Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:35, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

File:Denis Healey.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

You correctly wrote "free to use for non-commerical use no derivative works" on the file description. However, that reuse conditions is not that you also added to the file description. Cc-by-2.0 is fre to use for money making purposes and modification, worldwide by anyone. And thats what is required on Commons, see Commons:Project scope#Must be freely licensed or public domain. Therfore your "for non-commercial use no derivative works" file must be deleted, it is unfree. Martin H. (talk) 15:33, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, I confused the license. Sorry, for the mistake. 000peter (talk) 23:13, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- No problem, we have a review process to double check this. --Martin H. (talk) 23:20, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- I've uploaded a non-free image of a currency to Wikipedia, and I think I've included the correct information and permission (it's allowed for some purposes) but, if or when you have time, could you quickly check it's correct before I upload more. Or can you flag it to be checked later on, if that's possible. I don't want to go around uploading images incorrectly and getting myself banned. Thanks. 000peter (talk) 23:36, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- See: en:File:1 krone coin.jpg 000peter (talk) 23:36, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- Looks ok for both copyright issues, the currency design (Commons:Currency#Denmark) and the photographic reproduction (similar to COM:ART#Photograph_of_an_old_coin_found_on_the_Internet), under fair use. --Martin H. (talk) 00:14, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Flickr uploads
Hi, when you upload images from Flickr to the Commons, please always add the template Flickrreview, so the image can be reviewed and is safe from deletion in case the Flickr license gets changed. The Flickr upload bot does that automatically. Regards Hekerui (talk) 09:47, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
Dioceses of Church of England map
After your request on Map Workshop I created this map [1] (created with a ShareMap - take a look and share opinions. When it will be finished I will upload it to Wiki Commons. --Jkan997 (talk) 22:40, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Wow. Thanks! The only thing that really jumps out at me is a couple of misspellings (that I can see): "Efy" should be Ely and "Lincol" should be "Lincoln". -- 000peter (talk) 16:17, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Fixed mispelling, here you can find version uploaded to Wiki Commons

Acc. to our sources, S Sudan is the only country with a traditional majority. Thus it should take that color on the map. Kwamikagami (talk) 19:15, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
