First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Salûi e molte grazie per i tuoi caricamenti! Mi permetto solo di dare un piccolo consiglio: ho idea che le fotografie sia consigliabile caricarle singolarmente (nelle wikipedie sono usati in pochi casi dei collage) anche perché non so quale sia il programma usato per unirle ma direi che ha causato una certa perdita di qualità nella foto stessa. Mi unisco anche io all'appello, perché sebbene siano spunti interessanti se carichi anche le immagini originali dai la possibilità ad altri di lavorarci alla bisogna, come ritagliare la sezione che può servire su specifiche voci di wikipedia (ma anche altrove come previsto dalla licenza cc-by-sa). Inoltre per evidenziare alcune specificità nelle foto esiste un metodo che crea un riquadro "virtuale" e che rende talvolta superfluo intervenute graficamente sulle immagini.--Threecharlie (talk) 11:59, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao, ringraziandoti per le foto che carichi vorrei però farti un appunto. Per favore, carica le foto singolarmente, e non in "collage" come questo che ne rendono impossibile la categorizzazione e l'inserimento delle coordinate. Come altro te lo potrei spiegare se non ripetendo parola per parola quel che ti è già stato scritto qui sopra? Prima lo si chiede con cortesia, poi, ora, con più incisività (leggi tra le righe, c'è la netiquette che frena), o per farti capire quanto sia importante devo coinvolgere un admin che ti snoccioli delle linee guida? Se carichi prevalentemente immagini collage costringi chi volesse riutilizzare (è previsto dalla licenza) una singola immagine dovendola "ri-lavorare" per portarla singola quando potevi caricarla tu originariamente, se invece le carichi con segni, cerchietti, frecce le rendi de facto non riutilizzabili per altri scopi, vanificando la licenza che ne prevede il riutilizzo, esattamente come se tu ci apponessi un watermark. Concludendo, nessuno vieta a te o a chiunque altro di rielaborare l'immagine (ancora una volta, lo prevede la licenza) ma, ti esorto, 1) inserisci le immagini originali, pulite, singole e poi 2) i collage e le rielaborazioni grafiche, inoltre sappi che su it.wiki e in generale sulle varie versioni linguistiche di wikipedia (e anche ovviamente sugli altri progetti wikimedia) esiste la possibilità di caricare le immagini in un solo frame, accostandole orizzontalmente o verticalmente pur inserendone due singole, oppure creando una galleria, oppure avendo la possibilità di scorrere le foto una dopo l'altra cliccando su un'apposita freccetta.--Threecharlie (talk) 04:28, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
D'accordo è vero. Chiedo scusa. Questo il motivo che mi spinge a fare così: la comodità che in una foto se ne possono vedere altre (tipo inizio o fine di una stazione, oppure panoramica di un posto e un altro punto terminale...), oppure segnare sulle foto cose che non si possono notare... Non pensavo ad un riutilizzo da parte di terzi, lo confesso, in quanto molte foto sono per uso solo su quella voce nella quale appare. Non metto più "segni" sopra e non farò più collage. D'accordo. Non pensavo fossero considerate così negativamente. Chiedo ora un favore. Ho caricato con titolo errato:

Salüi! Nel caso ti potesse servire, per cambiare/correggere il nome di un file si può fare apposita domanda. Da mobile non ho idea se sia uguale, comunque da pc si entra nell'interfaccia dedicata aprendo il menù a tendina sotto "altro", in alto a destra. A ogni modo si può anche fare la richiesta inserendo a mano la stringa {{Rename |1=nome file corretto|2=numero da 1 a 6 per indicare la casistica di rinomina (qui la lista completa, in questo caso è sufficiente 1 in quanto tuo file)|3=perché si chiede lo spostamento, in questo caso correzione titolo}}, stessa spiegazione vale anche per la compilazione dell'interfaccia sopra citata; alêgri! Te l'avevo chiesto con cortesia...[edit]

...e per cortesia, e ti eri impegnato a non farlo ulteriormente, in più non puoi non aver visto che è intervenuto un admin qui in Commons e in it.wiki a modificare quanto avevi fatto, e sempre per il medesimo motivo delle scorse volte, ovvero carichi un montaggio di due foto invece che caricare le singole (e se proprio vuoi anche il montaggio come opera derivata) (anche oggi) oppure pesantemente modificate con inserti grafici. Sappiamo entrambi che non sono tutte così ma, come ti si è già spiegato, se le carichi in quella forma sono immagini che possono essere utilizzate solo in quel contesto, vanificando la licenza cc-by-sa che permetterebbe la modifica ma che de facto ne rende improbabile tale modifica. Non c'è un modo gentile per dirlo, o meglio ci avevo già provato, quindi mi tocca essere risoluto: basta così, evita, tieni conto delle opinioni di utenti esperti, carica le immagini singole originali e solo come derivate (indicandolo) quelle elaborate graficamente. A corollario, ma qui non ci sono esplicite linee guida che lo prevedano, vedendo nuovamente i miei (e non solo) interventi sulle immagini che carichi sarebbe gradito 1) che si indicasse che l'immagine è stata scattata in Italia aggiungendo il pezzo di template |cat=|location=Italy}} in fondo al {{Taken on}} o al {{According to Exif data}} 2) di fare un minimo sforzo per vedere se esistono categorie più specifiche, esiste il tool "cat a lot" che trovi in basso in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets. E valgono anche quelle che hai già caricato (ma solo dal 1° settembre in poi): basta aggiungere template e categorie così. Nel caso in cui non siano edifici religiosi, guarda ad esempio le categorie di Wiki Loves Monuments in File:Andora - Torre Saracena di Andora - 2023-09-13 22-10-16 003.png. Wiki Loves Pesto Genovese 2024 è iniziato: partecipa anche tu![edit]

Buongiorno Al*from*Lig ricevi questo messaggio perché in passato hai partecipato a concorsi fotografici come Wiki Loves Monuments Italia o Wiki Loves Earth Italia.

Questo marzo, in concomitanza con il Campionato Mondiale del Pesto, è stato organizzato Wiki Loves Pesto Genovese, un concorso fotografico per valorizzare e documentare il pesto alla genovese e il suo utilizzo.

Dal 1 al 31 marzo puoi caricare tue fotografie che raffigurino il pesto genovese, ma anche i suoi ingredienti, la sua preparazione e ricette cucinate con tale condimento. Sono ammesse anche foto scattate prima del concorso, purché siano inedite. Non sono ammesse fotografie con watermark e cornici, né foto che ritraggano marchi commerciali. I tre scatti migliori saranno premiati con un cesto di prodotti gastronomici.

I fotografi che lo desiderano potranno inoltre richiedere uno dei 10 pass per accedere al salone dove si svolgerà la finale del Campionato Mondiale del Pesto, in programma a Genova il 23 marzo, una ulteriore occasione per scattare foto valide per il concorso.

Uso questo modo, ora molto raramente - viste le raccomandazioni - solo per oggetti specifici che vanno visti da altre posizioni in unica modalità (fotografica): come fare qui, per esempio? Questa lapide dimenticata va vista anche nell'altro lato. Che è di sicuro interesse storico e visto che mi trovavo sul posto. Altrimenti vanno inserite più foto singole dello stesso oggetto che qualche (autorizzato) "remover" può togliere a suo piacimento. Non vedo tutto questo tremendo danno per una sola foto caricata. Quando cerco su Wikipedia desidero trovare sempre più dati. Noto, per esempio, che su molti argomenti la versione in lingua inglese è infinitamente più completa.
