OTRS

Commons:Village pump#OTRS recruitment?

Maybe you want to help me with The Huntington? Once that's done I'll promise to get to writing the OTRS-alternative-guide next. The problem is that what needs to be done is fairly boring repetitive crap, so I'm not doing it very quickly and it keeps me from moving my attention to other projects.

What needs to be done is the categorization of 150 images. The Flickr source needs to be checked to see if the Flickr description, title or EXIF contain the name of a photographer. (or some other source) If a photographer is found it needs to be moved into one the categories or go to Category:Photos by unknown photographer for the Huntington Theatre. This needs to be checked at Flickr because some uploaders have removed the name of the photographer from the source when they uploaded photos here.

If you could even do as little as a few dozen photos it would help. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 17:11, 24 June 2018 (UTC)

@Alexis Jazz: First of all feel free to write in Dutch or Low-Saxon with me, even though I live in the Netherlands and work here and my wife is Dutch I still rarely get to speak the language and my written Dutch is ā€˜ā€™evenā€™ā€™ worse, as an Australian national I am exempt of all civic examination duties and have I never had the opportunity to enhance my Belgophone skills, in fact every time I attempt to enter a Dutch language website (e.g. Hyves.nl) rather than engaging in regular conversation Dutch people just laugh at how bad my Dutch is and never tell me what's bad about it so I can improve, they just mock me so I don't really have much opportunity to try and improve my Dutch skills so feel free to reply in Dutch, second of all as much as I wish I could help I have multiple issues with the described task, (1) Flickr basically doesn't work on my cell.-phone šŸ“ž (the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL is a phablef, pardon), Microsoft Edge for whatever reason keeps zooming around, (2) editing pages in the desktop environment on Wikimedia Commons has been buggy lately for Microsoft Edge on my phablet, I have to manually switch between mobile and desktop every time āŒš I wish šŸŒ  to edit a page šŸ“ƒ I am forced to switch from desktop view in categories (because scrolling in the mobile šŸ“± view is very tedious), and editing in mobile. (3) I actually have a use re-categorisation on Wikimedia Commons I want to do myself however due to the fact that Iā€™m very busy incorporating literally every little symbol, rebus, visual pun, hidden message, hidden meaning, Etc. That appears on Chinese charms, amulets, and talismans into a list šŸ“ƒ for Wikipedia basically all my WikiTime goes into that (in fact most of my general free time), even if my browser didn't have all of the aforementioned issues I would still be too busy with that list šŸ“ƒ to actually contribute here, heck I actually have a whole website to import to add images to that list to not make it seem ā€œemptyā€ (image-wise), yet I haven't had the time to upload a single image because Iā€™m too busy. My browser (Microsoft Edge) crashes so often that I have to draft longer messages like this in Microsoft Outlook (which also crashes and occasionally deletes my non-saved progress, but not all the time āŒš like Microsoft Edge does). After that website Iā€™ll have another website and the list goes on, believe I know very well that Wikimedia Commons is understaffed and wish šŸŒ  that I could help, but due to these circumstances (and some in real life too) I am simply unable, if however I am finished next month with all my stuff (except for importing PD-scans of banknotes which might take the whole year due to all these side-projects) I will try to help next month or in August, if you think that youā€™ll be done before that then I won't be of much use.
However I am fascinated with the idea šŸ’” of a better alternative for the OTRS and will help if requested (if I have time then.).

Vietnamees schrijven we zonder puntjes.

--Donald Trung ć€Žå¾µåœ‹å–®ć€ (No Fake News šŸ’¬) (WikiProject Numismatics šŸ’“) (Articles šŸ“š) 12:12, 25 June 2018 (UTC)

Counter Vandalism Unit

Hi Donald Trung,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons. Guanaco (talk) 20:57, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Commons:Rollback. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. Guanaco (talk) 20:57, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

As a courtesy to other editors, it is Commons:Signatures policy to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, deletion requests, and noticeboards. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then automatically be added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). Thank you.
