SVG Version of Supranational European Bodies[edit]

Wdcf, I saw your [Venn Diagram of Supranational European Bodies]. Its really well done. I was wondering if you'd be willing to post an SVG version. I'm not sure if you know much about SVG but its a vector based image format. It's big advantage is that a user can resize an image to any size without it being blocky and pixely.

I only have limited experience with image creation but I'd be happy to help you create an SVG version. What program do you use to create the file currently?

I second this, I'd love to make a French version for the enlightment of my fellow french-speaking wikipedia readers.--Herix (talk) 02:02, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't realise until recently I had a talk page on Wiki commons...check out the discussions around this on my Wikipedia talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Wdcf. Thanks, Wdcf (talk) 14:50, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Supranational European Bodies suggestions[edit]

Your Venn diagram is great! I see that you gradualy increase the number of organizations/features represented, so I would like to point you to this page: [1], where many of the Europe organizations are listed in a members-table. IMHO the next to add could be OSCE (including its North American and Central Asian members; OSCE = CoE + Belarus, Vatican, Kazakhstan + US, Canada + Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgystan). The rest are ESA, NATO, OECD (more non-european countries should be added), WTO (too many non-european countries - I don't find it very practical to enlarge so much the Venn diagram)... I don't know how many different "circles" it would be practical to do... Alnor (talk) 18:51, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Malaysia Tree Diagram.png[edit]

Hey, nice job on File:Malaysia Tree Diagram.png! However, there's a typo error in the diagram: the "Straights Settlements" should be the "Straits Settlements". Hope you can correct it. Cheers, Joshua (talk) 13:31, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorting it out now... Wdcf (talk) 14:52, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, Wdcf. You seem to be the main developer of the image linked above. Since you haven't commented in the image's talk page so far, I'm messaging you in your talk page instead. I have two remarks: First, the Monaco flag seems to be the only one that's affected by the color of the circle it's in. It seems that it is positioned under the red ellipse layer. Could you fix that? And second, this seems like a perfect candidate for an svg; The flags you used are (apparently) all svg Nuvola flags, so it wouldn't surprise me if this png is generated from an svg you have in your disk. Otherwise, it shouldn't be hard to create one, either. Let me know. Cheers, Waldir talk 06:57, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Woops, sorry, I didn't read the messages above. I see there's no svg version. This is an excellent file, though, and I believe there will be many benefits from having it in svg form. I'll see what I can do in that respect. Cheers, --Waldir talk 07:12, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I just noticed the Monaco problem myself - came to Wiki Commons to fix and noticed I have messages. The best place to leave messages is my Wikipedia talk page, I often forget I have a talk page on Wiki Commons and don't check it for month until I sign in to upload a file and it tells me I have new messages. I have just discovered there is much talking going on at the actual file's Talk page too. There are too many talk pages for my liking - nobdy at any of them checks the other so they are often discussing the same things. Wdcf (talk) 13:56, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You probably should place soft redirects on them to your Wikipedia talk page. Another thing that might be useful is activating the email notifications for messages to your talk pages (and watched pages too, if you want). Cheers, Waldir talk 16:00, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Wdcf!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

File:Monk bond.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
