Относительно удаления файла «File:Sertifikat NSC «V.Ye. Tairov IViW».jpg»

Дорогой коллега Вы удалили файл «File:Sertifikat NSC «V.Ye. В свою очередь я, на упомянутой странице, привел свои аргументы почему надо оставить «File:Sertifikat NSC «V.Ye. Tairov IViW».jpg»

There is no need to dump a ton of other files on my talk page. Other stuff exists is not an argument. Again: The design IS under copyright protection. There is NO need whatsoever for a copyright notice, it's the law. Have a fresh look at your image. Do you see the background? That is above what Com:TOO allows. You didn't create the background, how can you decide it's ok to license with a CC license? Please read up on Com:Copyright. If you think that other files violate the rules, please nominate them for deletion. Thanks! C(_) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 23:57, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

You deleted relevant content and repleced it with old screenshots. I made those screenshots by myself. I do it with every new version, because of new changes in the program. Moreover, I work for the company that developing MyChat. You can simply check it by asking our lead developer on support page — https://nsoft-s.com/en/support.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by Astronomich (talk • contribs) 09:08, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

@Astronomich: Sorry, it only works around the other way. The uploader has to provide proof. In this case, please have someone of the management with the proper authorization send permission to OTRS. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 00:01, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi! About the deleted files File:Osmonegrosscreenshot.png and File:Osmonegros.jpg, I have the permission from the author to publish them and let them freely available for anyone. How should I provide proof of this? --Juanpabl (talk) 11:08, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

The copyright owner has to send permission. For the screenshot you need to have permission from the photographers as well. The two photographers and the website owner have to agree. Please see OTRS for more info on how to send permission. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 11:21, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi hedwig in Washingtonǃ You opened a deletion request for files licenced under CC Attribution 4.0 International. You erroneosly did this twice in one day. Stop doing this immediately and reevaluate your decisions. Please do not open deletion requests for things that you have no knowledge of. I hope you have a nice day otherwise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Psypherium (talk • contribs) 07:45, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Hold your horses. The statements in the file description aren't correct. You don't recognize the by part at all = invalid license. You need to fix the description and the link to the source, a generic github url isn't good enough. Please do not complain for things that you have no knowledge of. See legalcode and license deed. FYI --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 08:20, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

I am sorry for getting so upset, I collaborated with the programmer on making sure that wiki page was accurate, a lot of time was spent on details. I wasn't upset until I saw that you had done the same thing to multiple people in the same day. So the source description should have lead directly to viewizard.com instead of the project page? why didn't you just edit it instead of deleting the file? The main screen file was terribly tagged, I was going to fix that today but it no longer exists. The older ones were fine as far as I knew. It is not a generic github url, it is the official project page and it includes the full licence information. The LICENSE.md file is hosted at the github page, should I have linked directly to that file instead of just to the github? Please do not paraphrase me using fractured English. I was referring to your knowledge of the topic and not the license, I have full knowledge of the scope of the licence, what I do not know is exactly how that corresponds to how we should treat the file descriptions. My assumption was that someone would correct any mistakes and explain what to do. I understand that you are trying to help and you are doing a great job helping wikipedia, but there are some cases where just throwing a bunch of links at someone isn't going to help much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Psypherium (talk • contribs) 16:35, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

I don't do anything to people. I am a sysop here, we delete approx. 1,500 files every single day. There is not enough time in a day to explain to everybody what's what. Most uploaders with copyvios don't care anyway. I can't fix everything, sorry. OK, let's go through the descriptions:
  • 1) AstroMenace Main Menu.png =={{int:filedesc}}== {{Information |description={{en|1=The main menu of AstroMenace}} |date=2018-12-29 |source={{own}} |author=[[User:Psypherium|Psypherium]] |permission= |other versions= }} No URL to the image, no explanation why it's CC
  • 2) Ship-Configuration-Screen.jpg =={{int:filedesc}}== {{Information |description={{en|1=Ship configuration screen}} |date=2018-06-12 19:21:17 |source=Self-Made Screenshot |author=Viewizard - https://github.com/viewizard/astromenace |permission= |other versions= }} =={{int:license-header}}== {{cc-by-sa-4.0}} Just a generic URL, not pointing to the source.
  • 3) AstroMenace-Gameplay.jpg=={{int:filedesc}}== {{Information |description={{en|1=Gameplay screenshot}} |date=2018-06-12 19:00:26 |source=Self-Made Screenshot |author=Viewizard - https://github.com/viewizard/astromenace |permission= |other versions= }} This is the better one, self-made screenshot is OK. Again, just a generic URL. Author can't be viewizard. :-)
@Psypherium: I looked at the viewizard, the screenshots there have a watermark (bottom right) (c) 2007-2018 Viewizard, that's going to be a problem. Other people will pick up on that and the problem returns. Here's what I think is the best way to do it: Make your own screenshots and add this template: {{LicenseReview |site=https://github.com/viewizard/astromenace |user= |date= }} Leave user and date alone. Then leave me a note here, I'll head over and do the license review, categories, and whatever needs help. The only thing that could kill it then is that someone could say that the game is not in project scope. That's something you have to decide, but a game that is in the works for over 10 years should be fine in my opinion. No clue why I got so ticked off. Acute administratoritis? Sorry about that. Cheers! C(_) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 20:00, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

The copyright watermark is not merely in the images, the watermark is actually in the game itself. I will add a link to the cc licence on the viewizard.com website. 0 A.D. has a "Website content released under CC-BY-SA" notice on their official page, I will try to get that same thing for viewizard.com. 0 A.D. are my preferred standard for how to run a open-source game project, they always have the right ideas. The only reason i hadn't put widescreen screenshots on viewizard.com yet is that we were waiting for the final release of this current version, since it has recently been released, I will get in touch with him about adding new screenshots and a link to the cc info, and I will then just use the same screenshots in both places, it should be easier that way. I'll get back in touch with you once that is done. Psypherium (talk) 08:10, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Sounds good! Waiting to hear back from you! Happy New Year! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 08:13, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Sorry again, I have holiday season tireditis ː(. I was upset mostly because I had already deleted the screenshots and I'll have to make them again, but it's okay, I can make some better ones. Happy New Year to you tooǃ Over here is the third earliest New Years, GMT plus 10, it is only 5 hours away ː). Psypherium (talk) 08:34, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

It is essential for those trying to enforce following our polcies and guidelines to strictly follow our procedure themselves

It is vital for those trying to enforce following our polcies and guidelines to strictly follow our procedure themselves

We have a procedure for concerned contributors to tag images for speedy deletion.

And we have procedures for other contributors who think that speedy deletion is questionable to challenge that concern. They challenge the concern that triggered the speedy deletion by changing the speedy deletion to a regular deletion discussion.

World's Lamest Critic was a horrible wikistalker, on en.wiki. After WLC earned an indefinite block on en.wiki they started wikihounding the people who made their enemies list here on the commons. They pack a great deal of malice into their wikihounding.

In this particular case that included angry admonishments, to me, for removing their speedy. Of course, as I am sure you are aware, clicking on the button that converts a speedy to a regular discussion automatically removes the speedy tag when it adds the new tag showing the image is the subject of a regular discussion.

So, did WLC further disrupt our procedures by removing the tag pointing to Commons:Deletion requests/File:USMC Sergeant Remedios Cruz, on an endurance hike.jpg?

Or did you choose to act on the superceded speedy nomination, ignoring Commons:Deletion requests/File:USMC Sergeant Remedios Cruz, on an endurance hike.jpg?

In either case I request you restore the image, and allow Commons:Deletion requests/File:USMC Sergeant Remedios Cruz, on an endurance hike.jpg to run to completion. Geo Swan (talk) 11:40, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Frankly, I didn't read the complete story. The tag made sense to me, even tho you where the uploader. I thought you made a bubu ;-). Anyway, reasonable request, I'll restore the image. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 07:53, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

You just deleted the site as i wrote down there. The uploader is working for the city for public relations and press contacts. He tooks the photo itself and gave it to several journalists to use it in their publication, so no copyvio. See de:Wikipedia:Urheberrechtsfragen#Datei:Manuel_Just.JPG. SO, can you undelete it? Logo Semantic Web.png

Hi,

The file cannot be placed under cc-by-3.0 license. Its source page states: "Why did you use the W3C Document License rather than a Creative Commons license? […] The W3C Document License is very similar to "by-nd", and adding a constraint on not-for-profit use is similar to "by-nc-nd"." "cc-by-nd" cannot be allowed on Commons, right?

Previous discussions on the SVG version:

I already imported the SVG version in the French Wikipedia, and changed the 4 models using it. So the impact to delete the file will be minimal. Thomas Linard (talk) 22:12, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

I created a regular deletion request, IMHO the logo is too simple to copyright. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 22:14, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
Well, the two previous discussion concluded than the logo surpasses threshold of originality. But OK for a regular deletion request. Thomas Linard (talk) 22:17, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Structured Data - file captions coming this week (January 2019)

My apologies if this is a duplicate message for you, it is being sent to multiple lists which you may be signed up for.

Hi all, following up on last month's announcement...

Multilingual file captions will be released this week, on either Wednesday, 9 January or Thursday, 10 January 2019. Captions are a feature to add short, translatable descriptions to files. Here's some links you might want to look follow before the release, if you haven't already:

  1. Read over the help page for using captions - I wrote the page on mediawiki.org because captions are available for any MediaWiki user, feel free to host/modify a copy of the page here on Commons.
  2. Test out using captions on Beta Commons.
  3. Leave feedback about the test on the captions test talk page, if you have anything you'd like to say prior to release.

Additionally, there will be an IRC office hour on Thursday, 10 January with the Structured Data team to talk about file captions, as well as anything else the community may be interested in. Date/time conversion, as well as a link to join, are on Meta.

Thanks for your time, I look forward to seeing those who can make it to the IRC office hour on Thursday. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 21:09, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Regarding Deletion of Rockmanch 02.jpg

Hello,

Recently, the photo that I used, titled 'Rockmanch 02.jpg' was deleted. I understand there were copyright concerns since it also appears on the artist's official website. For the artist image, would uploading an image of the artist performing live taken through my phone, meet all the conditions to be approved for use on the page?

Thank you for taking the time to review my topic.

Best, WritersNepal

@WritersNepal: Hello! Do I understand you correctly that you personally took the photograph and the artist uses your work on his Facebook page? If this is the case, you need to do the following:
  • Goto OTRS
  • Click on Interactive Release Generator and follow the steps.
  • Wait for OTRS to process your request. You can ask on the Com:OTRS/Noticeboard what the status is, just remember to give them the ticket number.
That should do it, it might take a while, tho.
If you didn't take the photograph yourself, have the photographer follow those steps above. C(_) Best, --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 15:43, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Would you please restore the images that I uploaded

@Hedwig in Washington: , I appreciate that you are trying to police these pages, but it would help if you would correspond with people BEFORE taking destructive actions against their work. I uploaded photographs that I took of crystal structure models and incorporated them into a couple of pages because they provide a useful and clear illustration of crystal structure. Note the word there - *I* took the photos, and a long time ago I made them freely available to anyone who wanted to use them for non-profit purposes. You have decided that, because they can be found across the internet already, that I cannot own the copyright - one simple message to me and you would have been able to confirm my identity and my right to use the images. It takes time to upload images, to incorporate text to describe them and to place them appropriately in a wikipedia entry. Evidently, it takes you a few seconds to destroy all that work, when the entire mess could have been avoided by you checking before acting.

When image files are uploaded, the uploader checks a box that confirms that they are the owner of the work and that they have the right to upload them. Having done that, you appear to be able to blithely delete all that good work without any oversight or policing. I would be grateful if you would restore the files of mine that you have deleted. Thank you. Thesnark (talk) 21:48, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

The licenses don't match and Commons doesn't accept non-commercial or education only restriction. Clearly not a free license at the website as required, no backlink to the source. See com:L for our licensing requirements. So, don't tell me I didn't do my due diligence.
See OTRS on how to send permission, or (faster) add the pictures in question to your website with a proper license clearly visible and let me know when your done and I'll check if Commons can accept the images. Restoring images takes a minute or so, nothing is gone forever on Commons. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 23:17, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

@Hedwig in Washington: Apologies, but all I have to go on is the reason that you gave in your original deletion, which stated that you did not believe I held the copyright as the images were available elsewhere on the web, which is not the reason that you just gave. The Vaterite.jpg image that you list was explicitly released, as you acknowledge, under CCA4, so having provided that release, I'd say it is irrelevant what is written elsewhere about its use - if someone downloads and uses the file from Wikipedia, or an equivalent source, they can point to that release as a legal right. I have reinstated the Kaolinite file under an explicitly CCA4 release. I'll get round to doing the same for other files when I get the time. As I said previously, it would be much easier if a posting was sent to the contributor before deletion. The file Ruby_model.jpg, for example, was uploaded by me to Wikipedia over 11 years ago, so there was obviously no urgent need to delete it.
I have no idea what your wikipedia interface looks like, but I suspect it is perfectly set up for easy upload, deletion, amendment and restoration. You may not appreciate that, for us mortal users, the process is much clunkier and time-consuming. It has taken me over two hours to get to the point that I am at now in dealing with something that took you a few seconds to eradicate, and I still have to sort out two files. It would be much easier for users to be given, say, a 24 hour period to amend existing files and include an appropriate copyright release than it is for them to be forced into a restoration or re-uploading process. I hope that makes sense. Best wishes, Thesnark (talk) 00:35, 11 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Hedwig in Washington!

My comments and those of JopkeB were removed from this page. Can you return them to this page or should I try to do so? Thank you in advance for your kind consideration of this request! --Marshallsumter (talk) 11:03, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

@Marshallsumter: ✓ Done} Still, 99.999% chance that the file has to be deleted. I assume you haven't heard anything from the copyright owner? If you haven't yet, you probably won't ever. 8-( --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 11:18, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for reversion on File talk:Rockystatue.png. Apparently Escultor Mario Rendón y Lozano has responded but not to my email. We may need an OTRS volunteer to contact him. Still no response yet to whom the photographer is. Going to contact Joseph Rinaldi at Cornell. --Marshallsumter (talk) 20:16, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
Anytime. Hope we can keep a photograph of the statue soon. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 05:06, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
Take a read on the deletion page for the statue. I either found the photographer or one of his other photos will do. I've also sent a message to the sculptor in spanish, he's also on facebook, but no response as yet. Considering the photographer's use of the photos for the newspaper, the sculptor's permission may have been gotten. What do you think?
I also would like to ask, considering the activity this statue effort has caused here on commons if per Wikiversity:Deletions #14 "Serious ethical breach, where a resource standing undeleted may cause harm." would be the case here? The resource Boxing/Rocky Marciano describing Marciano's boxing style, where I intended to use the photo, was deleted for this reason. --Marshallsumter (talk) 02:12, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
@Marshallsumter: I don't think it would cause harm. We just need to have the OK of a) sculptor and b) photographer. That's about it. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 08:08, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
@Hedwig in Washington: As I read Marc Vasconcellos's response "You can use them with credit. Thank you" and his job as photographer with The Enterprise, he's the photographer of record for this photograph. Here's what I asked him on facebook: "Do you know the name of the photographer who took the photo of the Rocky Marciano statue in Brockton Massachusetts used by the winery? I'd like to use that photo or a similar one of yours for an article on Rocky. Are any of yours or the winery statue photos Public Domain, or would "fair use" be okay? Thank you in advance for your kind consideration of this request!" Also, this newspaper The Enterprise is the newspaper of legal record for Brockton, Massachusetts, where the statue is at. I believe this means permission from the sculptor was gotten for the photograph. I used MESSENGER on facebook to contact Marc. Do we need an OTRS volunteer to verify a) OK from the sculptor was gotten by Marc Vasconcellos and b) Marc is the photographer for the photograph? --Marshallsumter (talk) 12:31, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
@Marshallsumter: No need to ping on my talk page, automatic ping on change. Saves you a few keystrokes. Yes, we need OTRS verification for the photograph and the statue itself. Both have to come directly from the creator. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 12:37, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

Thanks again for your help! No word from Der Hexer, but the sculptors' and photographer's okays meet and exceed "fair use" requirements for Wikiversity. --Marshallsumter (talk) 21:08, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

Hello, is it possible to restore the page https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:George_Simion_02.jpg please? I have sent an OTRS release email (title of email: Release email (Grigorita/Pascariu)) just a few days ago, but the file was still deleted. Please reverse the deletion of https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bryanna_Elkins_at_Toronto_Fashion_Week.jpg. This file was uploaded by me in November, and has already been used in multiple Wikipedia pages. Now, you have deleted it because it is "all over the web." It is not. You will find it linked or cross-posted in a single thread on a fashion forum by me (posting under the username "torontoman"), weeks *after* I uploaded it here. Therefore, it is quite impossible that it is "all over the web" - it is my (I am a Toronto-based amateur fashion photographer) photo and I would welcome any link (use Reverse Image Search, if you'd like) to try and prove it's "all over the web," because it isn't. Kind regards,Pimentel94 (talk) 23:53, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

@Pimentel94:
The problem is, every time a photograph is published before it is uploaded to Commons, we require that permission is sent using OTRS. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 01:36, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

I know :@Hedwig in Washington: . What I'm trying to say is that it *wasn't* published before it was uploaded to Commons. That Google image search is the same reverse image search I myself did (I referenced it in my other "undelete request" message, the one on the Request Undelete page). If you notice, for example, the Fashion Spot forum thread... It was posted there on November 26. I uploaded it here on Commons on November 13. There is no, I repeat, NO, instance of this image on the Internet before November 13, 2018 (the day I uploaded it on Commons). All of those links on the Google Image Search, if you look at them, are posted afterwards - 90% of them are "clone" sites copying information from Wikipedia (specifically the Toronto Fashion Week page). If you check every link in the Reverse Image Search you've just provided, you'll see the first instance of this image on the Internet was me uploading it here, on November 13, 2018. That's why I'm requesting an undelete, because whatever automated algorithms you guys use made a mistake on this one - because it's elsewhere on the web, yes, but only elsewhere because I posted it here first. ;) Thanks Pimentel94 (talk) 02:16, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

@Pimentel94: https://www.bellazon.com/main/topic/65186-bryanna-elkins/ -> Nov 13th. No need to ping me on my talk page, it's automatic. :) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 02:25, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

(Thanks). And yes, that would be the fashion forum thread I referred to, posted by myself, under the username "torontoman." I posted that later on the same day, not before the 13th. And if you're going to now argue that you have no proof that I posted it several hours later, or no proof that "torontoman" is actually me, well, I don't mean to be an ass, but this is getting a little silly, no?

But just to prove it is me, if you go to the same thread now - https://www.bellazon.com/main/topic/65186-bryanna-elkins - you'll see that I just edited my latest post in that thread to include "Hedwig in Washington." Torontoman *is* me, and I posted it there after I uploaded it here. Does that suffice? Can we just admit a mistake was made, presumably some automated algorithm triggered by the fact I edited the photo's description today (from Edward Dodds to my "professional" pseudonym, Edward Pimentel), and reverse the deletion please? I've proven that it wasn't "all over the web" when it was uploaded here. Thanks Pimentel94 (talk) 03:40, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

@Pimentel94: ✓ Done Gotcha, that is good 'nuf for me. Thank you for being so persistent! Maybe remove the Hedwig text, cause that really i not me ;-) We have a lot of categories for mostly everything. There are currently 1000 files in the category Fashion alone. My gut tells me that a new contributor has uploaded a lot of copyrighted images. Four have already been deleted and I left this note prior to them throwing a fit on their talk page. I uploaded a copy of photo of Mary R Dawson a few months ago on behalf of Society of Vertebrate Paleontology: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Mary_R_Dawson_SVP.jpg&action=edit&redlink=1

It was marked for deletion because the original (http://vertpaleo.org/Awards/AwardSubPages/Award-(1).aspx) did not explicitly authorize redistribution. @Jc86035: ✓ Done F1 of course is nonsense. You guys move a lot of BSicons around. Holy cow, I processed a ton already. Is this the page you want? Or delete again? Best, --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 06:58, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
That looks like the right page. Thanks. Jc86035 (talk) 08:05, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Providing evidence of permission for deleted images

Hello. I'm AmericanLemming. I do a fair amount of editing on the English Wikipedia, but I have little experience with Wikimedia Commons. I recently uploaded five images related to ALS to add them to the English Wikipedia article. They were tagged as lacking "evidence for permission", and you deleted them recently. I asked about how to provide evidence of permission at Commons:Help desk#Providing evidence of permission for open-access journal articles, and based on the answer I received there I added a link to the open-acess journal where I got the images (http://dmm.biologists.org/content/10/5/537). However, I didn't remove the deletion tag, because I didn't feel comfortable doing that, since I'm the uploader.

Anyway, my two questions for you are (1) is providing a link to the journal article sufficient evidence of permission, and (2) if it is, is there a way to undelete the images, or should I upload them again? If nothing else, I'd like to better understand Wikimedia Commons' policies so I know which kinds of images I can upload and how to properly provide evidence of permission. AmericanLemming (talk) 00:59, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

@AmericanLemming: Restored the files and did some cleanup work. Please have a peek and please let me know if I can assist you with anything here. Best, --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 02:46, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your assistance. If I upload any more images from open-access journals to Commons in the future, I'll make sure to upload the full PDF of the article as well and indicate that the image was extracted from it. AmericanLemming (talk) 23:22, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
My pleasure. Don't hesitate to leave me a message should you run into a problem. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 00:50, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Admin Request Vote

Since I cannot edit on Commons:Administrators/Requests/Elisfkc anymore, I wanted to reach out and thank you for your support on my admin request. Even though it didn't end the way I wanted, I appreciate your support. --Elisfkc (talk) 02:27, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

File move went wrong

I moved File:The Cruick Cottage - geograph.org.uk - 1277133.jpg to match the spelling with the national heretage listing. But the usages where not replaced. See https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?target=The+Cruick+Cottage+-+geograph.org.uk+-+1277133.jpg&title=Special%3AGlobalUsage&limit=50 Where did I go wrong to get this result? Agathoclea (talk) 17:34, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

@Agathoclea: Don't move stuff by hand, use Commons Delinker or use {{Rename}} to the file. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 06:35, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Found the problem. Neither the script nor CommonsDelinker can find the file as it is used in templates. Agathoclea (talk) 08:14, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Deletion of File:Château de Montsoreau Val de Loire.jpg

Hello Hedwig, I released the copyright for this file some years ago on wikimedia commons and I also uploaded this image last week on another website. Did I do something wrong? What can I do to have the file restored? very best, Philippe49730--Philippe49730 (talk) 10:19, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

@Philippe49730: It seems that the photograph isn't yours, another user complained about the photograph being a copyright violation and a short search shows many other websites using it. Did you really create the photograph? Did you upload it anywhere else? --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 10:36, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
Yes indeed I created it, and I thought (maybe wrongly) that I was still free to use it after having uploaded it on wikimedia. --Philippe49730 (talk) 11:09, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
@Hedwig in Washington: Does it mean the file has to be nowhere but on wikimedia? Do you want me to delete it of every other websites?--Philippe49730 (talk) 12:02, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
@Philippe49730: No need to ping me on my talk page, it's automatic when you alter the page. Doesn't hurt anything, tho. No, you keep the copyright, and yes, you can upload anywhere AND here. We just have a lot of people grabbing stuff from the web and claiming own work. Commons requires that the photographer sends permission to us if the photograph has been published before. Sorry you fell through the cracks. Have a look at OTRS on how to send permission. Thanks! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?)
That's not at all the case here Hedwig. I uploaded that image on commons in 2017-18 and yesterday's claim was about an upload I did on a website in january 2019 (almost 2 years later). Eventually the file was deleted on commons. (I already went through the OTRS procedure for other files and it is a very heavy procedure with overbooked people and answers taking months to obtain. My questions were taking that OTRS procedure into consideration, it looks like a "Mission: Impossible" unless you are a professional.) I understand perfectly your position and responsibility, but looking carefully at the reasons why you deleted the file you should also admit that the deletion was abusive, or it means that commons requires an exclusivity on every files uploaded. I have already written twice that this image was created by me as every images I uploaded. I hope you will reconsider your choice. Best, --Philippe49730 (talk) 09:01, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

So sorry to hear!

From your user page: "Hedwig in Washington is not an administrator or an account creator. Therefore they have been disallowed the use of adminstats."

What happened!? Thanks btw for the maxUploads = 500 trick. I'm surprised nobody else has it in their common.js. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 13:05, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
