Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

- @Trade Okey. How can I remove this image from Wikimedia Commons? St0lker12 (talk) 21:21, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- You can't. And neither can i. An admin will delete it within a short time Trade (talk) 21:23, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- In the future please do not upload pictures of video games without permission from the developer Trade (talk) 21:24, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Trade Very thank you. I'm just new user to the Wikimedia Commons environment, so I'm not familiar with somethin. Now, should I do nothing? Will my account not be blocked? St0lker12 (talk) 21:29, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- Dont worry. People only gets banned for copyright violations after multiple warnings over a longer period of time.
- The best way to contribute to Commons would be if you uploaded pictures that you have taken yourself either with your phone or a camera
- If you go to https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:Nearby and click "Show nearby pages" you can find a list of nearby locations that needs photos. Trade (talk) 21:36, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- OK. Thank you again. Then, I just have to wait for the admin to delete the photos. Another question. Maybe it's not your specialty. But, why can't I use images that appear to be on Wikipedia in the Ukrainian-language Wikipedia? Although, in the English-language Wikipedia, the file is calmly used. If you search for Wikimedia Commons, nothing is found when you search for the name of this file. But in the system, the file is present (it is not shown as red). How does it work? St0lker12 (talk) 21:47, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- Some Wikimedia projects have a rule called "Fair Use". This rule allows them to use copyrighted images as long as the images follow a very strict list of rules. Images uploaded to Commons have to be usable on every Wikipedia project and as such "Fair Use" images are not allowed here.
- Fair use images are uploaded to each Wikipedia locally meaning that fair use images uploaded to English Wikipedia can only be used on English Wikipedia and not anywhere else.
- Fair use images are allowed on the Ukrainian Wikipedia. If you want to use Fair use images on the Ukrainian Wikipedia you have to upload the image there, not here Trade (talk) 22:04, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- Okey, I understood you. St0lker12 (talk) 04:50, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
