Brenneke.jpg[edit]

Hey Lax1, that's a terrific image that does a great job of illustrating the structure and composition of a deer slug. However, I was wondering if you had a higher quality version you could upload. I notice that the image is a JPEG. JPEGs do not support indexed colors, so there's no point in degrading the image quality by lowering its color depth. If you want to use color-indexing to reduce the file size, you should try a format such as PNG or GIF. Otherwise, simplying saving the photo with a lower quality (high compression) setting should achieve the same effect. You can experiment with the different formats and settings to see which produce the lowest file size without sacrificing image quality. JPEG works best with most photos, but PNG is better if there are a lot of solid colors, hard edges, straight lines, etc. --71.104.232.71 07:21, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
