 Keep. It's not a scan. I've taken with a Nokia 3250. I've added {{Self}} to the file description.--►Safir yüzüklü Ceklimesaj 13:35, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 18:51, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Its interesting.--Ray Garraty (talk) 18:57, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

David Shankbone

I notice you tagged File:Haylie Duff and Hilary Duff by David Shankbone.jpg for a speedy delete as a probably copyvio on the basis of Tineye. I really can't imagine David Shankbone claiming a photo he didn't take: he's one of the few Wikipedians who has managed to cross over to get the same passes as professional photographers. He has probably taken more photos of celebrities than any other active Commons contributor. - Jmabel ! talk 15:18, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is a misunderstanding. I thought it was new. Do′t look files history. Of course you're right. Thank you that you have corrected my mistake.--Ray Garraty (talk) 16:05, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, Dear Patroller!

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Ray Garraty,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons. --Steinsplitter (talk) 14:02, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request was granted so quickly ... I don't have time to get scared. =) Thank you.--Ray Garraty (talk) 14:06, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Azari style

Perhaps you didn't know, but scholarly categorization of Iranian architecture from 1300 to 1500 is classified as "Azari style". It was named after region (Iranian Azarbaijan) by Iranian art historians so it isn't politically motivated and I'm sure you'll find that name pleasurably. I've created category Azari style few minutes ago and feel free to use it for any Ilkhanid and Timurid building from Fars to Central Asia. Greetings! :) --Orijentolog (talk) 16:52, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you write this?--Ray Garraty (talk) 19:42, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I thought you may find it interesting. I was wrong. --Orijentolog (talk) 19:45, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have other interests in the project.(Association of Categorist Wikipedians)--Ray Garraty (talk) 19:49, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK. My comment was just short friendly "Did you know...?" case. If you didn't, now you know. :) --Orijentolog (talk) 19:59, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I really did not know about it. You can search for enemies elsewhere.--Ray Garraty (talk) 20:03, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, crazy. :) I surely wouldn't mention this if I search for enemies or have anything against Azeri. I actually tried to prove you otherwise. Keep up good work, greetings! --Orijentolog (talk) 20:12, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Baku file renaming

Hi, Thanks for all the work requesting file renames (huge improvement) however, I'm declining this one File:Baku 0154.JPG as to generic. Could you please get a more specific name and request again? Liamdavies (talk) 13:48, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe "Neftchiler Avenue Building 2010"?--Ray Garraty (talk) 13:53, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Liamdavies (talk) 14:20, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your help in renaming.--Ray Garraty (talk) 14:23, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violation

Hi, I saw you marked the File:Atletico rosario logo.svg as a copyright violation, which I consider is wrong, although I didn't have time to change the tag to "deletion request" to discuss about it. I'm strongly convinced that this badge is not original enough to be copyrighted, as the rest of logos posted on Category:rugby union logos of Argentina.

For that reason, I have uploaded a new version of the file (which I rendered myself, changing the colors according to club's website).

If you still believe the file should not be on Commons, please feel free to nominate it for deletion so I think it should be discussed first. Thanks, - Fma12 (talk) 14:19, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File:Fravashi (film) Poster.jpg undelete request

Hi Ray,

I was notified this upload has been marked as a possible copyright violation. ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Fravashi_(film)_Poster.jpg&action=edit&redlink=1 )

This work in its entirety is my work and has been donated to wikipedia to assist in the documentation of anything to do with the film or the director. I have logged an undelete request for it, is there anything else I need to do? to have it re-instated?

--Aukiman (talk) 05:31, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's enough. User:Fastily already answered you [1].--Ray Garraty (talk) 08:59, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ArchiveBot

Hi, I noticed you have set up User:MiszaBot to archive your talk page. Unfortunately, the bot has stopped working, and given how its operator is inactive, it is unclear when/if this will fixed. For the time being, I have volunteered to operate a MiszaBot clone (running the exact same code). With that said, your input would be appreciated at Commons:Bots/Requests/ArchiveBot 1. Hi Ray Garraty, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Your VFC installation method is deprecated

Hello Ray Garraty, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Thanks! --VFC devs (q) 16:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

File:Oil Field Worker 1933 Lock-Batan.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An interesting comparison

I kindly suggest you to compare:

  1. Description of this, this, this and this files.
  2. Categorization of this and this groups.

Do you see any difference or bias? :) --Orijentolog (talk) 21:43, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  1. This survey is primarily meant to get feedback on the Wikimedia Foundation's current work, not long-term strategy.
