Geneva[edit]

Hi - regarding Image:GRX Alhambra gazelleR 8973.jpg: I have removed the tag. Regarding Image:UN building, Genevra.jpg: I will not rename it, for two reasons:

  1. generally, renaming is just as much work for me as it is for you. The image need to be re-uploaded under the correct name, and then all reference to it, in all projects, must be changed. As you can see here, the image is used quite a bit. So if you want an image renamed, please change all the links first and the put the old one up for deletion. But not for this image, beacause:
  2. specifically, "Genevra" is the correct Romansh name of the city Geneva; even an official name, because Romansh is one of four national languages of Switzerlad. Thus, the image's title is a bit strange, but not wrong.

Image:Loveparade big digital art.jpg[edit]

This image appears to be a copyright violation - I can find no evidence that the artists released it under a free license. When copying images from another wiki, please make sure the source & license info is complete and believable. -- Duesentrieb(?!) 10:30, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bringmann & Kopetzki copyvio. (also in Stammheim). Sorry about this mistake. It seems I misanderstood the licence statement, considering that Image:Loveparade-girl-jpatokal.jpg came from the same source website.

Please help replace this outdated license[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

Bonjour ! J'ai découvert il y a une quinzaine de jours que plusieurs de mes photos mais aussi au moins une de toi ont été illégitimement copiées-collées sans mention de licence et sans noms d'auteurs par ce site http://www.infotourisme.net/tourisme/vigneux-hocquet. Voir mon "alerte" sur le Bistro de vendredi 11 ainsi que mon début de page spéciale, suite au conseil d'un autre contributeur ... Your account will be renamed[edit]

Hello,

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Holycharly. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Holycharly~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
