First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Delft categories

Hartelijk dank voor het toevoegen de categorieen van de Delftse buurten. Dat is geweldig dat iemand dit werk doet. Maar ik vroeg me af - is dat niet makkelijker die categoerien aan de straatcategorieen toevoegen? Meestal zit een straat toch in een buurt, of als die de grens maakt dan in twee buurten? Dankjewel voor je reactie. Ik ben niet zo bekend met de conventies over straten en buurten op wikicommons, dus ik corrigeer het graag als het beter is. Maar ik begrijp niet helemaal wat je bedoelt met de bovenstaande zin. Kun je een concreet voorbeeld noemen van waar je het niet mee eens bent? / Thanks for your comment on my Talk page. I'm not entirely familiar (yet) with the conventions on streets, districts and neighbourhoods on wiki commons. So I'm willing to correct where I made mistakes. However, I do not entirely understand what you mean with your sentence. Could you give me a concrete example? Or maybe write in English instead?

Ik ben ook vaak niet bekend met de conventies, misschien doe ik ook wat verkeerd. Ieder geval, een voorbeeld [1]: je heb een categorie (Category:Abtswoudse Hof (Delft)) toegevoegd tot het bestand. Dat is zeker niet verkeerd, want het bestand toont het complex gebouwd in Abtswoudse Hof (neem ik aan). Maar het bestand is lid van de categorie Category:Jan Schoutensingel, die ik zelf ooit had gecreeerd. Alles in de categorie, als dat goed is, zit in Abtswoudse Hof. Is dat dan niet beter de categoie Category:Abtswoudse Hof (Delft) ipv van losse bestanden tovoegen aan Category:Jan Schoutensingel? Dan zijn alle bestanden, ook de toekomstige, binnen. Ah.. je bedoelt dat het handig is om alle straten in de Abtswoudse Hof ook in de categorie Abtswoudse Hof te zetten? ja, dat lijkt me een goed idee. Ik weet overigens niet of de namen "Van Leeuwenhoekkwartier", "Coendersbuurt" en "Abtswoudse Hof" ook daadwerkelijk zullen beklijven als buurtnamen zodra het spoorzoneproject is afgerond. Vooral het Abtswoudse Hof is zo verweven met bedrijventerrein Voorhof en de Mythologiebuurt, door al die rare hoekjes en gaatjes, en het feit dat er op het bedrijventerrein ook ook andere bedrijfsgebouwen zijn neergehaald, dat ik vermoed dat die naam "Abtswoudse Hof" alleen bekend is bij de mensen die de bouwkundige plannen gemaakt hebben. Waar neem je ueberhaupt de buurtnames van? Ik denk niet dat ik zelf weet in welke buurt ik woon en werk - ik denk van Voorhof en TU wijk, maar zeker weet ik het niet. Is er ergens een kaart die de buurten toont? Ymblanter (talk) 15:30, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wijken en buurten kun je vinden via de website van de gemeente Delft of via de kaartlagen van de PDOK Viewer. De drie nieuwe buurten in de Spoorzone zijn onderdeel van het ontwikkelplan Nieuw Delft, en nog niet in de wijkindeling verwerkt. Ik vermoed dat ze dat pas doen zodra de bouwwerkzaamheden zijn afgerond. Sietske (talk) 15:54, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
