Hi Benh! It is very nice of you and other wikiusers to "welcome" new users like me. It has been nice to join you guys and I have felt encouraged and inspired by your excellent work in the Wikipedia. It really makes you feel part of something big and important. Hi Behn. I like your v high res panorama of this cirque. I like the new crop with the roads and mountains forming diagonals with the corners. But I have a couple of questions. Firstly, I see the colours are quite different from the previous versions. They appear quite (possibly too) vivid to me. What is your recollection? Was the original duller than reality? Secondly, some of the houses, poles and trees are not absolutely vertical (the centre is fine). What perspective did you use? Have you tried one that preserves verticals? Did you supply vertical control points to Hugin? The slightly sloping walls aren't a deal-breaker to me as the subject is the landscape, not the houses, and any perspective is going to have some distortion. - Hi Colin, yes, I set the colours to a much warmer tone and pushed the saturation a bit farther. Not sure this is more faithful to reality, but not unrealistic I think, and far more to my tastes :). The lighting was very harsh and vertical (was taken around noon if I'm right), so the first versions are certainly too dull. Truth is certainly between the two versions. As for the projection, it's a rectilinear. I could set the viewpoint to keep the verticals so (I would have to direct it to somewhere above the cascade), but I'm not sure this would improve this much. If I had more time, I would try, but right now it's hard (don't even have time to get rid of the stains in the sky). At least the middle part is vertical, so I think it's OK. - I've just noticed you have an even larger version with more detail. Amazing. How many shots composed this image? I'm not sure I understand your comment about viewpoint. I'm still learning about how best to use Hugin and projections. I've been setting vertical control points on each component image, as I find that makes them align even better and saves trying to fix the final image. For my recent pic File:King's Cross Station Euston Road 2012-05-27.jpg I was happy to get straight verticals all over as a result. I first tried a rectilinear projection, as it is just within the limits of that projection, but it stretched the vehicles and people at the edges, making them fatter/shorter. So I chose a cylindrical projection. On a different picture (not uploaded as it had paralax problems) I've been playing with the Panini General projection, which has the interesting property of keeping-straight the verticals and also any diagonals coming from a centre-point of perspective. Hello Benh, first of all many thanks for your interest and time to improve this picture! I like your version and you can get the RAW file if you want. I am curious, how did you select the area that you darkened? Manually or via an automated way? Can such a change just be introduced "on the fly"? - Hi Poco, I could do it for you from the RAW file, but if you own Lightroom, it's easy to do it yourself: I used Lightroom "local" adjustment feature. I added a gradient on the bright left part side and reduced exposure and boosted contrast + saturation to match right side. It doesn't matter to perfectly place it (but you can try as many time as needed if you r not satisfied). Wasn't sure if you would like. - Hello Benh, it took me a while, but I think that it looks definitely better. It took me a while because I didn't use Lightroom before, but this one was the right excuse to do so (Miguel -Lmbuga- tells me the whole time that that software is great). I downloaded the trial version, applied a gradient filter (decreasing exposure and increasing contrast) and later increased exposure overall. Since I am convinced about the result I didn't open a parallel nomination. I hope, that is not a problem. Thanks for the hint and all the best! Poco a poco (talk) 16:38, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello Benh, I saw your comment in FPC about providing a bit of more ground in the bottom of the image. As you can see in the different versions of the document that is possible, but I am not sure about touching the image, since the reception has been so far very good (you know, don’t change a running system). - Hi Poco ! That's mostly a personal taste issue, so I think you shouldn't care too much and present the subject the way you intend to. Hello Benh, did you review the picture after I made my last comment in the FPC page? The sharpness is almost to the minimum and since I take the picture in RAW, they have no sharpness when I process them. I have in all my pictures usually 3 times more sharpness than what I have in that picture. About the building in the background, could you add a note? I don't know which one you mean. - I cannot see anything. Could you add a note to a spot where the problem is obvious? Right now I don't know what I am looking for. I have been playing with the sharpening live and going below 30 (out of an scale of 150) in ACR would guide to clear loss of sharpening, that would be in my eyes contraproductive. - Trop fort ? Pourquoi ? Je dis la même chose que toi, mais sur la page elle-même, et avec des mots plus explicites, c'est tout. N'y a t'il pas eu, tout soudain, un rameutage de Germains en vue d'assurer la promotion de l'image de l'un des leurs ? Donc, " l'Allemagne par dessus tout ", voilà, c'est dit.
- En QI, c'est encore pire. Le petit jeu à-toi-à-moi entre Taxiarchos 228 et Ralf Roletschek (et inversement) crève les yeux et manque vraiment, à la longue, de subtilité.
