Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Dear Hoary, yet indeed these are artworks by the deceased artist Marco Carnà. But the pictures are original, and never published online.
For what concerns the picture by Uliano Lucas, on the other hand, I had the personal approval of the photographer to publish it.
These are pictures that enrich not only Marco Carna's page, but also Wiki Commons. Bianchibeatrice (talk) 08:33, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Hoary,
I can manage to send you a written declaration of the wife of the deceased artist, Marco Carnà, author of the works that were depicted in my pictures, that states her agreement upon my publication of the pictures. In the latter case, would the pictures be restored on the website?

On 2 July, I posted the beige colored template above. It invited you to see, and to participate in, what it called "their entry": Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Bianchibeatrice. I don't know whether you went to that page; but if you did, you didn't say anything there. If you had written there what you have addressed to me here, this would not have preserved the files; however, somebody reading what you had written would probably have told you what to do. (The copyright holder would have had to write to Wikimedia Commons: see Commons:Volunteer_Response_Team/it for details. NB the copyright holder mustn't merely permit reproduction within Wikipedia; she must instead explicitly copyleft every file with a very permissive license, thereby allowing other websites (including commercial websites) to reproduce it. This is all rather complicated; but it needs to be complicated. If you'd like to make a second attempt to upload the files, please read up on this process before uploading anything. Good luck! -- Hoary (talk) 09:31, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Hoary, thank you for the clarification. I am a new user on Wikipedia and navigating across all its rules, contents, and hierarchies is extremely complex. Unfortunately I did not have the chance to see the discussion page above, this is why I did not respond. Nonetheless, I've seen the template that the copyright owner must fill in, with a specific free license that she'll need to declare, and subsequently send to this address: permissions-commons@wikimedia.org
I hope I've correctly understood the procedure and that I will be able to see my works restored online. Bianchibeatrice (talk) 14:09, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know, it can be overwhelming. This is unfortunate but probably unavoidable. The (possibly) good news is that the "deleted" files aren't actually deleted. They're still available to administrators, even though they are invisible to regular users of Commons such as you and me. So if evidence of suitable copyright status can be provided, an administrator can "undelete" them. I notice that you haven't made any fresh attempt to upload a file. That's good. Concentrate on what has already been uploaded and "deleted". (Of course, if some of the "deleted" files are likely to remain problematic, then don't persevere with these.) -- Hoary (talk) 22:08, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect, thank you so much! Bianchibeatrice (talk) 13:23, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
