Expo 1873[edit]

Hello Three-quarter-ten, I've seen, that you have loaded a foto from the industrial hall (Industriehalle) from the Expo 1873. Perhaps it is possible to make a scan, which is a little more clear. It could have also a bigger volume, that's not a problem. I have it inserted in the category:Expo 1873 --K@rl (talk) 16:34, 27 February 2009 (UTC) (de:Benutzer:Karl Gruber)

Hello, Three-quarter-ten!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

@INeverCry: What is this even in reference to? My contributions history shows that I already use this site exactly as it is meant to be used. So why was this message posted here? Thanks, — ¾-10 16:43, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
This references the deletion of your userpage. This may have been a mistake - sometimes I get a false positive on spam checks due to page size (in this case a little under 5kb). Let me know if you'd like it restored. INeverCry (talk) 22:41, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
Yes please, I'd prefer to restore it. As far as I recall, it contained a paragraph explaining my motivation for contributing to the project. It probably doesn't matter much, but I'd prefer to keep it. Thank you. — ¾-10 23:36, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
I've restored it. My apologies for the mistake. Feel free to delete this warning. INeverCry (talk) 00:29, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
