Hello, please kindly review the deletion of this file, the DR provided seems not to be the request for the same file. Otherwise, please leave a message here, thank you in advance.--Hamish (talk) 09:44, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, I think this is a bug done by the tool used to close the DR, sorry. The right DR is there and have also been closed as "deleted", as I agreed with the rationale. Christian Ferrer (talk) 13:55, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- Fine. In terms of TOO china, I would like to request your view on this case. And, I wish I could get the original file of the page on title, if it is possible, please advise.--Hamish (talk) 14:59, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- I think the deletion is justified, but the DR is open since yesterday and we usually wait at least 7 days. We will see at that time. Christian Ferrer (talk) 17:02, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you. And I'm sorry about the missing text above. What I wanted to say is that "please advise whether I could get the original file".--Hamish (talk) 16:56, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

OTRS
Hi again, I've looked through the OTRS templates and couldn't seem to find the right one. It's about File:Sissel-Jo Gazan.jpg where it's written under Licensing that the photographer has given permission. I assume such would need to be confirmed. TherasTaneel (talk) 23:50, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the notification. I tagged the file with "No permission" and deleted 2 other files uploded by the same user. Christian Ferrer (talk) 05:44, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

Patrol user right
Hello, I would like to help out by patrolling new images. I have some basic knowledge of copyright—especially older European images, United States public domain, and own work. I am a New Page Patroller on enwiki and was recently granted autopatrol on Commons. In controversial cases, or if I am not sure, I would leave patrolling to more experienced users. Buidhe (talk) 07:15, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks you for your help, I granted you the patroller right. Christian Ferrer (talk) 09:02, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. It looks like you removed autopatrol. These are separate user groups so unless you think I shouldn't be autopatrolled, could I have that right back? Thank you! Buidhe (talk) 09:28, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- If I missed nothing, the autopatroller's rights are implicit part of the patroller's rights; that would be redundant; see Commons:Patrol#Autopatrol: "Users with the patrol user right should not be granted this right,...". Christian Ferrer (talk) 09:39, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
Dear Christian,
If you know how to mark this image which is supposed to be under GFDL and not the flickr PD-Mark license at the flickr source, feel free to do so. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:53, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry I can not help very much. I don't know well the GFDL licenses, there is not the version number of the license. Christian Ferrer (talk) 06:49, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thank You Christian. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 10:41, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Request
Hello, I would like to ask you a request for image review as i am quite rookie around here. Well, i transferred an image from flickr to commons for an article. But, the bot is asking for a review by an administrator. So, can you please help me? Thank you! Lakshmisreekanth (talk) 19:21, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, the license is ok, however I can not review it, and I nominated it for deletion because the photo is a derivative work of depicted banner, and therefore further copyrights are involved. See Commons:Derivative works. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:46, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
- I guess it is not related to derived works because it is not derived from other sources. Could you please provide a source for the claims you added to the image? Lakshmisreekanth (talk) 04:30, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- I answered in the DR. Christian Ferrer (talk) 05:35, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- I had, replied there. Please reconsider your opinion once. Lakshmisreekanth (talk) 06:42, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Dear Christian, Re: Second opinion
Someone asked me on my talkpage to review this image but I think it is not free and does not follow COM:WHERE LICENSE. If you agree please review and fail this image. It is almost 3 AM and I am going to bed. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 10:44, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, me too I'm not abble to find a free license, I tagged the image (and the cropped one too) with "No permission". Christian Ferrer (talk) 11:58, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I couldn't understand the issue. It is a YouTube screenshot like this one. The Doom Patrol (talk) 12:40, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, the difference is in the YouTube page, you click on "PLUS" and there is a License Creative Commons that is available. Christian Ferrer (talk) 12:56, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks Christian for your help. The uploader may not be as familiar with Youtube licenses as I thought. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 19:39, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

Licenses
Thank you for all your help. I uploaded to commons a photo from the French Wikipedia. I don’t if I entered the right license. Can you help me, please? KosmoGelo (talk) 19:16, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, that was not the right license. The logos can be uploaded if:
- they are in public domain (help) for a specific reason; or
- they are freely licensed by their owner, in such case a web link must be provided; or
- they are below the threshold of originality; or
- the copyright holder sends directly a permission to OTRS
- cc-by-sa-4.0 was bogus here. The logo may be below Threshold of originality and I tagged it as such. However this case is borderline and I don't know at all Spain copyright law, and don't be surprised if someone nominate the file for deletion. Christian Ferrer (talk) 21:57, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
Dear Christian,
If you can, please delete the second 8 February 2010 reupload by me in this image here. Its rather distracting with 3 reuploads. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 10:33, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

This DR
Dear Christian,
Do you know if I made a mistake in this DR? I don't know what CC BY license is mentioned or if it is CC BY NC. I don't even see the image file on the website actually but I did not mention that. Please feel free to make a reply against me in the DR if I am in error as I am certainly not perfect. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 08:49, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: I don't even know if the image is CC0 as the uploader states. --Leoboudv (talk) 08:50, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- IMO you're fully right, the main and first point is that the image is not visible... Secondly even if it was visible in the page quoted as a source, it fail the term of uses, because by reading I understand 1/the CC license apply only to articles, and not to the rest of the website 2/ even if my point 1 is wrong, there is not yet the precision of what kind of CC license and it may be a NC or ND license 3/ if the point 1 is right the rest of the web site is protected by copyright and not free of use (see section "Website Content").
I don't comment in the DR, I will close it as deleted in 7 days if nothing new has come. Christian Ferrer (talk) 09:19, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: Thank You Christian for the advice. Sometimes DRs are very confusing (or stressful) when an uploader makes claim X or Y and I don't know if I am right or wrong. Kind Regards from Vancouver where its 2:08 AM. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 10:08, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

PD tags for Yemen
Hey! On Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Noahedits you wrote "bogus pd tag: Yemenit tags are for works published in Yemen not for all photos taken in Yemen." I would like to clarify for future reference that per
This work was created in Yemen and is now in the public domain because its term of copyright has expired according to Yemeni Law as of 2012 (English translation) (details). This work meets one of the following conditions:
To uploader: Please provide where the image was first published and who created it.
You must also include a United States public domain tag to indicate why this work is in the public domain in the United States. |
, Yemeni specifically designates works as public domain that were " created in Yemen," specifically "photographic work[s] produced more than ten years ago." While a URAA tag would necessitate publication info, it is incorrect to say that Yemeni PD is based on publication rather than creation. Thank you! Noahedits (talk) 07:18, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, if a photo is taken in Yemen and firt published in, example, France, so the copyright law of France apply. Independantly of what Yemen law says. Exemple if I go today to Yemen, I take a photo of a natural tree, I come back home, and I publish it into Wikimedia Commons, so the US copyright law apply because the servers are in USA. Unless I missed something, I'm pretty sure of that. Furthermore the wording "was created" is here a translation, and therefore may be subject to interpretation IMO.
- @Eatcha: Hello, I noticed that you are a but used to deal with BOTs. Our colleague Archaeodontosaurus said above that User:VICbot is not working well since a few days, and the maintener don't seems to be active. Are you able to help? Christian Ferrer (talk) 09:12, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
- IDK, if you read this week's tech news, most probably it's due to pywikibot compatibility issue. I don't have access to this tool on project toolforge, but I will try to fix it locally and send a patch to Daniel on GitHub. PS: The source is quite ancient, some dependencies aren't maintained anymore. + I am simultaneously working on 4 bot requests, 3here and one on another wiki. This can take some time. -- Eatcha (talk) 04:16, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks you very much Eatcha for your help. Christian Ferrer (talk) 08:19, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Bonjour Christian,
Christian Ferrer (talk) 18:11, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

Wrong License for Deleted Images
The following files were deleted because I made a mistake when assigning the copyright to them. The library created them and we have no problem making them free. Can you please undelete them? File:Book_Group_Before_the_Fall_Shelf_Talker.jpg File:Staff_Pick_A_Piece_of_the_World_Shelf_talker.jpg File:Fitness_Apps.jpb File:Healthy_Aging.jpg
Thanks! Brad — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bionic Librarian (talk • contribs) 18:44, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, no. There are two problems here. Firstly the images deleted are derivative works of several things such as texts, photos, book covers... All the legitimate copyright holders must send a permission to our permission system. Secondly the files must also fall within our project scope, and of course must not be advertizing. Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:24, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for the clarification. --Bionic Librarian (talk) 00:11, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

This DR
Dear Christian,
If you have the time or the inclination, please give your thoughts to this DR which I think is a big mess. I can't believe that TechCrunch licensed Getty Images freely and there are 2,704 of them on Commons. If you don't wish to make a reply, that is OK. I ask for opinions of professional Admins in the DR. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 10:35, 1 February 2020 (UTC)
