Alaska flag
[edit]I just wrote to their government to try and get actual diagrams of the state flag and other things. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 01:36, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you! I just created a version based on a mockup I found on the Alaskan digital archives. [1] The mockup was very proportional - like most official flag designs. So, I think the mockup is accurate enough to use for the time-be. Thanks again! - DevinCook (talk) 04:59, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- I am still not certain about the ratio, but the original one was pretty strange. It probably should be 2x3, but I had nothing official to tell me for sure. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 06:38, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- I got official specs now from the Alaska Government. The ratio is 1000x1416. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 06:27, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- WOW. Fantastic work! The flag looks incredible! DevinCook (talk)
- For my Pantone shades, I used http://www.pantone.com/pages/pantone/colorfinder.aspx. For stars, I used the code from the Chile flag file and used it on a few others. It might give more bytes in code, but the accuracy is second to none. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 02:10, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Did you code it by hand? There is an excellent free application called Inkscape that can edit SVG files. Check it out! Anyway, I agree 100% - accuracy is the most important. Thanks again! :D DevinCook (talk) 04:17, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I been using Inkscape since 2005, but I did code it by hand because I have exact specifications. Was not too hard; just take code from another file, change a few values and it was finished. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 04:24, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Flag deletion nominations
[edit]It probably would have been good if you had looked at the "user page image" policies and de-facto Commons treatment of "Special or fictional flags" images before nominating the images for deletion. However, it's true that some of the images you nominated are extremely stupid... -- AnonMoos (talk) 14:27, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- It wasn't that so much as that the deletion rationales were very generic, and fell short in terms of common Wikimedia Commons practices... AnonMoos (talk) 21:27, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
Commons:Deletion requests/File:Alternate OregonRequest01.svg
[edit]I honestly had no issues with the deletion of this file; when I redrew this flag, I had no idea it was just some alternate history flag before I got Homefront. The flag is only used in the game manual for Homefront and that is it from what I saw. While many users do upload fictional flags and it is confusing, but unless is a hoax or misleading as other said, it is generally not deleted. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 01:22, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
- But as for adding it to an article, not planning on it. Plus if someone does ask for it to be restored, it is very easy. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 01:23, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
