I'm looking for a person willing to vectorize an image file with the Moravian coat of arms, which is used by many sites: Znak Moravy.jpg. The bitmap format is an obstacle to its wider use on the grounds that the SVG format is better (technically). The existing Moravia.svg file used by other articles as SVG is not suitable from the aesthetic point of view (the shape of the Moravian eagle's tail is not adapted to the shield). It is possible that more people would be willing and able to do it, but in the end at least one willing person could answer the call and do the vectorization.--Pavel Fric (talk) 18:18, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@痛: See National symbols of the Czech Republic. 1) The linked picture above represents the combination of the Moravian eagle as depicted in the file (picture) with the state (Czech republic) coat of arms. It is copied from it (cut and pasted into an inappropriate shield shape without being adapted). 2) This is based on the annex to the Law on State Symbols, where the coat of arms is described as "Quarterly, first and fourth gules a lion rampant double-queued argent crowned, armed and langued or (for Bohemia), second quarter azure an eagle displayed chequy gules and argent crowned, armed and langued or (for Moravia), third quarter or, an eagle displayed sable crowned of the first, armed and langued gules, on its breast a crescent trefoiled and a crosslet argent (for Silesia)." It is noticeable that in the appendix (picture) to the law the shape of the tail is adapted to the shape of the 2. field (approximately rectangle) in the shield (French shield), whereas in the picture on the linked page the tail of the eagle is not adapted to the shape of the shield (gothic shield). In the English translation, the "red" colour of the dice is listed before the silver, but in the original of the law (Czech language) the silver comes first in the description, followed by the red: the check (chessboard) is silver-red, in this order. Never mind that the appendix to the law shows the check(ering) red-silver. Finally, this can also be seen in other depictions of the Moravian eagle's form or its descriptions (however, the oldest colour depiction from the 13th century is silver-red). But the point is to have depictions that match the text of the law, because images further shape people's ideas of what something should look like.--Pavel Fric (talk) 12:27, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I encourage them too. It will be very useful. At the end of November 2022, the user Tschechische Länder took the image (file Znak Moravy.jpg), ran it through an graphic editor, enlarged it several times, renamed it to Coat of arms of Moravia.png, and replaced the original file in the Czech version of the article (Moravská orlice; English version: Coat of arms of Moravia) with the file with a strangely blurred top edge of the shield, saved in PNG format. Please make a new SVG file for the insignia of the Ukrainian 101st Brigade for the Protection of the General Staff based on the design of the sleeve insignia and the modern cap badge.
The present file leaves much to be desired and is not representative of what the insignia actually looks like, in contrast to most of our comparable files for other brigades. Images of the present-day sleeve insignia in use can be seen here in full colour and low-visibility variants. (Close-up of the patch here; of the real cap-badge here.) @痛: Hi, that looks great! I think a flag from 2014 shouldn't override what we see in the sleeve patches themselves, especially as Ukrainian military heraldry has been revolutionized over the course of the Russo-Ukrainian War. What I was hoping to see was a more simplistic design which would be basically two-dimensional like the sleeve patch shield. Something like File:81 ОАеМБр к.svg or File:1 ОТБр.svg by Inkscape'r. The helmet looks much better now, but I'd like to see a simple shield with flatter rendering of the poleaxes and gauntlet which you have done a great job in vectorizing. Flag of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army
A North Korean documentary film (at 30:18) showed the design for the flag of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army. It would be nice if this could be vectorized considering how the same film (at 29:58) shows a list that states under the 13 July 1993 entry that the KPA General Staff flag symbolizes the Korean People's Army. --Migs005 (talk) 03:24, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For #2 at that time the company was anglo-iranian. So, I take elements and colors from and . Orange color is the one for lion on flag for Safavid and Pahlavi dynasties (green and orange colors was taken from the Safavid flag, the lion design was also adapted from this same flag). If you look at the logo , given for (1968-1984), the color is orange... Moreover, your proposed color, #e1ed03, is a
greenish yellow
not really appropriate. To be continued...
#4: This flag seems not to exist. The only pictures I found are only the given logo (i.e. this logo on a white background).
#5: I don't know if this flag exists or not. I've only found this logo on a same green background (often a square design), but no real flag.
If not existing, deletion will be requested for these two last flags. Please, provide a source.
@En rouge: I chose this non-standard color because it is present in all images (I think it's because the green underneath shows through) also the dressing of the lion seems to be cohesive [2][3], This [4] is a link to the official PDF describing the history of the flag, it was one of my sources when I wrote the note, but I haven't opened it in a long time and since Sunday my internet is slower and the PDF won't load. There is #2 but clearly longer than in the photo of the physical flag and I think it's a graphic mistake. If you see any other differences in the PDF compared to what I've provided before, then suggest PDF, it's possible that I rushed the approvals #1. You wrote that your non-standard color is present in all images, but you only link to one image (image zoomed from another, the latter full flag image more appropriate as much in context):
From you link [5] (and [6] which is part of it), you can see that zoomed lion is not the same color as in the entire flag picture. In the full image, the lion is more orang-ish (and even in the zoomed image the green is out of reality, regarding full scope image).

Could someone please create an SVG file of the flag attributed to Saint Augustine of Canterbury, as seen here (preferably in the 3:5 ratio). As the article says, it's based on the Saint's medieval coat of arms, as seen here and here, albeit without the flower in the upper-right quarter. Template:Railway line legend recommends using BSicon FUNI for both w:funiculars (the ones with a " funiculus" or cable as appearing on the left side of the icon) and simple w:rack railways (which are sometimes confused with funiculars, but don't use a cable).
For clarity, it could be helpful to have a separate icon "RACK" for the later, similar to the above, but without the cable. I'd like to request an illustration of this proposed Russian flag from an "A. Bryanchaninov" and, if possible, the emblem itself since I don't know how to properly extract part of an SVG and make it a centered emblem (if that makes sense). I hope the reference images are fine because there's barely any documentation of this flag, as I can't find any information on any physical copies.

Hello. I am the original uploader of this image. I once had the original magazine, but it was in a binder. Hence, the reason the page is curled downward, along the right edge. I don't want major alterations to be made, that would necessitate the creating of a new file name. I was just hoping this one could look more presentable. (I only have basic GIMP knowledge.) For instance, perhaps correcting the darkened shades along bottom and edge of right side. I don't know if anything could be done to give the page better focus, darken the image a tiny spec, or straighten out a couple or so slanted words. Martin drew three illustrations for the "Monitor Top" refrigerator. This is one of them. In closing: I'd appreciate just some touch-ups to improve the overall quality, without having to create a new file name. Flags of Peterborough Cathedral and Southwark Cathedral
Comment@Snow Lion Fenian: I think these are not the flags of the cathedral as such, but banners of arms of the bishops themselves. Presumably, they fly to indicate the prelate is there. The cathedral (or its corporation or chapter or whatever) ought to fly the diocesan flag intended for all churches in that bishop's territory: the English cross with the episcopal arms inescutcheoned in the canton. Since copies of the diocesan flags exist already, it might be better to request a full complement of episcopal banners of arms, rather than focusing on individual cathedral churches. @GPinkerton: Well, from what I've gathered, the cross-impaling-the-dragon's-head is indeed part of the arms attributed to Saint Margaret of Antioch (if you go on this page here, and scroll down to the "Arms Associated With Saints" section, and then on to the part about "St Margaret of Antioch", you'll see what I mean), but not the crowned portcullis. Which leads me to believe that it was indeed Graham Bartram who designed the modern flag of the COSM, and that it was his decision to add the crowned portcullis onto what is otherwise (as you said) a banner of arms. Request for a map showing the Dublin quays and corresponding quay names
Hi all, happy 2023. I'm looking for someone's assistance in making a map/illustration of the quays of Dublin city, Ireland to show the location of each quay along the river Liffey. At present the article Dublin quays doesn't really give any pictorial explanation of which quay is where, even though this would be the best way to present the information. There are 25 separate "quays" (see list below taken from the page en:Dublin quays). N.B. two of the quays do not have the 'quay' designation at the end of their name ( "Bachelors Walk" and "Usher's Island") but they are quays.
The name designations of the north roadway are (from west to east): Wolfe Tone Quay, Sarsfield Quay, Ellis Quay, Arran Quay, Inns Quay, Upper Ormond Quay, Lower Ormond Quay, Bachelors Walk, Eden Quay, Custom House Quay and North Wall Quay.
The name designations of the south roadway are (from west to east): Victoria Quay, Usher's Island, Usher's Quay, Merchant's Quay, Wood Quay, Essex Quay, Wellington Quay, Crampton Quay, Aston Quay, Burgh Quay, George's Quay, City Quay, Sir John Rogerson's Quay and Britain Quay.
Could an SVG expert add 2ft 3in (686mm) to this file, with a colour somewhere between the colours used for 600mm and 762mm please? I want to expand the lead for the list of 2 ft 3 in railways on En-wiki, and a comparison of other gauges would be helpful. Understandable by itself, but please note that en:Track gauge#List of defined track gauges has 252 defined gauges! To have this gauge added (to a graph of ~10) would require, IMO, that the gauge is highly relevant. For example, by great number of articles (railways applicating), or by its history. I don't know how "British" gauges are defined, but in the full list, "narrow" has 92 rows (< standard gauge), and if we cut out metric-defined gauges, still dozens remain. Unfortunately we have no overview of the usage-numbers anymore (article count for given gauge 'x.y inches'). Also, I doubt the tough usefullness of the drawing involved, compared to the hard numeric gauge e.g., in a list (in which you can choopse your own entries, British and/or other). Also, some gauges may be merged as being "practicaly the same, by half inches" (enwiki task todo). Maybe this drawing is a nice illustration at best, for this (but ideally in a narrow/standard/broad describing article, if you see what I mean). I'm not sure if you've understood the reason for my request. I'm not asking for another arbitary gauge to be added to the file for no reason - I want a comparison between 2' 3" and other gauges specifically for the specific article I stated above. On reflection I think a new file would be better, and I've suggested the most common gauges, greater that miniature railways, used in the UK (which is where all 2' 3" railways are based AFAIK). I would like to be able to translate the labels in these SVG files into Inari Sámi so we can use them on the Inari Sámi wp, but this is not possible because the text is baked into the files. In addition, the text will be translated into two other Sámi languages for use on Wikimedia projects. On a more global basis, this would also be useful for other contributors who would like to use these in their own language on their own Wikipedia. I would like only the Guatemalan volcano symbols and labels in the first image to be added to the Inari Sámi map of Guatemala in the second image and saved as a new file so we can use it in an article on the Inari Sámi wikipedia. The volcano labels are missing the diacritics in the gif and the following labels would need to be fixed: Santa María, Atitlán, and Tolimán.
