (talk) 07:38, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
