Well, even if I do 200 a day, (then I would do nothing else) I don't think we will get the list down by ourselves. :(
Do you notice other people helping correct mistakes? We can invite them to help us as well. They especially don't have to be admins - they just have to know what they're doing. :) I'll make a post on the mailing list. I think no one really reads the village pump anyway, sigh... pfctdayelise (translate?) 16:24, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

п.? --Butko09:37, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
--Butko08:45, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
--EugeneZelenko15:56, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree completely. He is already doing a lot of useful work with tagging images and talking to new users which is great. He has no Commons: namespace edits though (no Village pump). But I think it's not so important. I will wait a little bit and then I will ask him. My nomination of NeilsF is still on COM:A and I think he will have a better chance if I only have one nomination at a time ;) --pfctdayelise (translate?) 15:45, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I had asked for Intelliworks permission to use their image in the article I am writing on them. They have granted permission to use their logo under GPL. What should I do now? Upload the content again?

Thank you for voting in my RfA. I do agree to your comments and it was mainly becuse I don't trust my english writing skills that I did apply now, I didn't wannt to do a lot of machine-like editing just to get a bunch of editcount. What I'm good at and willing to do is to revive diffrent forms of delitions (even if I belive my writing in english is en-2 do I belive my understandning is en-4). But I realise that I scholud have showed that I actualy also is able to write and be good att that sort of metawork to, becuse in the things I like to do much communication is also need to be done. I would intend to show this if I don't onlyckly is going away for the next 5 days. But thank you for your reply and what I have learnt from it. /Grön06:29, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, recently Image:Ukrainian Stamp Fifa World Cup.jpg has been uploaded ([1]). The image claims to be PD-stamp according to Ukranian law. This seems to me like a reupload of Ukrainian_Stamp_Fifa_Wold_Cup.jpg, deleted by User:Thuresson due to FIFA 2006 world cup logo. I advised him and he sent me to you as you probably know better than us if this stamp can stay on commons or not. (is the stamp PD? can Ukrainia give to public domain a derivateve work of a logo?)
it's called "Bad Old Ones". See e.g. [2]. I created a template, {{Delete assist}} which should be put on subcats of 'Unknown'. I just put it on the month-level ones, if you want to put it on day-level ones you're welcome to. It will just automatically create the link to Bad Old Ones for that category.
It's good if you want to delete "easy" cases that aren't being used anywhere. :) There's also a 'safe delete' option which creates a backup copy on the toolserver. However Brion is working on undeletion of images at the moment and it might be fixed permanently very soon!
Hi, recently you tagged "missing essential source information" this photo I uploaded 5 days ago... How do I fix that ? What do I have to add to the description so that there is enough information ? Hi and thank you for letting me know about the missing license info on the above mentioned image. I tried to add the license info today, but somehow could not find a posibility to change the license info of an already uploaded impage in Commons.
Concerning the picture itself, I have taken it out of an official press kit (being allowed to be distributed freely) from the organisers of this survey. The image refers to an online poll called Perspektive Deutschland in German Wikipedia. Could you let me know, how I actually amend the license info for the picture? Sorry, for such basic nagging stuff,... Schiehallion09:02, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks.
I saw this tagged as NLD, however I didn't entirely understand your rationale for labeling it such, as the uploader did give a licence (I'll admit that I'm more accustomed to the licenesing system of WikipediA the Commons, so I might have missed something). 68.39.174.23822:20, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's more likely that this images come form website (== copyvio). If uploader claimed to be author, he/she could upload better resolution. If better resolution will not be provided, this image will be deleted. --EugeneZelenko02:58, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I’m confused about this licenses thing. Pubic domain is not a part of GNU free documentation licenses? Hey! I've got tremendous problems categorizing my work since I don't understand, how the categorizing-tool works. I uploades that image recently to the terraforming-article in the German wiki. Then I wanted to make the image accessable to other users in the wikimedia commons. I still can't find it here searching by the keyword "Terraforming", but I replaced the image I already had in the german wiki by this one… Can you help me categorizing it?
Thanks a lot, Rokkon
I'm gonna upload from this site several pictures about proteins, like this one or something like that. But previously, I need to be certain that I'm able to do it. That site is by a group of American public laboratories (see here) working with public funds (the list of all the US National Agencies is on the bottom of the homepage)... I think that all their works are released in PD, but I'm not sure, because it's not written clearly. Can you help me? Thanks! --Giac! - (Tiago is here)15:26, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm new around here. and just trying to get the hang of it. I'm a grandmother. I don't think you've got too many of those around. I'm afraid I'm rather slow at catching on but I'm getting there with a bit of help. Whenever I go looking for the art objects I want on Wikimedia commons, I find all these things that are filed under weird names, or seem to be all out on their lonesome or have some anomally like
Art of Austria
Art of Belgium
Art of Canada
Danish Art
Art of Egypt
So I never know what to do with anything. Or exactly how to do it.
And categories that I expect to exist under a particular heading, don't! I spose people just make up the categories as they go along. It doesn't suit my relatively tidy mind.
So with the Four Martyrs of Westminster Abbey, I simply visited the various sites that I thought might want my pic, Martin Luther King Jnr, Bishop Romero and so on, and dropped the pic into the right place. So it's alreday been used four times.
Now I'm going to have to find things to do with my Chartres Cathedral sculpture and Windows, windows from Canterbury Cathedral, and the odd pulpit or three from Belgium. The pulpits ought to stay together as a group, but they ought also be at the churches that the belong to. Do your categories allow for something to appear at various places?
Hello, can you specifiy what is unclear about the copyright status of this image? It says right below the licensing tag where it is taken from and that the copyright holder (in other words, the person responsible for the site) did not mind it being used under the circumstances we require it to be licensed under. What licensing information is missing? --Chlämens19:18, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You claim that the source is not being given, even though it is ([4]). On this website, the copyright info states that: "In general, and unless otherwise indicated, we allow you to reproduce, transmit and distribute parts of this content for non-profit purposes as long as you identify the source as www.celtia.info.", that is not enough for Commons, so I e-mailed them and asked if the map could be used under our acceptable licenses which includes as the third point "Commercial use of the work must be allowed". I assume the creator of the map read this and responded by writing back "yes, it's fine"; if you want to check this you can also e-mail them at info@celtia.info. What I should have done is specify that the source has to be given, and I fixed that now. --Chlämens09:31, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

as per Commons talk:Administrators, I am asking all admins to subscribe to commons-l, a mailing list for Wikimedia Commons policy and project discussion. Since many admins are only on Commons infrequently, this is a good way to alert people about important happenings. The mailing list is nominally multilingual, but predominantly English.
If you are already subscribed to commons-l, I apologize for bothering you, and you are free to ignore this message. If you don't want to use your regular e-mail account, feel free to leave me a message, and I can send you a GMail invite. Traffic on the mailing list is relatively low, and we do not expect admins to read all messages to the list, but it would be nice if you could check on it at least every few weeks. Thanks for your time,--Eloquence23:03, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--Yakudza21:40, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am definite that on the moment of uploading the file (actually i had to upload it several times, because of minor corrections), I stated that it is "own work", provided under "GFDL content created by the uploader" and I chose this same license from the drop-down menu. The file was created by me for the needs of the article on Coordinates in the Bulgarian wikipedia here, as were several other images: Spherical-coordinates.png, Spherical-coordinates-1.png. I believe that with the correction just made and the present explanations, the image will not be removed from the commons database.

Care to explain this action. Did you try to talk to the user if you think he was mistaken? Or, did you just assume bad faith and enjoyed being able to block the user? Or was it something else? I am puzzled. --Irpen22:05, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't have time for details explanations, but I think block message was clear enough.
There is a difference between an action of a newbie of whom you should have assumed good faith and an action of an experienced admin who explains resorting to straight execution without even an attempt to talk by being "to busy". The "don't bite the newbies" policy is there for a reason. DDima's spree was indeed not a good idea for which he already apologized. We can be sure that his error won't be repeated but harsh block will remain now in his block log forever and nothing can be done to undo this damage. Your careless abuse of your privileges jutified by "being to busy to talk" is less excusable than DDima's honest mistake because expectation from the admin's behavior to exemplify the best standards are much higher. I will personally go over DDima's contribution and will check the images he erroneously retagged. And I hope you will be more careful in the future with using the tools the community entrusted for you to use wisely to its benefit. --Irpen21:25, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Blocking is a serious matter and should never be applied due to "lack of time" or other reasons of perceived self-importance. A warning or even a polite explanation would have achieved the same result. I would appreciate your unblocking a user, even if it is symbolical, and apologize to him for acting too harshly. On my end, I emailed him explaining the licensing policies. --Irpen18:08, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
At first, it's not matter of self-importance. I'll apologize for blocking, but I expect apologies from this user for creating unnecessary job for other. Thank you for you help with explaining Commons policies. --EugeneZelenko18:17, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the church in Image:Russia-Sergiev Posad-Church1-1.jpg might be the one shown at the bottom of this page. In English we would call it St. Elias Church.
Anyway, the changes I made are very simple to carry out using Gimp, a free graphics program. You might want to try it out, if you have a photo which is too dark or too bright. Balcer17:00, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I'm not good in computer graphics and art (I don't feel which adjustment will be good which will not), so I prefer if people with better knowledge in this area will do adjustments. Again, thank you for your help. --EugeneZelenko17:06, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My knowledge of computer graphics is very basic, but some things are really easy to do with Gimp and related programs. If I can do it, anybody can :). Don't be afraid to experiment. You can always upload improved versions of the image. So, as long as you keep the original, you can do no harm.
The coin pictures look great to me. Why do you want to remove the background? It is of course possible to do this, but I am not sure I can do it well enough so that the image quality does not suffer. Balcer17:42, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot. I added the translations into the article. My main goal is to get Hero of Belarus to an FA (again) and I just want to be sure that everything is right. You left a message on my Talk page alerting me that the image might be deleted because I had not stated the ownership. The summary on the Image page clearly shows that I stated that I drew the image myself and I also selected the GFDL license option. What more does it take? If I drew it myself then I certainly owned the copyright ... that should be obvious, should it not? If there is soem other wording you deem absolutely necessary, let me know ... but I must say that what I already said should be sufficient.

I think giving file upload bots a bot flag shouldn't be very difficult. As long as the bot is working properly and there are categories, I would appove them. If something goes wrong they can always be blocked later, IMO the bot flag is not a very big deal. Commons:Bots only says that bots have to be requested at COM:A - I definitely don't think they have to meet the same requirements as administrators!! cheers, pfctdayelise (说什么?) 01:06, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, earlier today you deleted this promotional photograph. In the image description there was a contact e-mail address for the record company. Could you please post that address so that I can attempt to secure a rights release for the promo material? Spasibo ˉanetode╦╩07:14, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
These old versions (1024px and 800px) have important mistake (wrong prepared panorama) and I would like to remove them, but I don't know how to do that.
I beg you next time do not delete pics, but ad conversation page for statening if it is or is not for deletion. And why didi you delete the marxist pic of Chernenko. It can stay, as well as Andropov. Beacus eit is CC, and it is not color and big like the las one. --Edgar Allan Poe17:34, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's official Soviet portrait (same as old color version) without any relation to marxists.org (except you take this image from there). So stop believe in Sci-fi and please follow Commons:Licensing. If you'll not follow Commons:Licensing, you'll be blocked. It's your choice. --EugeneZelenko17:41, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Godm is that an official portrait. NO. It is a copy, bw, hi res, and bigger and wider. It is from marxists and under CC. so it can stay. --Edgar Allan Poe17:46, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You were advised several times to not commit copyrights violations on Commons. Please start listen to other people, or you'll face consequences. --EugeneZelenko17:50, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The image "psicosis.jpg" is mine.I has altered some aspects, but the work is mine!! it is my work!!!Look at the photograms from the end, that photograms included me,they are not from image.
— Preceding unsigned comment added by Xmilkygrapes (talk • contribs) 08:29, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
