bad tone

I saw your request about uploading the image with my relatives pixeled out. I will not do it. To pixel people out of the picture is a bad omen. I could only add that I was able, and did took the separate images of both turtles from the same place. I did mention manual cloning, and did not specify what exactly was cloned only because I did not believe it was such a big deal, and because I am lazy in writing good descriptions. It definitely not deserved a reaction I've got from you, and the accusation of the right turtle cloned too was beyond ridiculous and a great example of assumption of a bad faith. Both turtles were basking on the rocks in a very close proximity to each other. Turtles are not good in walking the beach. If they need to bask, they bask at the ocean's edge. I brought the other turtle to the panorama not because I believed the image has a better chances on FP, but only because I wanted to show an atmosphere of the beach as I saw it with the turtles basking on the rocks. There was one more turtle in tidepool nearby. I had an idea adding her too, but it was way too much work to do it. Oh boy,I'm so glad I did not add that turtle. Aha bad omen...no other reason? Well, others have eyes too and I really don't want a fight with you.
To upload a faked picture is sth which in my opinion might be ok for flickr, but for sure not for commons. And here it doesn't matter how far this left turtle actually was away and imho it also doesn't matter for which intention you faked it. That's my very personal way of thinking. And you saw on your nomination that others have similar thoughts.
And the assumption that the right turtle might also be cloned in is "beyond ridiculous"?! Well the left one was fake and this assumption is "beyond ridiculous" - you must be kidding.

P.S. Wegen den unscharfen (Rand)bereichen. Das ist ein mir bekanntes Problem, was mich öfter nervt. Ich bin mir aber nicht sicher, ob es an der Linse selbst liegt oder eventuell am Fokus der Kamera. Hi, hast du dir schon mal den Test auf Photozone angeschaut? (die finde ich immer ganz gut) Da werden auch die Probleme im Rand-Bereich etwas angemosert. Dort kannst du auch sehen, bei welchen Blenden sich die Linse optimal verhält, danach versuche ich mich (wenn möglich) bei meinen "Problem-Linsen" immer grob zu richten. Permission to publish picture of St. Paul

I am one of 4 authors currently working on an academic book on the history of concepts about nerve function, soon to be published by a university press in the US. In a chapter dedicated to the state of knowledge on the subject in the early Christian period, the role of St Paul is mentioned, and we would like to insert at that point a picture of the marble statue exhibited in front of St. Peters Basilica (Vatican).

Wirklich gutes Bild, speziell wenn man weiss, dass für eine solche Ansicht vor dem Tor nicht viel Platz ist.
Die Kameroposition ist aber leider falsch und die Blickrichtung fehlt.
Meiner Meinung nach gehört die richtige Positionierung und die Blickrichtung dazu (in der Gegend Deiner Photographie gibts einige Beispiele von mir dafür).
Ich weiss, dass die Fotos an der Street Map hängen, und dass diese mit den Satellitenbildern zum Teil schlecht zusammenpassen.
Aber, wenn man in Wikimedia aktiv sein will, dann muss das auch in dieser Hinsicht perfekt sein. Ich meinerseits habe 2011 meine 940 Bilder über Taiwan 2010 durchgegangen und auf richtige Positionierung geprüft. Im Moment bin ich im Endspurt, aber einige fehlen noch, weil sie nicht angezeigt werden.
Übrigens: Sollten Bilder von Dir nicht in der Liste auftauchen, denn schieb die Karte einfach herum, bei grossen Clustern ist das Tool immer noch nicht fähig, alle anzuzeigen. Ich habe das schon mal angemerkt und es wurde auch verbessert, aber es ist immer noch nicht genug.
Eine Korrektur der Position kann übrigens 10 Minuten oder manchmal sogar Tage oder Wochen brauchen.

Danke für das Lob. Wieso denkst du, dass die Kameraposition nicht stimmt? Ich habe zugegebenermaßen die Position aus google maps geholt, aber die sollte doch eigentlich stimmen. Ich habe das Bild leider nicht ganz zentriert gemacht, da ich wohl etwas links der Mitte stand. Das mit den Ausrichtungen muss ich mir noch anschauen. Man sieht durch den mittleren Torbogen von der linken Seite des Memorials mehr als von der rechten. Die Kameraposition ist meiner Meinung nach ungefähr 4 Meter südlich (und dann wahrscheinlich auch 2 Meter westlich).
Man muss allerdings wissen, dass die Kamerapositionen an die Street Map gekoppelt sind. Diese passt manchmal nicht gut auf das Satellitenbild. Da gibt's nichts anderes, als von Zeit zu Zeit nachzuschauen. In Taipei ist das aber schon recht gut.
Die Blickrichtung (Heading) beträgt meiner Meinung nach etwa 110. Über die minimale Schrittweite bin ich mir da noch nicht im Klaren (5,10,90/8,90/16 oder vielleicht sogar 1 Grad?).
Ich lasse Dir per e-mail noch ein Excel-Tool zukommen, das ich schon seit Jahren für Position, Text und Kategorien brauche. So kann ich alles in Ruhe vorbereiten und dann zuerst das Bild und dann in einem zweiten Schritt den ganzen Rest hinaufladen. Bräuchte natürlich ein paar Anpassungen (User, Lizenz, Eintrag QualityImage bei den Kategorien, Sprachen).
