User talk:Laod~commonswiki
Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Lukeisback photos
[edit]Can you do me a favour? When uploading photos from the lukeisback website, can you add the page from which the photo can be access and not just where the end photo is? It makes it easier trying to add any relevant categories to the photos besides that for the actress - for instance all the photos you added of Tiffany Mynx were from her appearance at Erotica Los Angeles in 2005, and we have a category for just that convention. Crop ???
[edit]Hello Laod,
When a picture is published and reproduced, it is necessary to keep the original format, and not to crop !!!
Best regards. Jean-Jacques MILAN (talk) 01:12, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Do you KNOW that this particular photograph is included in the ticket from 2007 or did you just uploaded it because someone else got permission for some other photographs from the same photographer? --Martin H. (talk) 01:03, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, I meant this question serious, did the flickr user agree to have this image licensed freely? Did he mention this particular photo in the email release from 2007? --Martin H. (talk) 23:02, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
- 127 images already exist with the same ticket on Commons. Search results for 2007081610000479 --Laod (talk) 02:14, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- We can't assume that consent for some images means consent for all. The actual ticket would have to be checked to see just what it does (and does not) allow. Tabercil (talk) 03:05, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- We can assume that consent for numerous images from very similar session means consent for all. --Laod (talk) 03:54, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- Ehm, no. You can not say something was licensed by the copyright owner if you dont know, if it realy was licensed. We dont make guesses on copyright status. Ill tag the file for otrs-pending and ask an otrs volunteer to check. Maybe you are lucky, but dont test your luck in future again. Thanks, --Martin H. (talk) 10:31, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- I'm just going to reiterate. Unless there is a clear statement somewhere that all content is released, you cannot assume that is the case. This ticket only covers a set number of images. perhaps these are the images the user hand picked out for some reason. Maybe they didn't want outtakes, or personal photos, or photos that were really good, or any number of other reasons why all the content wasn't released. If you want additional photos from that user, just contact them on flickr and ask them to change the license. The worst that can happen is they say no (or don't reply). It is always worth a shot. But it's not OK to simply assume, without evidence, that something is free. We take copyrights pretty seriously here, as our mission is dedicated to providing free content. I'd be glad to help you further if you have additional questions. -Andrew c (talk) 15:41, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- I'll be happy to help out as well - I routinely contact folks on Flickr to try and get images for Wikipedia so I'm quite familiar with the process. Tabercil (talk) 21:56, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

File:Muffin_Wasted_Morning.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Laod. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Laod~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
