User talk:Davegnz~commonswiki
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

RE: your comment on my talk page
[edit]1) I didn't delete Image:PBJ-1 Flying leatherneck museum.jpg, that was done by User:Kved. But I tagged this image as NC according to the copyright note found on the website that you had named as source [1]: "Photos courtesy of Steve Smith Assistant Curator/Librarian and Jorge A. Dietsch Staff Photographer Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum. All photographs are the property of the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation & Museum, and their reproduction is permitted for non-commercial, educational purposes only. If reproduced, retransmitted or used in anyway, credit must be given to the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation and Aviation Museum - MCAS Miramar. Copyright © 2006. All rights reserved."
Images uploaded on Commons have to be free also for commercial use. In such a case, it is your task to provide proof that the image is free despite the above mentioned claim.
2) I didn't delete Image:Boeing B-17G 44-83884.jpg, that was done by User:Rootology. I did only add a deep-link to the source image (http://www.8afmuseum.com/Boeing_B-17G.jpg).
3) I didn't delete Image:Enola gay NASM.jpg, that was done by User:Collard. But I did add a link to the copyright notice[2] on the website named as source by you.
4) My user name is under the three deletion notifications on your talk page because I was the one who notified you about the pending deletions requested (and later performed) by other users.
5) Any deleted image can be undeleted on your request, but for that you should provide proof that these images actually didn't violate copyright. --Túrelio (talk) 18:43, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Davegnz. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Davegnz~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
