Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Help renaming images?[edit]
{helpme} I want to rename the series starting with File:Courthouse for wikipedia 1.jpg (2, 3, 4) to more specific names, e.g. JamesCountyCourthouse1 (2,3,4), but I don't see how to do it. Instructions please (or even just a link to where the instructions are)? LadyofShalott (talk) 11:48, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Nevermind. I found the rename request template. (Can only Commons admins rename files?) Glad it wasn't a big rush. :/ LadyofShalott (talk) 13:10, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
Renaming[edit]
Images can be renamed by the administrators and the filemovers. mickit 15:45, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, ok - thanks, again! LadyofShalott (talk) 22:05, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
DR[edit]
First of all, thank you :) You did everything right. It takes some time before the administrator closes DR. In clear cases this might happen within a few hours, but more complicated cases can remain open for weeks or even months. So, don't worry about it :) mickit 06:36, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

File:Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery historical marker.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
