Confirmed

See also: Autoconfirmed users.
I'd like confirmed so I can upload new versions of images, so I don't have to keep logging into my old account(おやすみ) to do it. Thank you. Pinkie Pie (talk) 21:20, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done. --Dereckson (talk) 17:22, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Pinkie Pie is already "autoconfirmed", no need for "confirmed" ... a×pdeHello! 10:49, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, I think he became autoconfirmed around 20:00 UTC the same day (4 hours after my flag assignment, according the log). We were too slow to handle this request. --Dereckson (talk) 16:30, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there are only very few cases where a user needs to be confirmed manually. Maybe we should add some note to this section? a×pdeHello! 19:37, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I thought Pinkie Pie has a strong need to upload quickly pictures. Maybe a message asking "Why do you need to upload pictures before the 4 days delay?" would help to deal with such cases. --Dereckson (talk) 23:49, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol

See also: Autopatrolled users.
I've uploaded several images here, I'm aware of how copyright and copyleft licenses work and I have access to a lot of public domain material as well. I'm an English Wikipedia sysop with plenty of copyright experience. Also, I like how you've automatically put a "Thank you" on the template, but thank you anyway ;). Thank you. TParis (talk) 15:14, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
One other thing. The link to "count" in the {{Rfr}} template should be updated to change ~soxred93 to ~tparis.--TParis (talk) 15:16, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Good afternoon,
I checked your contributions, thank you to now use the correct public domain licenses.
The fact you're sysop on en. or have an access to public domain material isn't a real argument explaining why you need your contributions to be autopatrolled. I suggest you adjourn your request, waiting you've several hundred contributions, which is a more appropriated standard to request the autopatrolled flag. --Dereckson (talk) 16:37, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This user surely is trustworthy but I can see that uploading only 9 images might be a bit sparse. Autopatrolled is mainly of benefit to the new page patrollers so that they don't have to scrutinize trustworthy users who upload many images. It's not really a right which benefits the uploading user. If your uploads are soundly based they will get marked soon enough. SpeakFree (talk) 23:18, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Long time good contributor and a trusted editor. No need to patrol his edits. Thank you. Sreejith K (talk) 11:35, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question Why did you exactly need rollback rights? I don't see a single "undo" in your recent contribs... Trijnstel (talk) 14:23, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aksing again, because, User:Béria Lima did not see that I'm a trusted user. So I want this flag, for help me in my contributions. Thank you. Vitor Mazuco Msg 11:30, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Generally rights are handed out when they are required. What do you intend to do with this "right"? -- RE rillke questions? 13:15, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not done as I don't see a single "undo" in your latest contributions. Btw most people don't appreciate edits like these and these. Trijnstel (talk) 14:15, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I had just a doubt, that's why I asked to LX, and Martin. Vitor Mazuco Msg 20:23, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I regularly check IP's contributions and abuse log. It would be much easier to combat vandalism using rollback tool. I already had this right on the Persian Wikipedia, so I'm completely familiar with it. Americophile 00:52, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Filemover

[add request] (keep headline empty)

See also: Renaming guideline.
I regularly upload and edit files through working at the Graphics Lab and come across poorly or erroneously named files (such as -TableImage.svg or Cross of neith.svg) and would like to be able to correct and improve filenames for those I work on, as well as fixing poorly named uploads of my own. Thanks! NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 22:02, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Your edit count is yet a bit low, please use {{Rename}}. a×pdeHello! 10:05, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
How many edits is normally sufficient? NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 12:51, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have uploaded a number of files to Wikimedia Commons. I will be moving the DSC#### names to a more descriptive title. I am also an old user of Wikimedia Commons. I also have many rename requests: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. I have more rename requests, too. I also have a firm grasp of policies and guidelines of Commons, and I will be trusted with the right. One of my images was the POTD for Odia Wikipedia, too. Thank you. Dipankan001 (talk) 10:36, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not done you need more experience, please use {{Rename}} meanwhile. Please accept what you've been told in the "autopatrol"-section above! a×pdeHello! 13:01, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What is there to shout at? Be polite and respectful. Can you tell me when can I ask for the filemover? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dipankan001 (talk • contribs)
THIS IS SHOUTING, axpde was not. This is where to apply. You applied, and were declined. (sorry I misread your question) --99of9 (talk) 05:55, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Dipankan001 asked when, not where. Dipankan001 can apply when he has made enough {{Rename}} requests to prove that he knows the policies. Next time when you apply for the rights, please let us know the files which you have suggested renaming. --Sreejith K (talk) 06:48, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'm adding more few - 9, 10, 11, 12, and as I had given before, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Is this insufficient example? Thanks, Dipankan001 (talk) 11:49, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I am not quite happy with this request. The name wasn't that big to ask for a rename. It was renamed only because you were the uploader. --Sreejith K (talk) 11:53, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Now I'll remember that. All my other requests are successful, too. I just asked for it to be renamed because the name was more easy and quick to write, i.e if we type in a hurry, anyone may make a spelling mistake as the name is quite large. Dipankan001 (talk) 12:04, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Any replies? Dipankan001 (talk) 11:25, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've uploaded few more files. Dipankan001 (talk) 15:36, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Comment IMHO a user should have an experience of at least 1500~2000 edits to get filemover right. a×pdeHello! 14:26, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't notice any thing like that before. Dipankan001 (talk) 08:46, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is no exact number of edits you need to have, as I said *I* expect to see at least 1500~2000 edits. a×pdeHello! 10:10, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Now I currently have about 108 files uploaded. Dipankan001 (talk) 10:21, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Is this a successful request. or is this going to be declined? If declined, when should I apply for it? Dipankan001 (talk) 09:13, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This request is  declined as 250 edits is really not enough for now. Please use {{Rename}} for a while and re-apply later if you have enough experience. Usually that's when you have between 1500 and 2000 edits. So really, wait for a while now. Thanks for your understanding. Trijnstel (talk) 14:12, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If one can apply for adminship with over 1000 edits, I think asking for 2000 edits for a filemover is a bit too much. Whats important is how much you have understood the policy and how you have displayed it. I think a fair number of valid rename requests should be enough, although I really can't comment how much is a fair number. --Sreejith K (talk) 14:47, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Sreejithk2000. Set a target of at least 500 edits? 1500 is too much. Dipankan001 (talk) 15:40, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You may ask any questions if you like. Dipankan001 (talk) 07:06, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop asking right now. Your request is declined, no matter if you agree with the current rules or not. Trijnstel (talk) 17:54, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, never mind. Dipankan001 (talk) 09:14, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question Can you give any examples to show that you understand renaming policy?--Morning Sunshine (talk) 08:17, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, if needed for not descriptive name, for example: 776656543456665333_9.jpg , with errors, example: Barac Hobama, president of USA.jpg > Barack Obama, president of USA.jpg, or for a despective name for a public pearson that makes difficult the search. --Ginés90 (talk) 15:43, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done OK--Morning Sunshine (talk) 07:23, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I'm a wikimedian since 2008 and would like to have those rights mainly to correct my mistak-named imports, or "change meaningless (or wrong) bio-names into binomial scientific names" when I see it. Thank you. Totodu74 (talk) 13:33, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
Could you give two examples of those meaningless bio-names (without being wrong), one you would want to rename, the other you would keep according the policy? --Dereckson (talk) 15:53, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Searching in my old imports (my first one was RSCN3649.JPG x|) I would say for example Larve d'éphémère.JPG into Ephemera danica larva.JPG if the species is identified, or Obrimus asperrimus (Safari Park Vergel, Espagne).jpg into Unintentified pashmid (Safari Park Vergel, Espagne).jpg since it's not the right species. I would not rename MilvagoCarunculatusIbis.jpg into Phalcoboenus carunculatus Ibis.jpg because the genus is now Phalcoboenus and Milvago carunculatus is now an old synonym (or to add spaces in the file name), neither Carcharhinus melanopterus Luc Viatour.jpg into Carcharhinus melanopterus head.jpg... Totodu74 (talk) 20:41, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I wanted to see if you would be reasonable enough not renaming any "not perfect name" filename. Right granted. --Dereckson (talk) 23:14, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I want file mover rights, mostly to correct my own uploads. Thank you. Handcuffed (talk) 08:22, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If possible, more than one. --Sreejith K (talk) 11:08, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For example, File:Massages.ogv is not a descriptive name, so I would expand it. Another example is File:Kink.com photo shoot 2.jpg, which I realized is not a photo shoot, but is a pornographic film set. Another example is File:Betty Page Klaw 8.jpg, where I misspelled "Bettie". Thanks. Handcuffed (talk) 05:33, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You're entitled to rename those files, as you're the uploader (point 1 from the Commons:File renaming guidelines).
Would you entitled to do those corrections if you weren't the uploader? --Dereckson (talk) 07:32, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I would be able to correct the latter two, as they are misleading or have mistakes in them. Renaming File:Massages.ogv is a bit less justified, since it's not a completely meaningless name. I would probably not rename files like this if I hadn't uploaded them. Handcuffed (talk) 16:22, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I would like the file-mover permission so that I do not have to use the rename template anymore. I will be using it for the IMGs and files I spot. I have the permission already on enwiki. Thank you. Ebe123 (talk) 01:32, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well, I would move the file on enwiki as it would not affect the global useage. But if the reason for a rename is of an error or a bad filename, then I would move the file where it's an error. Ebe123 (talk) 12:38, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done good luck a×pdeHello! 00:22, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was already granted filemover right but User:Trijnstel removed it because she thought I had renamed "files without following the policy". At first she removed my filemover right and then asked me for an explanation. I explained for her that I had renamed files according to the renaming policy, but she refused to give it back. She asked other sysops opinions about this problem and they unanimously stated that she was wrong. Now I want my filemover right back. Thank you. Americophile 01:33, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This discussion shows you neglect the substantive argument about the galleries guidelines and only read what you want to read, ie some sysops wouldn't have suppressed your right.
I'd probably personally discussed the issue with you instead to remove directly the flag, but seeing how you react in the AN discussion and in the current request, I'm strongly against giving you the flag back. --Dereckson (talk) 20:28, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Have you ever read the gallery guidelines? If so, you must know that there was/is no arguments like "Please take a look at کرمانشاه where all descriptions are in English. This mix is, in my opinion, not helpful. Multiple galleries in different languages can happily co-exist to the same topic" so I was not aware of it, but when User:AFBorchert wrote this argument, I found it completely logical and I tried to follow his opinion in Iran and Hamid Karzai galleries (i.e. making them bilingual). If I "only had read what I wanted to read" as you say, I wouldn't make them bilingual at all.
Please consider the fact that moving galleries is completely irrelevant to the filemover right. Furthermore, I don't see any hostility or illogical reactions in the AN discussion or even this request by myself. If there is, please let me know. Americophile 21:09, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
