Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).

  • In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
  • In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)

We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:

  1. 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.

ich saß heute zusammen mit Herrn Auer im Büro und er hat mir das Foto von sich persönlich übergeben. Nur leider konnte ich ihm nicht erklären, dass eine OTRS-E-Mail nötig ist, weil er den Sinn davon nicht einsah. Wärst du bitte so nett, dass Bild ohne Löschantrag zu lassen, bis ich ihn ein paar Tagen noch einmal darauf anspreche?

Komische SLAs[edit]

Hallo Lutheraner, kannst du mir erklären, was diese SLAs sollen: [1], [2]? Wenn das doch offensichtlich PR-Fotos sind und von den abgebildeten Personen selbst hochgeladen wurden, frag ich doch erstmal den Uploader, ob er nicht zufällig tatsächlich der Rechteinhaber ist, was bei solchen Pressefotos durchaus üblich ist, statt einfach einen SLA zu stellen... Hallo Lutheraner, wenn du Dateien zur SL markieren willst, dann nutze bitte die Skript-Links aus dem Kasten "Werkzeuge" am linken Rand der Bild-Seiten, also "Urheberrechtsverletzung melden" oder "Keine Genehmigung". Wenn du nämlich nur auf der Dateiseite, wie z.B. bei File:Michael Neumaier.png, manuell ein speedy einfügst, wird der Hochlader nicht informiert und kann nicht reagieren. Dann muss das der die SLAs abarbeitende Admin nachholen, kann dann aber nicht unbedingt sofort löschen. --Túrelio (talk) 13:45, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removing picture[edit]

Lieber Lutheraner,

bitte stellen Sie das Bild von Beate Baum wieder online. Zwar habe ich selbst Copyright Thomas Bertrams eingetragen, weil er das Bild gemacht hat und ich ihm die Namensnennung gönnen würde, es ist jedoch rechtefrei und schon in unzähligen Zusammenhängen mit Beate Baum entsprechend genutzt worden.

Bild wohl URV[edit]

Hallo Lutheraner,

das Foto wurde mir von Dr. Roland Ottmann zur Veröffentlichung auf Wikipedia zur Verfügung gestellt. Welche Voraussetzungen muss das Foto aufweisen, dass es nicht wieder entfernt wird? Ich habe jetzt alternativ ein neues Passfoto zur Veröffentlichung bekommen. Wäre das okay?

Eine weitere Frage, die Änderungen die ich eingetragen habe wurden mit dem Hinweis auf (Keine Artikelverbesserung) zurückgesetzt.

Die Änderungen die ich vorgenommen habe beziehen sich auf den Familienstand, da es hier Veränderungen gab. Weitere Änderungen habe ich da vorgenommen wo Einträge nicht mehr aktuell sind, auch habe ich etliche fehlerhafte Links zu Webseiten die nicht mehr existieren entfernt.

Wie soll ich damit sinnvollerweise umgehen, damit diese Änderungen übernommen werden?

Anatomische Zeichnung - Wilhelm Viehmann 1928[edit]

Moin, ich bräuchte etwas Nachhilfe in Copyright. Ich war der Auffassung, dass die Schutzfrist 70 Jahre nach Erscheinen und 50 Jahre nach dem Tod des Künstlers ausläuft. Falls das nicht der Fall sein sollte, Zusatzfrage: Macht es einen Unterschied, wenn ich der rechtmäßige Erbe des Künstlers bin? Das ist ein frei verwendbares Promotionfoto der Person auf die sich der Artikel bezieht und bereits mehrfach im Netz veröffentlicht. Die Namensnennung bezieht sich lediglich auf den beauftragten Fotografen. Ich kann die Nennung allerdings auch rückgängig machen, wenn dies ein Problem darstellt. @SilWer23: Die Nennung rückgängig machen geht nicht mehr, da das Schnelllöschverfahren bereits läuft. Du kannst jetzt nur noch hier auf Commons Einspruch einlegen (siehe die Bildseite) und deine Position darlegen. Dann wird ein Admin entscheiden bzw. dir weitere Hinweise für das Vorgehen geben. Hallo und guten Abend, ich bin ein Mitarbeiter von Dr. Ines Zenke und kann bestätigen, dass hier keine Urheberrechtsverletzung vorliegt. Die Rechte an dem Bild liegen bei BBH (NICHT beim Fotografen, das ist vertraglich geklärt!) und ich bin BBH-Angestellter. Bitte das Bild nicht löschen und Diskussion beenden. Danke!

Moin Lutheraner, LA ist ja sicher nicht falsch - ich nehme meist die Vorlage npd ("no permission - date") per {{subst:npd}}, das ist ein aufgeschobener Schnellöschantrag, der nach 7 Tagen wirksam wird, falls keine Freigabe per OTRS erfolgt. (Und ist wesentlich freundlicher in der Handhabung als ein regulärer Commons-LA) - Nur für den Fall, daß du Vorlage npd noch nicht kennen solltest. Copyvio tagging[edit]

Thanks for helping out with copyright violations. Please do not tag images as copyvio solely because the author is different from the uploader's username. There are many possibilities such as:

  1. The uploader is in fact the author, but their username is different from their real name; or
  2. The uploader has secured permission from the author but forgot to add a {{Permission pending}} tag.

The correct thing to do in such cases is to tag the images with {{subst:npd}}. This reminds uploaders of the need for written confirmation of permission and allows for a grace period of a week for the author to send permission to COM:VRT. There are many examples of where your tags have led to the images being deleted incorrectly, e.g. File:Rachl Samuel 1991, c Alma Larsen.jpg or File:Gebäude Bielefeld - NTT DATA Business Solutions.jpg.

The {{Copyvio}} tag is only for obvious cases where it can be proven that the image is a copyright violation, such as when an image can be found on an external website 1) with no free license; 2) at an equal or higher resolution; and 3) with an earlier publication date than Commons (all three criteria must be met in order to tag as copyvio). -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 01:50, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, the original video is released as CC-BY-4.0 as it can be seen in the end, timestamp 37:53. Therefore a static image/screenshot of the video can be released with the same license, as marked on the image page. Please explain your concerns. Mømø (talk) 07:46, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Rießler: Wenn User:Kecia 1968 heute nicht mindestens 75 Jahre alt ist, glaube ich einfach nicht, dass dies "own work ist". Das ist nicht wahrscheinlich, wenn auch nicht ausgeschlossen.
