Pay attention to licensing
|
Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose.
File:George Keith Cowlishaw.png seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file. If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

The reason given by the user who added this tag is: Photo is purportedly around 80 years old; unlikely that uploader created it

- Keith was my Godfather and my Grandfather took that photo of him in the 1940s in his house in Mosman and I have taken a photo of that photo and uploaded it to Wikipedia Commons. If I have breached Copyright I apologise but it is not to the best of my knowledge on any official site or in any offical publication. Should I not have said that he around in the 1940s? I would appreciate any assistance you are able to offer me. SproulesLane (talk) 03:15, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:Cecil Harold Hoskins.png. It only accepts free content, which is images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Reproductions of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this file must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added has been deleted. If you believe that this file was not a derivative work of a non-free work, you may request undeletion.
