- Support Awesome capture, possibly a POTY 2018 candidate. Not only is the technical quality very good (so good you can even see the pupil of the eye), the bird's posture is also something to savour. A real "moment frozen in time" kind of shot.--Peulle (talk) 06:44, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
- Support - I concur with the others, but is the young fledgling begging for food? If so, let's specify that in the file description. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:46, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
- Comment I'm actually not sure what kind of behavior this individual is showing. Maybe one of our biologists could help. --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 07:14, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
- From the picture, it looks like the bird is calling, making some kind of noise for some unspecified reason.--Peulle (talk) 08:38, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, the bird is calling I think. But Frank, what are the black blobs all over the image? Charles (talk) 15:47, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose unexplained black blobs. Charles (talk) 15:55, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- (a) Black blobs: some kind of seaweed, but I'm honestly not sure which species. (b) Behavior: I had a conversation about this with one of the main authors of the great cormorant article on the German Wikipedia. It could be that the bird was regurgitating a pellet. However, after looking at the whole image series that I took that day, I can't 100% confirm that. Another option is that the bird – given it was a very hot day – opened the beak to cool off (a behavior I've seen before with cormorants). I think it would be best not to add any additional information to the image description. Thanks, --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 23:53, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
