File:CZ traffic sign IS16a - D1 update.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Express and Motorways in Austria[edit]

Hi, Puclik1, you created the category Express ways in Austria, but the content is not true, because alle the Ax and Sx are both motorways and not Expressways. They have only a different numbering in one law. Expressways would be nearly teh Roads B "Frühere Bundesstraßen" - but real this class is with us not existing. --regards K@rl (talk) 10:25, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're wrong. Look at the Wikidata:Wikidata:WikiProject Roads/Austria or articles on wikipedia Wikipedia:Mühlviertler Schnellstraße. The article name in other languages also corresponds to the expressway, for example DE Schnellstraße, CZ Rychlostní silnice, PL Droga ekspresowa, SK Rýchlostná cesta. Puclik1 (talk) 05:23, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I explained you, that the names are only different through the law, but not from the holder and not from the function. Both ar driven bei de:ASFINAG and both have the same structures. For both is to pay. Only the name is different - but its really bad, if you don't know the reality, and knowledge is only from Wikipedia ;-) --K@rl (talk) 07:16, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
PS: I could not the explain the differences in the other countries in such, without knowledges of the the general situations there. --K@rl (talk) 07:17, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My knowledge does not really come only from wikipedia. But I wanted to show that it is the used and expected name on Wikipedia. Puclik1 (talk) 07:36, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, if you hav the knowledge from the reality: Where did you seen the differences, independant of the name? I never found there. --K@rl (talk) 08:09, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But an other question, where you can see the differences here in Wikicommons the differences between express ways and the motorways? - whichone has the higher importance? --K@rl (talk) 08:12, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Categorization means abstraction. Other WPs and WD are not the best of arguments. The difference as Karl said, is mainly by name, not by function / structure / law ([1]).

The law is talking about Bundesstraßen as the union of both Autobahn and Schnellstraße. Differences:

  • § 21. (1) different spare areas (min. 40 vs. 25 m) along the road
  • § 37 Autobahnen and Schnellstraßen are listed separately (for historical reasons)

That's all. Does not justify different categories, IMHO. If you drive in Austria, you will not experience any difference. --Herzi Pinki (talk) 08:14, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that there is no physical difference between "Bundesautobahnen" and "Schnellstraße" in Austria, but I think people will look for it expressway and motorways. If you want to change the category, do it, but in my opinion it is not good. Puclik1 (talk) 09:03, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's only good, if there is really a differance, but not here, with only a differance in the name. But I think, it should be reverted, from whome, which was changing uncoordinated. --K@rl (talk) 10:31, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

what about merging back the express ways to motorways and keeping express ways as redirect? This will satisfy all needs. The general commons problem behind is that once a concept is split on top level (e.g. expressways and motorways), the split tends to propagate down the category tree. Which is easy but not always the adequate solution. --Herzi Pinki (talk) 09:43, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Category Hauptstrassen numbers[edit]

Hello! I think you are mistaken – files in that category were uploaded by AleXXw so you should notify that user, not me. I only changed font in two files (Hauptstrasse 3 number.svg and Hauptstrasse 29 number.svg).

Please check file history next time to avoid mistakes like this.

Greetings! --Miko101 (talk) 18:15, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I 'm sorry. I first used the tool VisualFileChange.js Puclik1 (talk) 18:20, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2017 is open![edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2017 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in R2.

Dear Puclik1,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 11:33, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
